WAIT, WHAT?

 WAIT, WHAT?

The world just got its first real taste of what life is like at 1.5 degrees Celsius July was the warmest month on record, and it won’t be the last. (Washington Post)

Hmmm, 100-year events now happen every 100 days. Once in a lifetime hurricanes, floods tornadoes, and droughts happen at least a dozen times in our lifetimes. And with our eyes wide open, natural disasters become less natural and more and more and more man-made, and yet we watch, and witness, and WAIT, WHAT, we do nothing about them.

WAIT, WHAT?

5 Presidents Who Lost the Popular Vote But Won the Election These presidential candidates didn't need to secure more popular votes to win the election, due to the Electoral College, with two of them in modern history (George W. Bush and Donald J. Trump) (History.com)

Hmmm, the majority of voters have very little final say in the governance of our nation, leaving opportunistic, fake electors, sleazy lawyers, and corrupt courts, to decide the fate of American democracy.  Threats from the past, still haunt our elections, and threats for the future still resonate, but WAIT, WHAT, we do nothing about them.

WAIT, WHAT?

We fought a Revolutionary War to establish a nation of freedom and liberty. We fought a Civil war to abolish slavery. We fought a Second World War, to counter Fascism. We continued a Cold War, hoping to at least keep Communism at bay.

Hmmm, freedom and liberty are now denied to the LGBTQ community, Trans kids, and adults. Free speech is no longer accessible if you wish to read books that include facts about history, philosophies, and subject matters of gender. The primary barrier between Church and State is being torn down. The new chattel happens to be women, the slavery battle it seems is now considered insulting to white folks. Fascism is embraced by a political party, authoritarianism emboldened by a leader of a political party, and the old relics of Communism seem to own the minds of elected officials of a political party. WAIT, WHAT? Once again we witnessed the facts, we fought to change the course of our lives, and yet none of that seems to matter.
