I was never a fan of either John McCain or Barbara Bush. Both individuals, I felt did not best represent my political views nor my values or understanding of freedom for all, and equality as a given. My distrust for Senator McCain erupted when he placed self-interest before country by introducing us to Sarah Palin, and Mrs. Bush had made a habit of crude, sarcastic remarks of a personal nature against Kitty Dukakis. John McCain may have been a hero once, and Barbara Bush a wonderful wife and grandmother, but neither will make my list of American politicians I am most proud. But that is not important, for I am just a cog in a political institution which has never, until recently, worked from the bottom up, (if the 2018 election is NOT a random error) but most of the time has played into “show me the money,” be it dirty, dark or paid with Russian rubles, Chinese yuan, Saudi riyal, or Ukrainian hryvnia. The more Mitch McConnell, the Majority Leader of the Senate, can decide what will be presented as a possible law due to some archaic and good old boy Senate system of backroom deals, and the House Speaker, be it Nancy Pelosi or some GOP douchebag, can shut off debate which may affect millions, my teeny tiny vote seems like one more discovered star in a universe full of billions and billions of stars.
But back to John McCain and Barbara Bush, two deceased Republicans who somehow discovered, later in their lives that Trump was nothing but a pimp for Putin, and finally made some kind of statement of truth, which not only rankled the Grand Old Party, who now march in a straight line following the Orange Pied Piper to the edge of a cliff, and willingly so ready to jump…but have found their way under the thin skin of a paranoid, neurotic psychopath whose only purposes in life is to cheat and get even, lie and act the bully! My rant is not in defense of Senator McCain or First Lady Barbara Bush (because for me, even in death, the history you have created still resonates for the present), but my rant is more about the true cowardliness, lack of conscience or will, and the ability of any and all the current Republican’s to remain silent, as two of their heroes are trashed and treated like road kill!
Are the GOP so afraid to be true to their own values, the values of America to speak against one of the most heinous and horrible people or is this group of men and women so consumed with their own greedy, gluttonous personal privileges as to give one shit about this nation and its history? The disease which will be known as the Trump Syndrome has certainly invaded the minds and bodies of men and women we are stuck with, hoping they will ever make decisions which are best for the majority of this nation and not the minority of MAGA maggots!
