a monster

1818- I saw—with shut eyes, but acute mental vision—I saw the pale student of unhallowed arts kneeling beside the thing he had put together. I saw the hideous phantasm of a man stretched out, and then, on the working of some powerful engine, show signs of life and stir with an uneasy, half-vital motion. Frightful must it be, for supremely frightful would be the effect of any human endeavor to mock the stupendous mechanism of the Creator of the world.-quote from the novel Frankenstein by Mary Shelley

So much has been done, exclaimed the soul of Frankenstein—more, far more, will I achieve; treading in the steps already marked, I will pioneer a new way, explore unknown powers, and unfold to the world the deepest mysteries of creation. -quote from the novel frankenstein by Mary Shelley

1931- Henry Frankenstein: Look! It's moving. It's alive. It's alive... It's alive, it's moving, it's alive, it's alive, it's alive, it's alive, IT'S ALIVE!

Victor Moritz: Henry - In the name of God!

Henry Frankenstein: Oh, in the name of God! Now I know what it feels like to be God! quote from the movie ‘Frankenstein’ written by Francis Edwards Faragoh/Garrett Fort

Doctor Waldman: You have created a monster, and it will destroy you! -quote from the movie ‘Frankenstein’ written by Francis Edwards Faragoh/Garrett Fort.

In 1818 Mary Shelley first introduced us to a creature created from the dead something with supernatural unworldly instincts. In 1931 James Whale brought his unearthly creature to the black and white screen. We read the book, saw the movie and witnessing both sighed that sigh making us safe knowing it was just fiction, just an illusion on celluloid. The book would end, and the movie parade The End as the final credits rolled by.

In 2010 Charles G. and David H. Koch with the assistance of Dick Armey and Freedom Works, and the who-hah from Republican activists Supreme Court Judges Anton Scalia and Clarence Thomas invented a new monster. This one made from bias, bigotry, gluttony and greed was brought to the doorsteps remotes controls town halls and Evangelical pulpits of Mr. and Mrs. America to scare the pants off the dumb and keep the rich richer. This monster was called the Tea Party.

Like Frankenstein it lacked a heart and was only brought to life using the electric charges and scare tactics of sexism, religious dogma, homophobia,Christian crusades, xenophobia, and racism. Like Frankenstein it was created with ill will and no understanding of how man left unchecked can become a man making a monster.

In the novel and the movie Frankenstein terrorizes the village and the villagers finding just how vulnerable innocents can be. The Frankenstein of 2010/2011 terrorizes a woman who wants ownership of her reproductive rights, a worker who wants to earn a fair wage with fair benefits, a man who genuinely loves another man an individual who wants to worship a God of his choice. The Tea Party Frankenstein howls with excitement as it makes more and more innocents vulnerable.

In the novel and the movie Frankenstein was an experiment that at first was an attempt by a scientist to act like God without understanding any or all repercussions, it came to life as precious charges of electricity ran amok through out the creatures body. In 2010 the monster was a devious attempt by people who loathed the democratic way, the life, liberty, pursuit of happiness American way for anyone but the clique of wealthy and powerful. And in 2010 the monster was brought to life because the fearful, the hateful, the angry voted while others stayed at home thinking that one single vote does not count.

Scary to think that the Frankenstein monster of 2011 has shown his face in Wisconsin, Arizona, Utah and Washington DC. He now has his eye on lots of states who elected a majority of Republicans who only cow tow to the monster’s creators hoping to find favor in the destruction of American life.

Be afraid, be very afraid!
