Mitt Romney spent the Vietnam War driving about the French countryside and his sons won’t be serving in the wars he wants to start/continue because they are serving him, which is the same thing as serving our country according to Mitt Romney. Ann Romney thinks that sending her sons off to serve “their mission” is the same thing as sending your sons and daughters off to Iraq or Afghanistan. She sent them away as boys and they came back as men. War is sometimes necessary or sometimes a result looking for a cause. History has proven that the might of men can be justified but the mission of men without reason or rhyme results in endless chaos resolving very little but ego. I have never fought in a war. I don’t know the first hand accounts of doing so, but being 62 years old have either studied, viewed from the safety of television, or spoken to veterans about the affects of war. I am afraid of war, learned that during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the treatment of Viet Nam Vets. I see the ravishes of war from the faces of the Troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with physical, mental and emotional scars. I see the punishment of war on the empty faces of mothers/fathers/wives/husbands who are handed an American flag and a coffin. A nation, we are told must at times exert force on another group of people to keep humanity safe we are told. Left unchecked the evil of a few men and women may ruin the lives of many. I understand all of that and because of that understanding realize that as desirous fighting a war may be it is ten times as dangerous. Ann Romney was on the “View” Whoopi Goldberg: What I read about your husband, what I read, and maybe you can correct this, is that the reason that he didn’t serve in Vietnam was because it was against the religion. Ann Romney: He was serving his mission. (Explaining that none of her sons have served in the military) My five sons have also served (on) missions. We find different ways of serving… I sent them away boys and they came back men. Mr Romney and Ryan backed by a majority of Neo-Cons who had served in the Bush/Cheney administration have spoken about war as if it is a necessity not worthy of a debate or conversation. Both men bathe in the red, white, blue of the flag and pronounce that the greatness of America is our ability to wage war and win. Neither man has served in a war and neither men come from families where mother or dad has enlisted. Mr. Romney considers his sons going to battle for the (Romney’s) presidential aspirations similar to serving this country on the front line. Mrs Romney thinks sending her sons to Europe to proselytize is similar to facing the Taliban or Al Qaida. There is a major disconnect, a major one! There is also an arrogance and ignorance. It IS NOT just about the economy, it is abiut life and we all lives it healthy safely and equally!
