“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” (Preamble to the United States Constitution signed in convention September 17, 1787. Ratified June 21, 1788)
If one were to casually review this Preamble, which was never written as law, but as an introduction leading to a set standard of requirements for a newly created country formed from Revolution. And then, if one were to read the first three words…” we the people…one might assume that anything else, written,(also) WOULD indeed be put in place because we the people desired to contain and control our own destiny.
Clearly, at least from my standpoint, “We the people," living in this nation since the beginning of the 21st Century, seem to be the least important demographic, the odd man out, the less influential group to decide the fate of our nation and the future of its democracy. “We the People”…have witnessed, a covert act of war against democratic principals by foreign powers, disregard for equality by Political parties, via a Judiciary acting as God, creating a whole new “we the people”, by identifying Corporations as people, and an overt intent to introduce, with full power, or is it, greater power, a definition of governing known as PLUTOCRACY, A country or society governed by the wealthy, or an elite or ruling class of people whose power derives from their wealth. “We the People,” may still resonate as some dreamt up version of Americana melancholy, a machination, sounding sweet and forever reminiscent as Mother’s Day, Apple Pie, or Picket Fences, BUT its relevance as serving any kind of establishment for equality or the hokey patronizing, we are one… is dead and gone.
How easy it seems, it is to break the law, Trump has demonstrated the ease by which the Con Game can be won. Not only does Trump believe he can be master of the Universe, but his comrades in arms the Republican Party also think they're Royals, serving in the court of a King. The only “we the people”, who seem to be safe and secure are either the Donors of Dark Money, the Puppets (Congress), receiving bribes, the Evangelicals praying for the rise of a Christian Nation, and the Oligarchs of Putin who desire the same privileges they have murdered for in their own nations, to follow them to America. Truth, justice, welfare, tranquility Blessings of Liberty, were words once written by men who actually believed that “we the people,” could survive. Trump, Congress, the Wealthy, and of course Putin is betting that the bad guy wins and the good guy becomes nothing but a footnote in a democracy that died! We must Resist, WE MUST!
