I fear the worst because what I have witnessed is that the WORST POLITICIANS in this world seemed to have joined together, placing their personal ambitions above the people. I have witnessed many people pretend that as long as, FOR NOW, they are not the target of Hate, Racism, Bigotry, Bias  Xenophobia, they can participate in the throng to deny and destroy democracy for others. None of these fools realize that once the Fascists run out of the first group of OTHERS, that the Fascists will need a new batch of scapegoats.

 

TRUMP seems to be getting away with every conceivable crime, every slimy, sleazy trick in the book, every disgusting inhuman action. HOW, WHY, and WHAT THE FUCK!

Can money, lots of it, make anyone immune from suffering the consequences of illness, doom, and destruction, the kind of evil intentions created by the CEOs, Executive Managers, and Boards of Directors who invent evil and try their hardest to ignore the evil they created?

 

Are profits, lots and lots of profits for a select few, truly a justified priority in easing the consciences of those who I see as accomplices to murder, pre-meditated murder? I have to wonder, if you knew or know that your product, the one that will make you millions, is capable of murdering millions, and you continue to produce that product, are you not guilty of both your actions and your INACTIONS?

 

 

 

 

 

My Memorial Days

 For me, some memories still remain magical. I am blessed by the moments in my life, which still resonate richly, and retain the fundamentals that have helped me live my life holding on to hope, holding tightly to love, and helping me to recall horizons from the past which helped me fight forward for horizons of today and tomorrow.

Way back when, in the 1950’s, which at times seems so long ago, and at times seems like just yesterday, Memorial Day Weekend, was an adventure, one that led me to a journey towards the summer ahead. Way back then it seemed to me that my life was eternal. Days lasted more than 24 hours, and tomorrows were always so far away. I was certain that FOREVER, was indeed for ever!

 

On the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend, my father took my little sister and I to the East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh, and we went to Father and Son’s Shoe Store. My father knew Herman, who managed the store, and Herman, would greet my dad, saying, “Welcome back Benny Buncher, and my how your kids have grown since last summer.” Herman would pat me on the head and hug my little sister. Herman would take out the weird looking metal shoe thingie, in which we would first place our left foot  then right foot, measuring our shoe size, and usually say, “your kids feet are growing, that is a good thing.” Then, without hesitation, Herman would go to the back of the shoe store and return with our blue one-inch rubbered soul summer shoes, guaranteed to keep our feet protected all summer. Herman would then touch our toe and say to my father, they have a whole summer to grow,w and these shoes will be perfect! My dad would shake Herman’s hand, and Herman would pat me on the head, hug my sister, give us TOOTSIE Pops, and say see you next year, telling my sister you stay pretty and say to me, you better grow taller!  As we left Father and Son Shoe Store, my Dad would say, don’t tell your mother, because it is close to dinner, but we are going to the Big Islay’s Store and getting ice cream, any flavor you want!

 

On the Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, we headed out to North Park Swimming Pool. It was a County Public Pool, and as I remember way back when, one of the largest swimming pools I EVER had seen. My parents would tell my sister and I that once Memorial Day happened, wham bam swimming pool came to life, and their life lasted until Labor Day. I actually believed that story for a long, long time. When we got to North park Swimming Pool, we met up with a whole bunch of other families whose fathers had been a police man like my dad. On Saturday night, my father took out our grill, placed the first official bag of summer charcoal on the grill flushed it with lighter fluid, instructed my sister and I to stand back, and like lightening had struck our grill a blaze of fire at least 10 feet tall, in reality only a few inches tall erupted, and the Buncher Family was having our OFFICIAL FIRST SUMMER GRILL DINNER of the SUMMER.

 

On the Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend, we got ready for our block party. Most of neighbors except for the Schwartz’s and the Appelbaum’s who seemed to hate kids, had their grill out, their lawn hoses ready, and Mr. Rosen had a whole list of relay races for all of us to play. My father, as the Sargent of Police, was able to have the barricades set at the top and bottom of the street, so all of us could safely play in the street. Sunday night, my two sisters and I and my parents set off to the Silver Lake Drive-In and were ready to see some scary movies.

 

On the Monday of Memorial Day Weekend, my father collected all of the kids on our street, and we walked the neighborhood placing 12” flags on everyone’s front lawn. My Dad, along with many other kids’ Dad’s would remind all of us that it was the courage, and love of country by men and women, some who sacrificed their lives for freedom, that we celebrate Memorial Day. My father would say, we can enjoy this day, because so many people fought for the future. In the afternoon, the lawn hoses were out, swim suits on, and everyone, including parents got wet. That night almost all families had their grills going and summer was officially anointed!

