HMMMMMMMMMMM

HUH! Let me understand this, or at least let me TRYYYYYYYYYYYYY to understand this. We witness more and more each and every day, a decline in the climate and hospitable environment of OUR WORLD (as in the estimated 8.1 Billion humans). Of course, not all of the 8.1 billion humans agree that a few generations from now, there will actually be even less of a chance for future generations to live well let alone thrive. Of course, there are populations who are off the grid, trying to live lives similar to their ancestors, who have zero idea of the mess the rest of us have created. And of course, as I see it there is this entirely new subset of the ultra-wealthy who think that with enough money they can survive the chaos that that created by making their money

“The world agreed to ‘try harder’, shorthand for ‘not any time soon’”

So was COP28 in Dubai a success? Well, to be honest, there is only one measure of a truly successful COP, and that is when global carbon emissions stop rising and start falling. Yet for all its flaws, the conference has helped to frame the debate, generate clear goals and push us, albeit achingly slowly, a little further in the right direction.

Besides, there is nothing else. The UN Climate Change Conference is all we have. (BBC Wildlife)

'Category 5' was considered the worst hurricane. There's something scarier, study says. “As a cautious scientist, you never want to cry wolf,” said Michael Wehner, co-author and climate scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. But after searching for the signature of climate change in the world’s most intense cyclones, Wehner said he and co-author Jim Kossin found “the wolf is here.”

“Significantly increasing” temperatures, fueled by greenhouse gas emissions, up the energy available to the most intense tropical cyclones, reported Wehner and Kossin, a retired federal scientist and science advisor at the nonprofit First Street Foundation. (USA Today)

Many religions proudly say that not only are thy brothers keepers (of course not if your brother knows she is your sister, or not the same color as you, or not idolizing your idols), and many religions proudly claim that we shall inherit the Earth and all of the Creatures of the Earth. (10 quintillion, which is 10 billion, billion of those) And yet, it seems that a majority of folks have one response to saving these creatures, and that is MEH!

The World Is Losing Migratory Species at Alarming Rates

A first of its kind U.N. study by conservation scientists finds nearly half of internationally protected migratory species are on their way to extinction. (Inside Climate News)

I read an article where a scientist begs the question “WHY CAN’T WE SPEND THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME AND MONEY TO SEEK NEW HABITABLE WORLDS, AND JUST MAKE OUR OWN WORLD HABITABLE.” Hmmmmm, WHY NOT?
