Patiently or NOT, I hope

Many people I call friends, some FB acquaintances, and my family respect my strong emotions regarding the current events in which we live. Many, however, have worried and wondered just what kind of a toll the politics within America have taken on me. Rightfully so, I suppose, because I find injustice, bullying, lying, fraud, racism, hate, and bigotry, to name a few, intolerable. I know, and most of those who read my daily rants are in agreement that EVIL is here and now in America…not that it hadn’t been in the past, but this time around, it is OVERT as well as COVERT! I perseverate regarding who actually, in power and authority, is aware of all of these anti-American actions.

Today, I read an article in POLITICO from a writer who, at least for the time being, has calmed my racing heart. I want to believe him; I truly do.

Trump Will Overplay His Hand. Here’s How to Be Ready. I lived through the rise of authoritarianism in Turkey. Here’s what I learned. (By ASLI AYDINTASBAS/POLTICO)

1.        Don’t panic-Autocracy takes time.

2.        Don’t Disengage-Stay Connected

3.        Don’t Fear the Infighting

4.        Charismatic Leadership is Non-Negotiable

5.        Skip Protests and Identity Politics

6.        Have Hope

Reading these suggestions has caused me even more angst because some seem counterintuitive for me, but it has caused me some pause and a newer way to try and handle this life in which we all find ourselves!
