COOL WHIP, again

 I will review the Cool Whip situation, once again. Cool Whip was an item, growing up, of which I never tasted, not had as a grocery item purchased by my parents. Not until I met Joe, my husband, had I even considered Cool Whip anything but a frivolous unnecessary frill. Cool Whip was one of Joe's favorite nonfood foods. After a few years of ignoring that blue and white plastic bowl and the white froth unfurled on top of cookies, or graham crackers, I decided to try a taste test, and, wham bam thank you, Gods, of man-made food, I became hooked. And thus a love affair with chemically induced Cool Whip began to flourish. 

 

Living in North Truro, a selection of nearby Grocery Stores is limited. Travel 10 minutes to Provincetown or perhaps 30 minutes off-peak time, about 45 minutes during the summer to Orleans. Our P-Town Grocery Store, during non-summer days, buy Cool Whip for as cheap as $2.25, from June to mid-October, spend at least $3.45. Same chemically enhanced sugary fluff in the same produced blue and white plastic bowl, the same trucks schlepping to P-Town every third or fourth day, same Grocery Store employees placing the Cool Whip inside the freezers. 

 

IT AIN’T ABOUT THE COOL WHIP. IT IS ABOUT inflating the cost of goods, increasing the profits, denying that greed is not a good thing, and pretending that once we say it’s a CAPITALISTIC characteristic, it should not be questioned. IT AIN’T ABOUT THE COOL WHIP. IT IS ABOUT, nothing ever trickling down, except water, ignoring the needs of the many to fill the pockets of a whole lot less, pretending that INFLATION is a natural phenomenon, insisting this man-created invention somehow has a mind and a will of its own.

 

Why is it that when prices go high, those already in a higher tax bracket see their profits go higher, but most anyone else does not? This is not a blog about either or, as in Socialism/Communism OR CAPITALISM; more of a commentary as to why not find some better kind of compromise so all of us can afford to eat, sleep, and stay healthy!

 Stewart Rhodes, founder of the far-right Oath Keepers. The Yale Law-educated Rhodes came to see political and courtroom paths as doomed for keeping Trump in power and the potential invocation of the Insurrection Act as the only viable way. So, the right-wing activist began promoting the Insurrection Act among fellow Oath Keepers, privately and publicly, urging them to also loudly call on Trump to take the extreme step of using the military and citizen militias to remain in office.

Ultimately, his defense attorney noted, Rhodes didn’t enter the Capitol on Jan. 6, nor did he bring weapons with him. Instead, he remained just outside the building while the others can be seen on video joining the mob that surged into the building after police lines collapsed. (POLITICO)

 

It may be folks who believe that society has doomed them to become a life form living on a self-perceived lower tier of the population. It may be folks who always find reason to blame their own inadequacies on anyone but themselves. It may be the less nurtured, those educated on dogma, bigotry, and fiction. It may be this group of people whose first response is usually claiming victimhood, their second recourse is to accuse others, and somewhere next within their limited range of options is violence, but look closely, it is often someone whose own background had permitted them the finer things in life, a status of preferred education, and the ability to look at the village of doom from some kind of Ivory Tower. (Trump and Hitler were and are neither intellectual hierarchy, but had the savvy of snake oil salesmen and the backing of brilliant people)

 

Be afraid of STEWART RHODES. He is not a common man or woman. He may play one in real life, but his smarts from Yale Law, and the knowledge that higher education is IMPORTANT to succeed in life, provided the insights to send in his armed Troops to invade the Capitol. Innocent of course, he claims, because he was just standing unarmed, outside. Be afraid of other Right-wing thugs who are smart enough to motivate the cultists, while trying their damnedest to shout fire in the theatre while remaining on the sidewalk outside…people like Tucker Carlson, Ron DeSantis, and Ted Cruz, all wealthy, and all very well-educated.

MARGIE-TAYLOR-PUTIN has no real job description within the House, as she had any committee responsibility removed, due to her Racist, Bigoted, and Threatening rhetoric this past year. So, MARGIE-TAYLOR-PUTIN can waste your and my tax dollars, which we pay for, her salary and health benefits, by continuing to be an anal opening farting words and phrases, as if she was a very unintelligent four-year-old (my apologies to the intelligent four-year-old’s). Fearful to stop this walking virus of HATE, Leader Kevin (I will kiss your ass, Donnie- 24 hours-a -a day) McCarthy, being as a good ole GOP THUG is expected to be, places his welfare and future career above the USA.

