There is a Racist sitting in the Capitol building of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Pictures surfaced of a young Ralph Northam, either dressed in Black Face or wearing the Old School version of the MAGA Hat, a white robe and a white cone, (almost looking like the Cone Heads from the old school skits of SNL). At first Governor Northam admitted he had participated in this very Racist and bigoted behavior, then, I suppose after paying big bucks to some “let’s Make this Ugly thing go away PR firm, more interested in effect than cause) must have decided that a lapse in memory was a better excuse, then admitting to a very heinous behavior. Now, the excuse was…well folks that is the way things were in the ’80s, and not knowing any better, is the real devil in the details. Instead of resigning, Governor Northam insists that was then and this IS now. He does have a point but makes no sense at all. If the Governor was a plain citizen, a common man from the Commonwealth of America, one might applaud his sudden surge of education regarding Racist and Bigoted actions, and as we might, welcome him to the world where the color of skin should not make a difference. But Mr. Northam IS an elected official, and his responsibility to do the right thing, in hopes of making all of his constituents more comfortable is to step down, and then take his newly found courage and work as a private citizen to explain, history has both truth and consequences attached to it.
But I cannot just start and stop with Governor Northam, because the scenario playing out in Richmond, is showcasing on a much wider screen, playing to a bigger market, in the District of Columbia on Pennsylvania Avenue, with a White Supremacist, there are “Good Nazi’s”, transgendered people are less equal to serve in the military, if you are brown skinned you are not welcomed into this nation and we will punish you by removing you from your children, Russian compromised agent, an anarchist, who has demonstrated for the past two years (and now that we are finally getting some transparency into his past) for almost entire lifetime a bias, bigotry, hate and loathing for most anyone not named Trump or Putin. The outrage over the Governor of Virginia is justified, and as is the case is being covered so closely by ALL the Cable News outlets, one might think, that Governor Northam is the only Racist villain in the land. How amazing, that the same effort, and drama is not being demonstrated for the removal of Trump, Steve King, Mike Pence, all who hate the person of color, the non-English speaking brown skinned person, the homosexual, and the female who dares to demand the rights to her own body! The Press is oh so brave to pick on the lower hanging fruit, to NOT stop with their demands and their Talking Head assessment. There is no place in our politics for bigotry…yet somehow if anyone Trump, or anyone Republican performs their dance of hate, it seems justified because after all they are just Republicans and…well you know they are performing for their base. All hate is wrong and NONE of it nor ANYONE bathing in it deserves to NOT establish any policies or governing principles. And the energy used for toward picking off the lower hanging fruit should enjoy the same unending zest and zeal to reach the higher branches. When is hypocrisy just so overwhelming that to inhale it one more time, it will just stop you from breathing?
