...The same goes for Cawthorn’s being charged in March with driving with a revoked driver’s license — again, the second time he has been charged with this offense — or, for that matter, his two recent speeding tickets for driving nearly 90 mph. Add to that the reporting this week that Cawthorn may have violated federal insider trading laws in December with his hyping of a cryptocurrency that was part of an alleged “pump and dump” scheme. Jean Schmidt sparked outrage during a hearing on an abortion bill when she said a hypothetical teenager traumatized by rape would have the “opportunity” to help that child become a “productive human being.” Schmidt went on to say, in reference to the hypothetical teenager, “It is a shame that it happens but there is an opportunity for that woman, no matter how young or old she is, to make a determination about what she’s going to do to help that life be a productive human being. Just because you have emotional scars doesn’t give you the right to take the life.” Now, Jean Schmidt is lending her voice to the argument, saying those impregnated by rapists have “an opportunity” — not to terminate the unwanted pregnancy, but take the pregnancy to term.  I believe it started with Miss Mac Ateer, in the seventh grade at Linden School, during the year of Social Studies class. We studied Geography, Civics, The Constitution, and American History, way back in the early 1960s. It made sense to the young me, although I might not have dwelled on the philosophical bit of it, the whole part of, taking what we know happened, separating the bad from the good, never attempting the bad, COULD make for a better outcome for tomorrow. I mean ‘DUH,” learn from the mistakes, identify the villains, and do better! When I took History classes in High School and became more aware of the world in which I lived as a Jewish Individual, I also became keenly aware of the German desire to conquer the world one Jewish life at a time, and the quote “Never Again, resonated loudly for me.

 

I have been accused by some of ALWAYS posting about the BAD THING HAPPENING, that I ALWAYS seem to perseverate on the Negative, just let it go, because you can’t change the world…Ya know what…I do, and I will, and I shall continue!  Hard to believe, but One-Hundred and Twenty-Two years ago, the ‘Roaring Twenties’ began! It was a decade from which fables, foibles, fantasy, all colluded, and via movies, television shows, Broadway Plays, and novels, have Americans of all backgrounds, found themselves mesmerized, recounting a mysterious and magical moment of AMERICANA! 2022! Already in the second year of the Twenties, (a Hundred and Two years later), and as I see it, this particular decade might be referenced as the ‘RACIST TWENTIES’!

How far we as a nation HAVE NOT GROWN! Strides, hard-fought, to attain, blood sweat, and tears, are seemingly like the autumn leaves, brown, stale, and dead, easily abandoned and discarded when the wind of HATE huff, puffs and blows hard at FREEDOMS and JUSTICE. 

 

The ‘Roaring Twenties, was all about decadence we are told, delighting in the pleasures of jazz, self-expression, changing the norm, a carefree, cavalier attitude enjoying the pleasures of NOT THE NORM, but establishing a new NORMAL. The ‘Racist Twenties’, for me has taken such an abrupt about-face, from a decade ago, as to cause WHIPLASH, injury to the soul, and denial of any kind of consciousness! From Don’t Say Gay---Criminal laws against abortion---Voter Restrictions---Anti SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) and arduous action to deny Critical Race Theory, this nation, MY COUNTRY, has begun to traverse a path dark, dank, and dangerous!

What I Worry

 A really wonderful kind of April day in North Truro. A Goldilocks kind of day, with the weather neither too hot nor too cold, enough blue in the sky to highlight the meandering white puffy skies; and somehow a coordinated effort between the wind and the sun, permitting a breezy few moments while the sun still shone brightly! The four bird-feeders we have hanging in our backyard, almost make for a picture-perfect Audubon reflective moment, and our various rafters of wild Turkeys parading in feeding shifts almost seem like I am Old Mac Donald, and the farm is located in my backyard. (I heard the humming sound of the garden tools in the garage calling out “Let’s Do Some Outdoor Work,” but let that bit of conversation remain in the garage located in the front of our house. 

Ahh, as Alfred E. Neuman of MAD Magazine fame often stated, “what me worry,” came to mind but since I was raised to believe that in fact worry ahead of time, provides less stress, afterward, when the real worry hits the fan, no matter the beauty of the day, all around us, to not WORRY, seems to just a collective bit of denial!

 

Once upon a time The Tobacco Cartel of America, told us not to worry about smoking and cancer, we didn’t and until we did, while approximately 6 million people died a year. The Oil Cartel, folks like Mobile-Exxon, hid the truth about climate change and global warming, and our government leaders who were RICHLY paid by these Oil Cartels, emphasized the DON’T part of the worry. Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Michigan, Mississippi, Oklahoma, West Virginia, and Wisconsin—still have unenforced pre-Roe abortion bans in their laws. More than 440 bills with provisions that restrict voting access have been introduced in 49 states in the 2021 legislative sessions, and 19 states have enacted 33 laws that will make it harder for Americans to vote. (Once upon a time we were certain Roe V. Wade, and The Voting Rights Act were what made our Democracy important) Oh yeah, remember even now when we are mask free, can spend closer than 6 ft, with friends and family, that while we do not worry, to this date 937,000 have died. WHAT ME WORRY because I fear if I do not, my rights my freedoms, my health, and the lives of my friends and family, may too soon diminish!

