The Wooden Spoon

Way back in the days of the mid 20^thcentury , whenever my mother found having four kids a bit frustrating, and wanted a little help around the house (her job was cleaning, cooking, washing, shopping and I imagine if she needed to, chopping wood, and no she did not wear a pearl necklace or diamond bracelet when she did housework), she would threaten us with the Wooden Spoon (a large utensil used, usually for stirring or baking) taking hold of it usually standing in the living room waving it back and forth and in her loudest voice, which never amounted to more than a murmur, threated she would smack our tushies if we didn’t HELP! Usually, she wanted HELP when later that day company was arriving for a holiday event. She never ever used the spoon on us, and the only time I heard the smacking sound of the spoon, was when she inadvertently slapped it against the palm of her hand to demonstrate the nightmarish severity of wood on the tushie! If my father was not working (as a policeman he had a variety of shifts so often times he was not around to witness my mother’s torment) but my father would assist my mother’s urging for HELP by swearing he would remove his belt and THAT LEATHER STRAP on a tushie would REALLY hurt, even more than the WOODEN SPOON. That never happened either, but at least my father would give chase, so a kid, you had to really move quickly! Eventually, we would all HELP, because the biggest and best threat was that no one would receive any of my mother’s home cakes or pies. 

2019, and the Attorney General is ignoring the request of the Judiciary committee to both testify before them and supply the entire unredacted Mueller Report, regarding the crimes committed by Trump, who happens, by the will and grace and hacking of Vladimir Putin to be sitting in the White House! Our Constitution is on the side of the request by the Judiciary Committee to have Barr speak before that committee, as well as provide the necessary paperwork. A subpoena will be issued and ignored, and Barr will be held in contempt…BUT in the ERA of Trump, who has NO respect or use for the US Constitution, and has NO idea of how the government of this nation via checks and balances had worked…in this time of real crisis (YEP, you Trump voters or Hillary haters, or Bernie or Bust, or my vote doesn’t count, Susan Sarandon’s, Third Party jerks, along with the enabling Republican leadership), this nation is right at the point of a revolution, not for Freedom but for a revolution of  Authoritarianism to rise and conquer us all. The Dems can threaten subpoena’s contempt citations, but without one single GOP vote, none of that will amount to shit!

My parents God Bless them both tried their best to act tough, to set rules, even going to the extent of the WOODEN SPOON, or the BELT, but chaos reigned, anyway. At least in our house, the real threat was no homemade DESSERT. Oh, yeah, and now we hear Trump talking about redoing his first two years as if he has the power to do so…you know, he just might!

Cinco de Mayo, 2019. The Mexicans are now the enemy of the guy hacked into office, by his wealthy Russian handlers, enabled by a brood of mostly men who can’t win an election, unless they throw into the mix, voter fraud, gerrymandering, voter restrictions, and now poll taxes.

Today the Compromised Agent Trump, decided that it WAS not a good idea to permit Robert Mueller to speak to Congress, under sworn oath, but as usual, thinking that ALL people are as stupid as Trump himself, he did mutter that it was really up to his personal attorney Roy Cohn to make that decision. Then in a brief moment of clarity (a rare condition, considering his level of dementia), Trump said William Barr! The once US Attorney General William Barr, who has not only used the Constitution as toilet paper, not only who has lied under oath, and who not only seems to change his mind in the middle of a sentence, and seemingly is suffering a memory loss of his own, of course will insist that the president is not a regular American citizen, but more of a member of a Royal Family or Deity Species, to be exact, and in being such IS ABOVE the US LAW and maybe even the LAW of NATURE.

None of them, I can assume with great certainty, have no idea what Cinco de Mayo actually is about…but I bet after their fourth or fifth drink…many of them will get really pissed, (not from the alcohol) but wonder, why the fuck is America celebrating a Mexican holiday! Chants will follow telling the bartenders to change that Mexican language name back to its original English name, whatever it was called!

