A serial film, film serial (or just serial), movie serial, or chapter play, is a motion picture form popular during the first half of the 20th century, consisting of a series of short subjects exhibited in consecutive order at one theater, generally advancing weekly, until the series is completed.
Each chapter was screened at a movie theater for one week, and ended with a cliffhanger, in which characters found themselves in perilous situations with little apparent chance of escape. I feel as if, living in the world these past 8 years, especially in the United States, almost every day, seemingly every week, I AM LIVING IN a SERIAL MOVIE, complete with Protagonists/Antagonists/ and fucking CLIFFHANGERS. Just as I celebrated a slight victory for Democracy with the re-election of Senator Warnock, I am now confronted with the news that once again the Conservative, (or maybe just identify them as Christian Nationalist Fascist Judges) are weighing the right of voters to elect their politicians, against the wrong of state legislatures to decide the outcome of elections:=====The U.S. Supreme Court held tense arguments on Wednesday in a Republican appeal that could transform American elections by giving politicians more power over voting rules and curbing the ability of state courts to scrutinize their actions (Reuters).
Wasn’t it enough to have squirmed and broken out in a rash during the Mid Terms, hoping that American Government would not become the TRUMP BANANA REPUBLIC? But now a Court of APPOINTED JUDGES (I prefer to NOT use the word JUSTICE, as so far with the GOP Evangelical Christians there is no JUSTICE), once again seems to confuse the Constitution with the Bible:===== The graphic designer and her supporters argue that ruling against her could force artists to do work that is against their faith. Democracy, Freedom, Justice, Liberty, Equality, The Constitution, all of the aforementioned just seem to become one more SERIAL MOVIE after the other, from which, we the people must hold our breaths, knowing that one more CLIFFHANGER after another, after another is coming our way. All I want is the part where we can finally say, AND AMERICA AND ITS DEMOCRACY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER!