Sure I am adding to her one more round of 15-minutes of shame, but MARGIE, is dangerous, she is a purveyor of Snake Oil, and left to her own devices, she will acquire more fools and inspire more copycat idiots.

 

I am an American, and the thought that MARGIE even sits in Congress is an embarrassment. I am a Gay American, and I am so tired of the insecure, inept, Homophobes, running free without paying any consequences.

DeSatan

 The positive thing about Governor Ron DeSatan, running for office again, is that Floridians may actually receive some governmental relief from Hurricane Ian. Ron DeSatan has proven that his love for the common man or woman is not easily provided, and rather than be generous, he prefers to segregate a community…the straights from the Gays, the White Nationalist Heterosexuals from the Heterosexuals of color, the White Nationalist Christian Heterosexuals from Jewish/Muslim Heterosexuals.

 

Now, don’t take for granted, Floridians that this love affair between DeSatan and the government will last, because when DeSatan was a Congressman, he denied any kind of government intervention when Hurricane Sandy hit New Jersey. DeSatan felt that somehow the folks in New Jersey hadn’t done enough to prepare for the Hurricane and that somehow, all the victims wanted to do was live off the dole of Uncle Sam. Be sad that Hurricane Ian hit Florida, but be happy that it hit during a re-election period in which Governor DeSatan is doing performance art.

 

Look closely at the ways in which DeSantan has governed Florida. “don’t say gay,” trans kids not on sports teams, don’t do drag, or ever let your parents tell you about drag, ban books, kidnap people who happen to be political immigrants, speak before White Nationalist Mobs…

 The Supreme Court will begin a new term with more contentious cases on its docket (npr)

When Justices are first nominated, and eventually confirmed, Justice Roberts, let’s be honest, that nomination and eventual confirmation are BOTH based on POLITICS. Often times the nominees are not quite qualified to be a first term Judge in Traffic Court. Too often, it has not been Judicious Scholarship as the reason for being nominated or confirmed, RATHER what side of POLITICS the Nominee, hangs her or his hat…on the right or on the left.

 

Precedent, Justice Elana Kagan said, is a "foundation stone of law," a doctrine of stability that "tells people they can rely on the law." But if, "all of a sudden everything is up for grabs, all of a sudden very fundamental principles of law are being overthrown ... then people have a right to say, 'You know, what's going on there? When fundamental principles become squashed with religious dogma, (especially within a nation based on no official state religion). When fundamental principles become smothered by personal indulgences as in thinking one knew exactly what the Founding Fathers intended for this nation, over 246 years ago. (when slavery was accepted, women were considered chattel) yes, Justice Kagan, something becomes rotten!

 

Life, liberty any pursuit of happiness, when offered and then removed by Justices assigned for lifetime terms, whose lack of accountability becomes blatant, and bully-like is nothing but a political backhand to America. Because the Senate refuses to act with conscience afraid of doing the right thing for groups of people, who are hated by their base, The Supreme Court no longer remains a separate branch of the government but is almost a clone of the Legislative Branch. As bad as that is, at least, if lucky, Americans can vote, ‘those bums out.’

After the Weather Channel and the Cable News “LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME” fools are finished parading in piles of water, done blowing in the wind, and standing beneath downed power lines… After, the television crews are finished finding folks who swear this was the worst weather event in their lives, or Political figures pontificate about how great they are in an emergency… AFTER that BECOMES the harsh reality of ONCE almost having something, and NOW having nothing at all!

 

No Insurance, because food, and shelter were the priority, and purchasing insurance could not be an item in an already diminished budget. No saving account, because, needing to just eke out a day-by-day existence was the priority. 

 

NATURE has no favorites or enemies when it strikes. It knows no difference between race, or income, or religion, or political affiliation; it is only HUMAN BEINGS, who tend to those matters. In matters of any disaster both rich and poor can suffer the consequences, but often times after the disaster, too often it is the poor who remain the victim.
