Walked our little dog, came in and had a shake for breakfast, reluctantly turned on the news, hoping that perhaps the law finally caught up with Trump and his Crime Family, sat in front of the TV, saw a bunch of Talking Heads, and knew that the unusual, which has now become the usual was once again being shared as news…(you know another Trump lie, another Trump exaggeration, another Trump fuck you America, and another Republican response as to there is nothing here to see…but I was incorrect…its seems just as the the Talking Heads wee beginning to debate the difference between Trump BAD and other kinds of BAD a “Breaking News” announcement flashing in all its fire engine red clamor and color took us away from the current set on MSNBC and suddenly we were watching four people standing inside a Fire Station. The man talking had been one of the passengers on the ill fated Southwest Airline, whose one jet engine caught fire. It seems this man is a paramedic and he did his best to try and save the life of the one woman whose window cracked and perished in this horrific airline accident. The man was being interviewed and asked if he knew he was a hero. Shyly and very honestly humbled he responded no, that he was just doing his job and acting like a responsible human. Sweet, I thought, he tried, he got involved and he did his best. But then the paramedic’s (The hero) wife intervened, sniffling her tears wiping her eyes, holding on to her husbands hand for support, and she then spoke. It was then that I listened a little more intently, and had almost wished I was watching ANYTHING TRUMP.
It seems the wife of the paramedic, was certain Jesus had planned for all the people who were passengers on the Southwest plane, to be gathered together. The wife continued, that Jesus always has a plan, and just watching those amazing people (other passengers tried their dardnest to assist in saving lives), the wife of the paramedic knew there was a purpose for this. It seems in her estimation Jesus planned this tragedy to demonstrate the good will in this world. The paramedic’s mom and dad were standing by, and all the while the wife of the paramedic was congratulating Jesus for letting such great people be gathered on one disastrous southwest flight, mom and pop nodded their heads. Yep something good came from the death of the one passenger, because it demonstrated people have compassion. At the end of the Jesus did this for a purpose dissertation, the paramedic himself, acknowledged hi sorrow for the dead passenger and her family, but felt good about the gathering of souls, in on place on one plane. And then, I had to first turn off the TV, and second SCREAM! I did SCREAM and scared our little dog, Chance.
I believe in my God, I am never sure of my God’s reasoning or will or rhyme, but have always found it comforting to pray and actually talk to God. We can all be hero’s if we choose, but when I hear a story like this, am I to suppose that the passenger who perished was not a good person, more of a martyr, helping to prove some other people are good. Religion has become a trick question in America. We are told that being religious makes us better. We have Evangelicals who will pin point each and every evil aspect of the LGBT community and women who wish freedom of their own bodies, but they will support a man like Trump who lies, cheats, is an admitted adulterer, and a thief. We are told by Christian politicians, that family and children are gifts from God, yet almost every bill they pass denies food, shelter and medical care for children and family. And now, I was and listen as a man who in fact did a good deed, is thanking his God for bringing all of those people on the same plane, so his God could remind us of the good a collection of people can do. Dear God, why!
