The way it was JUST isn’t anymore. Remember when the only time you saw blacks in the movies was when they were tap dancing, handing a mink stole for the white ingénue to wear, or had a broom in their hands saying yes’m or no sir. When the Jewish character was either a greedy attorney ready to evict you or some nebbishy character ugly and always assumed to be a serial killer kind of person, or of course a sinister personality at the ready to steal your hard earned income. Remember when girls were either clad in the briefest of bikini’s enticing a man to leave his un bikini clad wife, or when wives ONLY stayed home wearing pearls and a stylish outfit as they cleaned the house, made dinner and poured her MAN a drink, or were threatened to be slapped if they pissed off their man. Remember when homosexuals were always drug addicts, deviants out to claim the souls of children or so feeble in character as to only feel pathetic and sorry for, or always the first character to assume had committed a crime or was the murderer.

When you turned on television and some evangelical Christian snake oil salesmen pretending to be a Bishop or Minister would insist that it has been the Jews who killed Christ. When the plot of a television show focused on a good man being drawn to drink because his wife was really a bitch or never satisfied him. When anyone with a disability was referred to as retarded. When only white men were the hero’s of any movie. When white men placed yellow make-up on their faces to play Asian characters, and Asian’s were referred to as Orientals.When black face was considered art and the only black people even given a consideration for a role in a movie had to look as white as possible. Remember when some neighborhoods would display signs Jews, Catholics, Negro’s and dogs not welcome.
JUST because that was the way it WAS never had any truth or fact behind it, it JUST contained an accepted bias and bigotry which at the time was just as American as apple pie, motherhood the flag and baseball. Now it seems the way it WAS is romanced by the Republican Party. Some T-Bagging school board's want to explain away slavery as good for capitalism…Republican dominated state legislatures once again insist that voting does not automatically come with American citizenship. Women are whores, inviting rapists to impregnate them and none of this would happen if they brought back Jesus into their lives. Food stamps pre-school education, health care are gifts from the Devil. All lives matter but not so much if those lives are black. JUST because it once was and we believed that was coo suddenly has returned and if you listen closely enough to the brigade of baboons running for president especially from the T-Bagging Fascist Theocracy Party, you can hear the theme song from ‘All in the Family’, “Those Were the Days.”
