“Donald Trump poses a threat to civilization. The moral purpose of civilized society is to prevent the stronger from attacking the weaker. The US was founded on that principle. (Robert Reich/The Guardian)
With all of my daily angst, my gut hurting, debates in my own head about how it is that evil seems to be winning the battle against good, I missed a straightforward point to this constant worry, and that is, that Donald Trump not only poses a threat to civilization, but IS a threat to civilization.
Knowing this does not ease the anguish I suffer from the moment I wake up to the time I hope I can fall asleep, but knowing this does clarify my symptoms of stress, doom, and hopelessness.
But the sad thing, as I see it, is that without Trump’s cadre of enablers, sycophants, con artists, users, takers, bigots, racists, and cowards, Trump’s threat would not be anywhere near as destructive as it is now and continues to grow.
The frustration of living in a world dominated by people like Trump is bad enough, but living in this nation with his homegrown army of evil makes my daily existence tenuous and treacherous!
