“No one ever told me that grief felt so much like fear”-C.S. Lewis. “She was no longer wrestling the grief but sit down with it as a lasting companion and make it a sharer in her thoughts”-George Eliot. “What separates us from the animals, what separates us from the chaos is our ability to mourn people we’ve never met.”-David Levithan
What makes one day different from another, is a question that might be asked as the morning sun begins its journey across the orbs flung into space almost as if a mother is doting on her children, with a kiss, a hug, and a reminder, that adventures lie ahead. It might be a question asked in the middle of the day, as plans well prioritized go array, suddenly surprises never expected seem surreal but special. It might be the end of the day, when deep dark displays of the vastness of eternity creep over our bodies, boding, brooding, or bringing beautiful memories of a day now almost history. Or it ACTUALLY might be once upon a time A DAY in our life, etched so deeply with sharp metal claws, that no matter how many bandages or stitches used to heal, they still peel away, leaving more than a scar; something like an ache, agonizing, throbbing, thought-provoking, but the action itself so thoughtless. Nine-Eleven, eighteen years ago, a demonstration of weakness turned into a façade of power, causing newfound respect for FEAR. But we as a nation have other DAYS full of FEAR, from Columbine, Aurora, Charlottesville, Sandy Hook, Tree of Life Congregation, Living Church of God, Marjory, Stoneman Douglas High School, Pulse, Foot Hood, The Alfred P Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, just the few of the hundreds we speak loudly about, and the thousands of innocents murdered in cold blood, by the bloody heartless cowards, who only conscience is a weapon of death.
Are we stronger than FEAR, we must not only address that question now but make it a part of history used as a lesson? Trump and his Crime Syndicate of Republican Russian Agents, his Authoritarian Buds, his Cadre or Cabal of American Evangelical Christian Taliban and the empty-headed, paycheck guaranteed FOX Phonies, and those who once hid in closets of Racism, Bigotry, Misogyny, like Ingraham, Hannity, Falwell Jr, Pence, Miller now free and easy extolling the virtues of White superiority are roaming free, and their Days of Death and Destruction are too numerous to mention, but families separated, kids dying in American Concentration Camps or at the Rivers Edge of the Boarder between Mexico and America, and those in Flint Michigan, are morbid reminders. Trump is as dumb as dirt, but smart enough to understand that JUST ENOUGH FEAR is as contagious as the unvaccinated whose privileged parents believe they know more than the medical community and with their own selfish, self-serving whims spread disease. We mourn those who died suddenly on Nine-Eleven, those whose last moments of life were terrifying, and those who slowly are and have succumbed the rot left inside their bodies. When is enough, enough, or is that too difficult a question to even raise?
“When our days become dreary, with low hovering clouds of despair, and when our nights become than a thousand midnights, let us remember there is a creative force in the universe, working to pull down the gigantic mountains of evil, a power that is able to make a way out of no way and transform dark yesterdays into bright tomorrow’s.” -Martin Luther King Jr
