“You Go Girl,” (Unconfirmed, although many site the 1992 – 1997 Martin Lawrence television show Martin as its original source.) I remember, visiting my kids, as a divorced dad, arriving from Houston, where I was working, returning to Pittsburgh, and on this particular visit, I arrived at the field where my daughter was playing soccer. I had missed too many in-person triumphs for both of my kids, and JUST being able to watch my daughter play soccer, which she excelled in, made the sad, somber, melancholy moments of divorce a bit brighter. I got to the field, and in about 10 minutes, my daughter scored a goal, and by some circumstance scored a second by the magic of her skill and teammates. I ran over to her, and the first thing out of my mouth was the slang “YOU GO GIRL!” of course followed up with I love you.
Almost immediately her teammates hovered around her, and shouted what a cool dad she had, for ME to use the phrase “YOU GO GIRL!” I even got a few high fives, from her teammates, and a thumbs up from my daughter. On the way home from the game, my daughter, said, I was the first dad to say, “YOU GO GIRL,” and although it could have been ‘queer’, the way I said it was cool. (My kids and I had our own translation of queer back then, and it was not used as a part of the LGBTQ term, but as weird or off-put, old school term for queer.) It was interesting even now, as I recall that event; exactly how words are used and by whom, and exactly when it is kind of queer (old school definition) for the inappropriate person to say words they have no idea of what they mean!
WOKE: Woke is a term that refers to awareness of issues that concern social justice and racial justice. It is sometimes used in the African-American Vernacular English expression stay woke. I have to almost CHOKE, now, when suddenly the GOP douchebag Senators like Dandy Randy Paul, or Teddy (I speak to Jesus) Cruz or Tommy (I will act as if I am the president) Cotton get all pissed off when corporations finally come out and push back on Racism and Bigotry. These HYPOCRITES, are now all over themselves explaining the WOKE Corporations are bad People (Remember it was the GOP who demanded Corporations ARE people.) To imagine that Paul or Cruz or Cotton even have an inkling of why and how and what for WOKE is even a term amazes me. AND to be honest, it embarrasses me (as if one more BS trick from these Three Stooges could embarrass anyone) to hear them say the word WOKE. Let me just say, as once COOL DAD, these three men ARE NOT COOL, not even almost COOL!