 

Those were, the days I thought would never end!

Memorial Day 2024

 From 1950 to 1953, the world witnessed the Korean Conflict. I am not certain why it was never declared a war, but nonetheless, many members of the Military fought and died fighting in that part of the world. I was born in 1949, and even though I had no idea of anything but the love of my family, the n Conflict happened during my lifetime. Since then, as I have grown and become aware of my being, I have witnessed wars in Viet Nam, Afghanistan and Iraq, in which American Troops have been sent to fight, oftentimes losing their lives, or returning home having lost their hopefulness, promises, and purpose of living.

Growing up, I heard fist hand from my parents, my grandparents, friends and relatives, of the sacrifices our Troops made fighting WWI and the supposed war to end all wars WWII. I read history books, which educated me to understand the sacrifices the men and women made to secure freedom and to keep democracy alive. World War I and World War II were very worrisome examples of the past, showcasing the rottenness, and selfishness, the evil and self-serving desires of tyrants, narcissists, psycopaths, who understood the insecurities of their citizens who seemed to desire a victim to somehow make their own unfortunate lives acceptable. As a young adult, I witnessed our own leaders within the United States, try their best to keep their political careers alive, presenting falsehoods, mistruths, and manipulation of facts fighting wars. Democracy was the priority, but Nixon, Reagan, Bush, and Bush, Bush Jr. used sinister means to achieve that goal.

 

But all along the way, be it from WWI to the conflicts of the Afghanistan-Iraq wars, American men and women, stood up, stood strong, and committed their lives to make certain Democracy/Freedom/ Justice/ and Equality remained alive, even if it meant their lives ended. So, as I celebrate Memorial Day, I would be remiss if I did not thank those who actually placed their lives on the line for good to prevail! I will remember you!

Of course, as a Re, as a Republican, BOEBERT acts the bully, using zero facts for her argument but preferring lots of homophobia.

The flag's close association with both far-right Christian nationalists and the insurrectionists who stormed the Capitol. Trump's purported VP contender Tom Cotton proudly displays Jan 6-linked flag, Internet brands him 'a coward and a borderline traitor'. House Speaker Mike Johnson displays the flag in the hallway outside his office next to the flag of his home state, Louisiana. He said he has flown it “for as long as I can remember.” Johnson, a Republican, told The Associated Press he did not know the flag had come to represent the “Stop the Steal” movement. “Never heard that before,” he said. A US Supreme Court Justice, acting as a Republican surrogate, a US Senator, sitting in the body of government deciding on the freedoms and liberties of Americans, and the Speaker of the House, the second in command to the Presidency, ALL, eagerly, hanging a flag, which represents the antihippy of Democracy, but showcases the worrisome vision of Nationalistic Christianity, and Fascism. And all three men can wield enough power to change the lives of all Americans.

The state wasn’t the best place to get pregnant in the first place, with some of the highest maternal mortality rates in the US.  (The Guardian) The stakes are high for doctors in Texas when it comes to abortion. With three overlapping laws, Texas bans nearly all abortions and has some of the strictest penalties for doctors in the country, including thousands of dollars in fines, the loss of a medical license and even life in prison. Religious zealots disguised as Republican politicians are now playing Physicians, minus any medical education, but full of the chapters and verses of their selective Bibles as all the knowledge they need to control the freedoms and choices of women. Save the fetus, even if that fetus is not healthy enough to survive birth. Ignore the health of the mother because, after all, all she IS is the necessary carrier of the fetus. Pretend you are pro-life, even while pontificating about that, you are destroying more lives along the way than saving them.

Ted Cruz, one of the most condescending, arrogant, hypocritical GOP Senators, acting high and mighty, pretending that he is offended by the simple question of whether he will accept the results of the 2024 election, as not to answer the question, responding that such a question is not necessary. Cruz, always hiding behind his own cowardness and cockiness, playing his personal politics above and beyond the politics of his constituents, and acts shocked and insulted when all he has to do is say, of course, I will accept the results because this is America!

So interesting if you look at the WONDERFUL Corporation, owned and operated by the billionaire Reznick’s, when they proclaim via their bull shit PR that they are committed to "sustainable farming and business practices" and sees its employees as "a guiding force for good.” BUT yet, somehow paying their workers a living wage, which actually will SUSTAIN their workers lives, permitting their workers to enjoy reasonable hours, with reasonable benefits, which will permit their workers to continue to be a guiding force, is not a priority for Mr. and Mrs. Reznick. 

