This week, the Senate is meeting to vote on six government funding bills ahead of a Jan. 30 government shutdown deadline. If Congress now renews the ICE budget with no strings attached, it will become complicit in the violence, violations of rights, and chaos ICE is fomenting every day. (MS NOW)
There are fleeting moments, so it seems, ever since Trump was somehow elected as President, and that somehow, the Republicans in both chambers of Congress had gained the majority, in which the Democrats at least can go full throttle and attempt to stop the authoritarian directions of Trump and his Nazi’s. Fighting back, fighting hard, and pushing back as much as they can must be the motive behind each and every member of the Democrat party in Congress.
Senators have worked hard to negotiate bipartisan compromise spending bills (no easy feat), and they should go ahead and pass the five bills funding other departments. But any bill that would fund ICE and Border Patrol without any meaningful limits is effectively endorsing the conduct of rogue agencies that are causing indelible harm to people across the country, including many U.S. citizens. No senator should want that on their record or their conscience. (MS NOW)
What else must it take, seriously, how many more murders, kidnappings, ignoring due process, by the Trump Secret Police, for the Democrats in government to watch, before they act up, and place as many restrictions as they can on the UNRESTRICTED actions by the Gestapo known as ICE!
This Friday, it might be the last chance to stop ICE from becoming the official military of our nation, and for our nation to become an occupied territory!