It has been DIFFICULT for me to be brief in expressing my concerns for the future of this nation with regards to our democracy and, albeit a flawed democracy, because I am witnessing the emergence of an authoritarian regime, nurtured by the Republicans, and seemingly enabled by the Democrats. The GOP understands how to play dirty and care less about the body count of those whose lives they have destroyed while they enjoin Vladimir Putin in diminishing the freedoms and liberties of this nation. The Democrats have demonstrated a vagueness, a veiled vision of any game plan, especially one with as much grit and grime, sinister and insidiousness as the Republicans. It is asDemocratsemocrats still believe that in the year 2020, America might still function as a law-abiding country, and in November of that year actually hold honest and fair elections. And in the dream world of let’s do things slowly, never surely, the Democrats provide more ammunition to be stored by men like McConnell, Barr, Giuliani, and Trump, permitting the erosion of America to happen at a much quicker pace than the dangers of unchecked climate change!

DANGER, DANGER WILL ROBINSON…Not one Republican from Aunt Bea (Susan Collins), to Preppy Man, Mittens Romney, to Marco (when I need some PR I pretend to care) Rubio, is going to break ranks with the Communist Manifesto…oops I mean the Sean Hannity/ Republican/Theocratic/FOX News Manifesto, and take any action to Impeach, remove or jail the Compromised Russian Agent, named Trump. Sorry Speaker Pelosi, really sorry useless Minority Loser Schumer, I know you are trying Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler, Elijah Cummings…but ladies and gentlemen as the character, Sonny Wortzik, played by Al Pacino stated in the movie ‘Dog Day Afternoon’ while being arrested:“When I'm getting fucked I like to be kissed.” This at the conclusion of a robbery should have taken 10 minutes. 4 hours later, the bank was like a circus sideshow. 8 hours later, it was the hottest thing on live T.V. 12 hours later, it was history. And it's all true.

On Friday, May 3, 2019, or maybe it was Thursday, May 2, 2019, Trump called his BFF Vlad. Cool huh, Trump IS still sitting in the White House, still identified as Commander-In-Chief, still chilling with his Republican Comrades like McConnell and Graham, still lying his off, still laundering money and still breaking God only knows what kind of laws. Oh yeah and creating laws of all kinds of discrimination, and of course environment poison, and keeping the wealthy rich, and the poor uninsured! And Speaker Pelosi is not quite certain if Impeachment is or isn’t on the table. All the while the Dems are trying their hardest to get ANY documents on Trump's finances and taxes. (Good luck with that).

Maybe where we have gone wrong is that we do not have that once famous blue dress with a  whole bunch of jizz just lingering lazily on it. If only Trump had been wearing that blue dress or one of his made in China Blue Suits while he and his BFF, Vlad had their private meeting. I can only imagine what a slobbering sap Trump is, and it is painful to even think how difficult it was to first get down on his knees and then try to stand up. Perhaps, Little traitor Lindsey demonstrated first!

On Thursday, May 2, 2019, William Barr was asked to report to the US Senate’ Judiciary Committee, as the Attorney General, the American public might assume that being THE TOP OFFICIAL for Justice, only truth and honesty, and the willing WANT for JUSTICE would spew from Mr. Barr’s mouth, flooding the Senate Chamber with the true essence of a democratic will and way. Instead, the Attorney General relinquished his role as America’s top lawyer and replaced his love of country for servitude toward Donald Trump, whose only love currently is self-preservation, and a perversion of the US Constitution and its once proud permission of “checks and balances”

And now, even if your head has been up your own ass or the ass of your best friend or family member wearing the red MAGA hat, you might want to wipe off the FOX News Bull Shit, the Evangelical Pay to Pray mumble jumble, and your White Nationalism/Son or Daughter of the Confederate States slime, and realize that the Russian invasion of the US has been successful and the newly minted Republican Comrades and the extra special Republican Oligarch Treasonous men like McConnell, Nunes/Pence, and the entire Trump Crime Family are ready to jail, cage, and murder.

