The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has approved Skydance’s $8 billion purchase of CBS-owner Paramount after the companies agreed to end diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs but feature a “diversity of viewpoints from across the political and ideological spectrum.” (The Verge)
The fascist leader has once again interrupted the flow of free speech, the freedom of the press, and his authoritarianism has been embraced by corporate billionaires, placing personal wealth above and beyond the principles of democracy. We are helpless when the 1% most powerful kowtow to the dictator, placing, once again, profits over people. I must wonder aloud, is it already too late to turn back?
Demanding how and why the media works is a frightening demonstration of the limitless control by the government, and the exclusion of the uniqueness of the government’s citizens should send a chill, a fascist chill all over our bodies. I would say be afraid, but the monster is already in the house, waiting for its next victims.
