GEFILTE FISH

 By the second night of Passover, way back in the day, all of the frantic and frenetic Pre Passover cooking and baking had ceased, and any and all of the “not in my kitchen skirmishes had ended. All the commentary regarding, “this is the right recipe or that is not the way to make or bake things”, had found closure, and although it did not last for 40 years, the Buncher/Braff families seemed to be free and the journey from kitchen to table, indeed became an amazing event.

 

When I was young, the issue at hand was who should actually be responsible for making and baking the Gefilte Fish. The old-school Pesach Seder rules in our house, meant, everything was fresh, nothing sprouting from a jar or box which had already been pre-made.  None of those unnecessary things ever had any chance of survival. I say our house because back in the day, it was my mother who handled all of the major Jewish holiday meals. I know it had been before my birth, that this, I AM THE JEWISH HOLIDAY DINNER MAVEN, an edict was put in place because I also know that ever since I was able to remember Jewish holidays, it was a matter of fact that Rena Buncher, was the only person to call the shots. 

 

But the preparation of the Gefilte Fish was never quite written in stone. It seemed that my Grandmother, and her sisters, all had extra special ideas emanating from Braila Romania their place of birth. Tradition, they would argue, oftentimes speaking Yiddish with a few Romanian words thrown in, “tradition is important in the flavors, the aromas, and the eating of Gefilte Fish.” “Anyone can mish mush, mush up, fish, and call it Gefilte Fish, my Grandma Braff, would say, sipping on her Peach Schnapps, our Gefilte Fish, must never be compromised.” To make Gefilte fish, from fish, one must “HUCK,” the fish first. To “HUCK “is to chop and stir chop and stir a very tedious and time-consuming chore. It is also a very laborious bit of labor. The Romanian theory on making Gefilte Fish, it seemed, included, about an hour of steady chopping and stirring followed by more chopping and stirring. My mother ended up doing most of this work, permitting my older sisters to help, every now and then. But if there are too many cooks in the kitchen, as the saying goes…and oftentimes my grandmother would inspect and of course somehow, as in ALWAYS, the chopped pieces never seemed to be small enough. I think I was about 7, when my mother declared, about 2 weeks ahead of time, that from this point forward, her Gefilte Fish recipe would become the official recipe, as her recipe called for about a half hour of “HUCKING THE FISH.” The law had spoken, and the very FINAL WORD had been said.

 

I remember, when I turned 10, my parents came home from the Giant Eagle Super Market, and when they unpacked the grocery bags, we had something in glass jars called Yehuda Gefilte Fish. A brand-new era of Pesach Seder commenced! Chag Pesach Sameach!

Performance Politics

 When Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., arrived at the courthouse to show her support for the ex-president, she was met with angry anti-Trump demonstrators and forced to make a hasty retreat back to the safety of her SUV. When Greene grabbed a bullhorn and tried to speak, she was drowned out by demonstrators blowing whistles. (NBC News) 

So I want to know, how much of MY taxpayer dollars were spent on Margie Putin Greene’s Propaganda Visit, and Political Unabashed Snake Oil trip to New York City? Seriously, if she is a sitting member of Congress and decides to play Performance Politics, I want to know just how much this has cost me, for her trip from DC to NYC, and any other expenses she charged to my credit card!

 

I would also like to know how many of my taxpayer dollars are being used to pay for the long line of limos used to also demonstrate Performance Politics. I mean, seriously, one huge black SUV, would and could have been enough!

Unprecedented:

 Unprecedented: an earlier occurrence of something similar. : something done or said that may serve as an example or rule to authorize or justify a subsequent act of the same or an analogous kind.

 

I am so damned tired of the MEDIA using the word this is a Precedent when any following consequence happens regarding Donald Trump. For me, the only  UNPRECEDENTED action is the fact that an EX-PRESIDENT, actually broke many laws and lied about all of them or tried to cover them up.

 

I wish the MEDIA, would, instead, say, the BROKEN LAWS, BY DONALD TRUMP, ARE UNPRECEDENTED…but the FACT that the law has caught on to these unlawful acts is actually in PRESIDENT.

 

A Felon breaks the law, the law then, like for any PERP< follows up and enacts, the LAW against the UNLAWFUL machinations of the FELON.

 

PLEASE stop, MEDIA, pretending that the actual crimes committed by a FELON are being handled in a UNPRECIDENTED manner, when in FACT, TRUMP is being treated like any other criminal!

TO DEHUMANIZE

 Hitler’s 4-Step Process for Dehumanizing the Jews

PREJUDICE: Even before they took power in 1933, Hitler and the Nazi government set about implementing a series of four specific steps designed to result in the complete and total dehumanization of Europe’s Jewish population

SCAPEGOATING: The Nazis scapegoated the Jews, blaming them for every societal problem in German society.

DISCRIMINATION: In the case of the Jews, the Nazi’s prejudice against them made them easy to scapegoat.

PERSECUTION: the system created and utilized by the Nazis against the Jews was likely the most organized and efficient one in history. (Bahai Teachings. Org)

 

Dehumanizing people, Jews, in particular, was a particular piece of propaganda, used by the Nazis in establishing a government-sanctioned HATE campaign, which lead to the Jewish population of Nazi Germany being singled out as a perfect enemy of the State.