I had always wondered, as I read and re-read regarding the German Nazi rise to power, as had the young Israeli’s of the 1950s how and why something so OBVIOUS and HEINOUS, could, right in front of our own eyes, HAPPEN. Sadly, as history will do, minus emotion, it WILL repeat itself. Now the question for ALL Americans, how do we react…with passive resistance or active resistance!!!

Under oath, the US Attorney General perjured himself, the supposed, highest authority of justice in the United States, lied, lied some more, demurred, stuttered, had some kind of tickle in his throat taking up enough time to clear it, forgot his Constitutional obligations, and remained arrogant as the Democrats searched for answers, but remained  the loyal agent to the Compromised Agent, named Trump as the Republican’s laid praise on William Barr’s treasonous demonstration of acting as if his only job was to be the personal attorney of Donald Trump. Caring less, or honestly giving one shit, the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Lindsey Graham admitted he hadn’t read the entire Mueller report, in that “I gotta meeting in the ladies room”, attitude, “gonna see you there real soon”. And almost every other GOP compromised agent/or blackmailed agent/or ass licker of Trump refused to press Barr on his allegiance to trump rather than the country. And with great glee, the majority of GOP slugs, I mean Senators brought up Hillary’s name more often than not!

Jumpin Jive, Slight of Hand, Snake Oil Salesman, Enabler of the Enemies of this Nation, William Barr tried his Double Speak and under the careless and reckless disregard for the American people and the Constitutional Law of the Land, Little Lindsey Graham permitted one of the most heinous treasonous actions to slip by without a care in the world for our Democracy! No show at the HOUSE for Barr, nope too afraid of real lawyers…and as the pundits admit and even intelligent journalists and ex-Federal staff, ain’t much else we can do to get Barr to admit the truth. ‘Jumpin Jive’, was a loose tune, a good melody to dance a carefree jitterbug, to let loose on the dance floor. William Barr let loose by shitting on any standards, decency, values, or morals, and today on Thursday, May 2, 2019, Trump masturbated via his Tweets what a really good Attorney General we have in William Barr.

On Wednesday, May 1, 2019, once again, you can listen to the wheezing, choking, gasping for oxygen coming from the mouth of Lady Justice. The Senate, under the leadership of a very ancient man,(Chuck Grassley) made wealthy by the lobbyists of the Agri-Business Complex, an incapable man, even unable to decipher, notes are written to him by his staff, providing him with the luxury of having to have read the Mueller Report himself, struggles to ask a question of William Barr, because for Senator Grassley, like Donald Trump sentences with more than four words in a row is too difficult to understand.  

The Attorney General, the ever ready to lie, deceive, defer, deny, Roy Cohn (Oops, I did it again, I mean William Barr), pretending that his own immediate history had never happened stumbles over which lie will be told first, then second then third, tires his best by running out the clock, just by beating around the clock, and assumes that by speaking about anything BUT his conversation with Robert Mueller or the letter sent to William Barr by Mr. Mueller ever existed will exonerate an already dubious if not destructive narrative, from which William Barr made clear he Trump’s personal attorney and the people’s Attorney General.

Then, and to be honest, THIS IS WHERE I HAD TO STOP WATCHING, FOR FEAR THAT I ACTUALLY MIGHT IMPLODE, Senator Cornyn the Numero Dos lying sack of Republican shit leader, pretends that the first real problem was and is the Dossier (which at first a Republican Donor sought to gain information on Hillary), the second was, the Dems colluding with the Russians, and that third, as President, Trump can fire, for any reason (which of course in Republican Speak is called obstruction) and that reason was based on the demand by the Dems to do so.

Throughout the beginning moments of this façade of a hearing, while William Barr actually looked dumbfounded, and distressed that references were being made to the actual Barr created and imagined summation of the Mueller Report and that HE William Barr was NOT considered THE FINAL WORD, I could feel the stress of being waterboarded. I could not breathe, I could not stop shaking, and I felt that the life of my democracy was draining away. So I turned off the TV, turned to my computer, and promise myself to wait, and wait and wait. I was not fooled by the Republican’s attempt to act like treasonous enemies of the state, but I had no idea just how ill the entire live coverage could make me feel!
