Sunday night at 9:00 Pacific Time Joe and I sit in front of the television placing the burdens and virtues of the week behind us and the promise and potential of the week ahead aside and watch ‘The Walking Dead’. For those of you not of this Earth, it a series about some mystery virus that has virtually turned the American population into flesh eating/no holds barred/without remorse/minus scruples or values Zombies. The series pits ordinary humans against hordes and hordes of creatures whose sole purpose is to eat flesh, destroy sanity, and enact merciless pain and suffering. No one is certain of how the virus found footing transforming America into becoming a desolate landscape hopeless and hapless. The comfort for me in watching programs like this usually is that when the hour is up I can turn to Joe and say phew, thank goodness it was just a piece of fiction.

If you spend one minute, a few hours a week or perseverate as I do listening to the words of politicians, lobbyists, clergymen, pundents, people who swear the Bible supersedes the Constitution, you might wonder what virus has stricken the American population identifying themselves as Christian/Conservative/Patriots/Republican and Tea Party?  It seems there is a new virus causing walking dead to really walk among us. These monsters are inflicted with a virus so virulent that it drains common sense/democracy/decency/ freedom/equality from our Flag, Apple Pie/Bill of Rights/Motherhood and anything that used to be red, white and blue! We are witnessing new Zombies whose mission is to destroy American society, redefine the American way, demoralize civil and human rights. They are walking among us and permitted to do so by Racists, Xenophobes, Homophobes.Misogynists, and Bigots all of whom are carrying a Zombie type virus.This group of walking dead suffer from a virus whose origin is hate. On Sunday’s at 10 when the ‘Walking Dead’ comes to a conclusion for the week, I can breathe a sigh of relief, but the Walking Dead of the Tea-Publican ilk cause sleepless and nightmarish nights and days. This new walking dead are more dangerous and deplorable. Be afraid, very afraid!