Price increases based on so-called SUPPLY AND DEMAND, are inventions by the wealthy, for the richest, to keep anyone WHO IS NOT THEM, in poverty and in jeopardy! 

The child tax credit was a lifeline. Now some families are falling back into poverty. (npr)…So if I read this article, I presume that somehow if the baby is born, be it from rape, incest, or sexual abuse, or even by women who believe that their God wanted this to happen, once that child exits the womb into the real world; THAT CHILD is no longer of concern to the same people who call Reproductive Planning a sin. Once again, people decide a fate of a life not based on the quality of life they MAY OR MAY NOT, acquire, but BASED on what they think are some beliefs of a GOD, they pretend to understand!

 

Everyone is acting so weird! The most obvious recent weirdness was when Will Smith smacked Chris Rock at the Oscars. But if you look closely, people have been behaving badly on smaller stages for months now. Last week, a man was arrested after he punched a gate agent at the Atlanta airport. (The Atlantic) …Once upon a time, throughout the history of humankind, a bit of sanity, fair play, justice, and respect surfaced in the atmosphere, almost as a calming effect persuading HUMANS to actually accept their role as the most INTELLIGENT SPECIES on Earth. But too much like that SILENT FART, which suddenly and silently sneaks upon the hairs inside your nose, the calm and peace are smothered by the ODOROUS smell of something bad. Maybe weird behavior has been around since humankind decided that KINDNESS does not make one HUMAN, but as I see it…ONCE TRUMP AND HIS NARCISSIST, NEUROTIC, MALICIOUS, and MALIGNANT behavior were accepted as some kind of standard, WEIRD BEHAVIOR actually had TRUMPED any semblance of normalcy and decency.

I am so tired of the GOP and their Allies of HATE, trying to define me, my life, my empathy, my intelligence, my justice, my belief in freedoms and liberties, my belief in science, medicine, history, and facts in a most pejorative manner, as if LIES, BIGOTRY, BIAS, HOMOPHOBIA, MYSONGNY, XENOPHOBIA, ANTI-SEMITISM are the truth! I am soooooo tired, of reacting when the Right-Wing HYPOCRITES pretend somehow they are Culture Saviors, when in fact they actually are CULTURE WAR MONGERS!

 

I care, I AM WOKE, I am human, I AM WOKE, I believe in the dignity of life, I AM WOKE, Facts Matter, I AM WOKE, Love is Love, I AM WOKE, Equality and Justice for All, I AM WOKE, I am brave enough to accept people who are not like me, I AM WOKE…if you, HOWEVER, accept the idea that FEAR, LOATHING, DISCRIMINATION, INSECURITY, are the way forward, then as I see it YOU ARE  DEAD, unable to understand that life does NOT revolve around you. Your HATE flows through your corpse instead of blood, it still smothers you as you inhale the stench of stupid. Let all of us who want RIGHT from WRONG to matter stop reacting, let us OWN being WOKE, and let us remind those who are NOT WOKE, that the logical identification for them is telling them they must be DEAD!

 It might not matter, in a real-world, but in this world…Sarah Palin "insulted" Joe Biden picked Black woman for Supreme Court (Newsweek). In a real-world, the sham and shameless demonstration of stupid of a politician so disingenuous as to quit halfway through her elected term would likely be seen as an omen, instead, this fool is a front runner… 

It should not even be a topic by which a civilized citizen living in a civilized nation, should concern themselves, understanding that there IS a limit to stupid, BUT this is 2022 and AMERIKA, and the VIRUS of politicians remaining in office and being DUMB AS SHIT, and most likely being reelected is way too real to IGNORE…Ketanji Brown Jackson’s refusal to be dragged into the GOP’s culture war du jour—during her confirmation hearing, Jackson declined to provide a definition of a woman for anti-trans Tennessee senator Marsha Blackburn—Greene told the Georgia Republican Assembly, “I’m going to tell you right now what is a woman. We came from Adam’s rib. God created us with his hands. We may be the weaker sex, we are the weaker sex, but we are our partner’s, our husband’s, wife.” (Vanity Fair) In a world in which INTELLIGENCE is celebrated, one might laugh this, YET ANOTHER WTF, comment from Greene, but she was serious and is a serious contender to remain a Congress Person!..

 

Palin and Greene, are just two examples of REPUBLICANS whose popularity remains high, because BOTH strongly RANT RACIST/HOMOPHOBIC/even MISOGNISTIC messages to a BASE of VOTERS (so-called AMERIKAN, voters) resonating in the RHYTHM of their HATRED for anyone, not them!