 

It now seems to me, that the Republican Party of the United States, is calling upon Hitler's playbook of DEHUMANIZING demographics, in order to keep the peasants occupied with HATE toward a well-defined OTHER, keeping those peasants busy proclaiming the OTHER as a reason for any and all perceived evil in the United States. The OTHER, right now, is the TRANS population. As was the intention by Hitler then, any harm to the Jews was deemed a patriotic action by the Third Reich, sadly, it seems to me, The GOP is following in the footsteps of the Nazi’s making the Trans community easy prey for harm.

 

I am afraid. I read history. Fact is not fiction, and the truth is not lies. And one should wonder, who might be next.

 

Colors

 The Brown Shirts of Germany seemed to have morphed into the White Sheets of Amerika, which then morphed into the Red Hats of MAGA.

The parents who somehow think that, because they feel offended by books whose topics include, the LGBTQ community, the history of Racism in America, Anti-Semitism in America, and HATE toward the other in America, seem to believe that their rights NOT to read these books, actually should trump the rights of the rest of us, who do want to read these books, and do WISH have these books read and discussed by educators. Those parents demanding BANS ON BOOKS, somehow insist, that only their decisions are the correct way; forgetting that in a Democracy, in a country founded on a divide between Church and State, to deny free speech is actually an offense against the US Constitution. 

 

So it seems to me, that the Republican Party has placed HATE as a priority, BIGOTRY as a positive, and Denial of rights and freedoms for choice as the perfect way to win Primaries.

HYPOCRITES ANNONYMOUS

 Maybe if we offered the MAGA and the current crop of Republican/Trump Party Politicians a new kind of a 12 STEP  self-help recovery program, called HYPOCRITES ANONYMOUS; a few of them might actually be cured of the Rampant Red State Disease called HYPOCRISY!

 

THE REPUBLICANS, NOW: This New York indictment is nothing but Political weaponization' of government, blatant abuse of power. They PROCLAIM, how dare this indictment happens while Trump has declared his candidacy for President. ETC, ETC, ETC…

 

THE REPUBLICANS, THEN: "but her emails,” “lock her up, lock her up”, Republican leaders asked the Justice Department on Monday to open a criminal investigation into whether Hillary Clinton lied to Congress in testimony last fall about her private email server. OH YEAH, WHILE SHE WAS RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT.

 

THE REPUBLICANS: “Free speech for me and not for thee.” Conservatives at the state level have adopted slogans like “individual freedom” and “choice” — to brazenly and hypocritically push measures that punish people for discussing banned topics or expressing the wrong opinions. Freedom and Choice, but not for just anyone who actually wants their children to read books in school libraries. Not for kids all kids to say I am Gay. Never for women who want reproductive rights. Not even for the right to use pronouns which YOU, actually identify. THE REPUBLICANS: The only choice necessary is the one we make for you. The only speech free enough, are the words and sentences of which WE approve.

 

I could go on and on and on, you certainly could go on and on and on. As Nancy Reagan once so cavalierly stated, “Just Say No!” “No to HYPOCRICY!” Nah, Republicans still did drugs THEN and I suppose Republicans will still do HYPOCRICY NOW. HMMM. Maybe HYPOCRITES ANNONYMOIUS, because it is anonymous, might work!

 

 

NITPICK

 I know, just like we are told NOT to scratch the Poison Ivy rash on our skin (and I have had it), the mere itching of it, for the moment, does make it seem to feel so damn good. And I know that to partake in reading anything about  BOEBERT, just like the Poison Ivy rash, can lead to anguish, frustration, and suicidal thoughts. But as I see it, to ignore this INSURRECTIONIST, would be just as bad, at least for me. This actual poster child FOR BEING SUMBER THAN SHIT, BOEBERT, is still sitting in Congress and still has the power to act the part of a MEAN GRIRL.

 

Lauren Boebert Won’t ‘Nitpick What the Bible Says’ Now That Her Teen Son Will Be a Dad “Obviously, I’m a Christian, and there are standards that we like to uphold, but none of us do it perfectly,” Boebert told Dave Rubin on his talk show The Rubin Report on Thursday. “We can nitpick what the Bible says is right and wrong, but I think just having that heart posture of wanting to serve God, it’s so important.” (What, exactly, “heart posture” entails, I have yet to figure out, but it sounds like fairly run-of-the-mill evangelical bullshit.) (Jezebel)…She thinks it fine JUST FINE, if you will, to NITPICK  the Bible, as in when you pretend you are God, you choose not to accept the icky stuff that gets in your way!

 

The right is constantly preaching about the necessity of abstinence before marriage and stigmatizing unintended pregnancy as sinful and shameful, all while demonizing abortion, which many pregnant teens choose. Excusing premarital sex but not abortion, both of which are ostensibly against her “family values,” is as inconsistent as it gets. (Jezebel)…In my review of her 17-year-old son impregnating his younger girlfriend, I was busy getting hives just from the idea of underage sex but forgot that CHRISTIAN teachings rail pre-marital sex. So, BOEBERT JUNIOR, is a sinner, EXCEPT, not if you NITPICK!

 

Boebert says, “One of the biggest things that I look to is, ‘Him who knows to do right and doesn’t, it’s sin.’ And I mean, there [are] things all throughout the week that I know is right to do and sometimes, I don’t do them.” (Jezebel)…BOEBERT tries to make herself humble by admitting sometimes she doesn’t the things she knows that is right, but if you are anyone else she DEMANDS, that you only do the things she tells YOU, that are right. NITPICKING!
