In 1972 the Staples Singers released their single, ‘Respect Yourself,’ the lyrics immediately spoke to me, and having no idea I fell in love with a Christian Gospel Pop Record, I quoted the myriad of verses; thinking NOW THIS MAKES SENSE. It is now 2021, forty-nine years later and I found myself singing along to ‘Respect Yourself’, popping out of my earbuds as I was working out. (I am so old school in listening to music, that my favorite lists of music are all 60’s and 70’s, you know crotchety old man music!)