 

As I kid I remember my mother would recite, “how much wood would a woodchuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?” I was fascinated by that question, always wondering what if those woodchucks chucked down every tree in the world. Yet in Orleans only 30 miles west, at the Cumberland Farms located there regular gasoline was selling for $3.25, and at the first town on Cape Cod, Borne, it sold for $3.19. Does inflation suddenly increase when it comes to distance? And please explain to me why in the very slow and tedious months of February and March, Cumberland Farms was selling regular gasoline for JUST $3.25 in Provincetown, and now with the coming summer season in Provincetown, wham bam thank you ma’am, the cost of regular gasoline at the pump is $3.65.

 

I so wish, whenever articles are written regarding inflation, the authors of those articles would cut the BS and add to their articles items, like how the profits of CEOs and their Corporations increased. Or how does supply and demand deem the cost of items, as if somehow the same gallon of gasoline suddenly cost more s more to produce? Exactly what IS IT that makes the same carton of milk from the same cows from the same farm suddenly cost more to produce, bec because it is warmer or colder?

Max is 5 he had no idea of the concept of “being poor.”

The night before his fifth birthday, too excited to fall asleep, Max hears his parents talking as they prepare for bed.

Dad says, “I wish money could grow on trees; that way, we would be able to give Max a few more birthday gifts.”

Mom says, “Amazing, isn’t it, how we need money to eat, to stay healthy, to do almost everything.”

Dad says, “Honey, I guess we are poor!”

 

Money is needed to be able to eat, money is needed to stay healthy, Max mutters in his sleep. Max wakes up the next morning still concerned about MONEY. On his way home from school, much to Max’s astonishment, he finds two, dollar bills on the ground. He looks around and does not see anyone to claim this money, so Max places the dollar bills in his pocket and heads home. 

 

When Max arrives ho,me he asks his mother for a shovel and her permission for Max to plant something in the garden. Max’s mother agrees but questions Max as to what he is planning. Max says it is a surprise. With permission granted Max digs a small hole and places one of the dollar bills in the ground, then waters it. It is now dinner time and Max asks his father if he, Max, can help prepare the salad, by himself. Of course says max’s dad but be careful when you cut the vegetables. I will Max adds, and he prepares the salad with cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes and a slice up dollar bill.

 

Max is now certain that he can make money grow from trees, and if money is so important to remain healthy, eating it in your salad is the smartest thing ever!

 

One has to wonder, just like, Max did!

And so, Moscow Margie, was given free reign, by, “it’s all about me, and my personal gains,” Kevin McCarthy, as Kevin was willing and able, and available to make any deal with the Devil, which permitted him to attain more and more power. Kevin, placing personal privileges above the people, prioritizing his own selfish interests, beyond and form of reasonable or rational governance, permitted Moscow Margie, to rape and pillage our Democracy. And with Kevin’s approval, Moscow Margie, took advantage of her newly found status as the GURU of the GOP, and she managed to threaten, blackmail, and eliminate any all of her perceived or planned enemies. Moscow Margie’s power surged, and she recognized, her super powers and put them to total evil use. And now, the same clowns who approved of her disgusting behavior are suddenly perplexed. Moscow Margie, overreacted, made big deals out of nothingness, made “much ado about nothing, and NOW it seems there is nothing the Republicans can do to stop her.

 

Chris Christie, yearning to remain relevant, acting bold, brassy, and belligerent as ever, decided that he needed a new con. Being a conniving scoundrel, a very good purveyor of snake oil, Chris Christie, informed the citizens of the US of A, that he was NOT going to take TRUMP’S bull shit anymore, and that he, Chris Christie, would be the VOICE of sensible Republicans. Christie gained his 15 minutes plus of fame, as he made the rounds on MSNBC, and CNN, playing his usual role of “I do not give a shit,” crusader.  Main Street absorbed his Bull Shit, like a sponge, actually complementing Christie, for having the “balls”, and “backbone,” to let TRUMP know just what a farcical character he was. UNTIL the fluff and ruffles fell off of Christie, and he, like almost every other Republican POLITICIAN, decide that conscience, dignity, and morals will get them nowhere within the current Republican voters.  Christie was just one more charade in the comedy of errors called ‘Much Ado About Nothing!’
