which witch hunt

The Salem witch trials were a series of hearings before county court trials to prosecute people accused of witchcraft in the counties of Essex, Suffolk, and Middlesex in Colonial Massachusetts, between February 1692 and May 1693. Despite being generally known as the Salem witch trials, the preliminary hearings in 1692 were conducted in a variety of towns across the province: Salem Village (now Danvers), Ipswich, Andover and Salem Town.

The episode is one of the most famous cases of mass hysteria, and has been used in political rhetoric and popular literature as a vivid cautionary tale about the dangers of isolationism, religious extremism, false accusations, lapses in due process, and governmental intrusion on individual liberties. Seems there was real trouble a-brewing in ye olde New England. Seems that the only way to squelch the situation was to create a newer, scarier situation, remove the real issues and invent something bigger more boogieman like. Throw in some women who love Satan, disrespect their owners (their husbands), throttle it with anti Christian revulsion, and make it perk with anti family innuendo and wham bam, WITCHES. No one can argue when black magic is being dispensed and directed at the core values established by God fearing, self serving white men.

After Newt Gingrich led the Republicans to a historic victory in the 1994 elections, GOPers controlling the House and Senate viewed the Clinton White House as investigative chum. With the right wing pushing a variety of conspiracy theories—religious right leader Jerry Falwell actually peddled a video that accused Bill Clinton of involvement in drug smuggling and various murders—House committee chairs began a flurry of free-wheeling investigations of the administration.

"The amount of time and energy spent responding to subpoenas was massive," recalls a Clinton White House aide. "It shut everything down.

For all the Republican mudslinging, Clinton won reelection in 1996. And Hillary went on to be elected a senator in 2000. But the subpoenapalooza did fulfill a strategic aim of the Newtites: It pinned the White House down. Burton issued 1,052 subpoenas to the executive branch and congressional Democrats from 1997 to 2002. "The amount of time and energy spent responding to subpoenas was massive," (mother jones)

There was trouble a-brewing In DC. The good guy was popular so he had to have his wings turned into a tail and pointy ears. Who better for the transformation then the brethren of Lucifer, a single minded (minding his own welfare and future), Newt named Gingrich. Twist the realities of those Americans who needed more than truth to fill the void in their lives. Mangle any aspect of honest and fill the airwaves with lies, fabrications and fable. Capture the talking points by inventing your own points of interest, promising to make things better, but making them worse before you even begin. And you have a Contract with America, or was it a Contract with the Devil?

Republicans/Tea Baggers, having taken control of the House and boosted their seats in the Senate, are promising to take aim at the president's agenda, from his spending plans to his health care overhaul. And they're not wasting any time.

Republicans in the House are planning to vote on a full repeal of Obama's health care law before the president's State of the Union address later this month. However, Democrats will control the Senate and could thwart the repeal drive. And Obama has promised to veto a repeal if it reaches his desk. Even so, Republicans say they will try to starve the overhaul of money and dismantle it piece by piece. (msnbc.com)

Time to grandstand, grotesquely misinform, to play politics before playing fair, to confuse the truth, to Palinize the facts and tell America what is wrong is wrong because the Democrats did it. No time to inform, to define, to actualize the wrongdoings, but rather to wrong anything done by the Democrats. It is Tea Bagger Time in America and there is never any need to really work for the people, but more time to work the people up into thinking that you are either on one side of good or on the other side of bad. The devil is in the details and anyone knows anything associated with the devil is BAD!

From Witch Hunts, to the Contract with America, to the Tea Bag Brigade, we have seen in our history that those most gullible can and will be guided by sinister, sad, insincere self serving shysters. Always good at pointing to others for fault, never divulging the truth, dividing to conquer, those who grab power from the stupid, lame seem to disregard morals, ethics or values. They create their own rules and like no one but themselves to regulate their very actions.

From Witch Hunts, to the Contract with America to the Tea Baggers American life has been compromised, cheated and leveled with great consequence. It’s like a get rich easy trick, a shell game, a just send us $500 and we will uncover your missing inheritance schtick. It is a sham all dressed up in either God, or the Flag, a Christian Nation, or Motherhood. It has been and seems to be false, phony, and filled with nothing but BS.

And in 2010 we voted for the shame chicanery, the same pie in the face, the same whoopee cushion without looking back at a history which proved all of this hocus pocus to be insane, irresponsible, and idiotic.

Here comes 2011, wonder which witch hunt it will be next?
