A tiny religious organization tied to Amy Coney Barrett, Donald Trump’s supreme court nominee, sought to erase all mentions and photos of her from its website before she meets with lawmakers and faces questions at her Senate confirmation hearings.
Barrett, a federal appeals judge, has declined to publicly discuss her decades-long affiliation with People of Praise, a Christian group that opposes abortion and holds that men are divinely ordained as the “head” of the family and faith. Former members have said the group’s leaders teach that wives must submit to the will of their husbands.
Once upon a time, and THIS IS THE HISTORICAL RETROSPECTIVE, The Judiciary Act of 1789 is passed by Congress and signed by President George Washington, establishing the Supreme Court of the United States as a tribunal made up of six justices who were to serve on the court until death or retirement. The U.S. Supreme Court was established by Article 3 of the U.S. Constitution. The Constitution granted the Supreme Court ultimate jurisdiction over all laws, especially those in which their constitutionality was at issue. The high court was also designated to oversee cases concerning treaties of the United States, foreign diplomats, admiralty practice, and maritime jurisdiction.
NOW, THE REALITY PART: The Supreme Court no longer, was Supreme (even Diana Ross, understood that going at alone meant for better fame and fortune) and POLITICIANS, AND POLITICS entered the realm of the COURTS, and declared that the majority opinion no longer was a priority, rather, staying in office and destroying any decency of a once-proud Republic relying on Democracy, was the key to fame and fortune for the Republican Party. So, ACTIVIST JUSTICES were sought, to place on a LIFETIME GOVERNMENTAL INSTITUTION (who the fuck could imagine that one person’s own bias’s and habits should remain intact, while the world around them changed and transformed), and freedoms, equality, rights became nothing more than use PR tools to remain a Senator/Congress Person/ President. And the latest folly has just been on display. So welcome not TRUMP-EAD, as in The Handmaid’s Tale where we now have Amy Of Barrett. Ready to serve inequity, bias against, women’s reproductive rights, the climate, and the environment, voting rights, and of course the LGBTQ community!
