no more POO

Just looking at it from the periphery, it seems like silly stuff, the stuff that one could say much ado about nothing. But then again when you look a bit closer, all this ado about nothing stuff seems to add up to one large pile of foul smelling POO. It seems double standards, loose standards, no standards have become the mantra for 2010, and I believe if left alone will become the anthem for 2011 and beyond.

Easy breezy reading and you can find dozens of stories about Kelsey Grammar running down the path toward his fourth marriage. Still legally wed to bride number three he has fallen head over heals for bride number four and as soon as the state of California says okey doe key, Kelsey will marry…again! The state of California is in the throws of a very important debate about the sanctity of marriage and how when two people who do love each other that happen to be of the same gender wed, the future of the Institution of Marriage will collapse and the end of civilization as we know it will cease. There is great angst shared by hetero’s who think homo’s know nothing about Gods way for marriage, but the same hetero’s have little to no comment on the lack of love and sincerity of a straight marriage. Cheat, lie, participate in adultery, but still get married cause that’s what heterosexual men and women can do in God’s plan. Permit Gays to even attempt to marry and the Devil have found his way, leading to the end of days! I wish Kelsey Grammar good luck on his fourth attempt, but would like to wish my same sex friends better luck on their first attempt.

Following in the foot steps of other reality star females, like Snookie and Sarah Palin, Amber Portwood newly crowned femme fatale of the MTV series Teen Mom, was recently released from jail Tuesday, after spending 24 hours behind bars on domestic violence charges stemming from an on camera brawl with her daughter Leah’s father Gary Shirley that unfolded in front of Leah. She is facing three felony charges--two counts of domestic battery and one count of neglect of a dependent, along with one misdemeanor charge of domestic battery.

I don’t watch Teen Mom. (But in reading the news or listening to the newscast, it seems that Amber Portwood is mentioned in the first 5 minutes) I know when my son and daughter were both teens, I as a caring Dad who happened to be a Gay man also, made sure that I instilled values, morals, ethics and standards in my children’s lives. I know that their mother and I made sure that we spoke about love, sex and responsibility. We knew that opportunities both positive and negative would smack our kids in the face and both my ex wife and I made sure to explain the consequences of the good , the bad and the ugly.

But talk to the Family Values folk the ones who want to deny the LGBT community any rights in having kids, raising kids, adopting kids, you hear lots of hubbub about Gods disgust with Gay moms and dads. You hear how hell will take over the Earth when two of the same gender raises kids. You never hear about the value of love in a home and you never hear how wrong it is to have straight people raise kids who have very little love or respect for them.

I hope Amber Portwood enjoyed her 15 minutes of fame, but I worry about the 15 years or more of emotional baggage her daughter Leah will carry with her from these disastrous formative years.

There are tons and tons of double standards bandied about in this nation by people who disguise their racism, homophobia, sexism as tenants from God as they claim they are messengers of God’s will and way.

The Roman Catholic Church has hidden records of abusive, molesting Priests, and when found with a smoking gun in their parishes blame someone else for placing the gun in their hands. Dozens of evangelical ministers proclaim the evil of the Gay, the ruining of the Races as they practice adultery, embezzlement, and blasphemy. Conservative Christians recite verse and chapter from their Testament, but refuse to help the poor, provide health care, give the unemployed money to live. Orthodox Rabbi’s in New York are ready to support a man for Governor who cheats on his wife, owns a large sex business, threatens his political opponents physically but once he says something nice about Gays, wants to part the Red Sea in front of his house.

This all could be perceived as silly stuff. The question could be asked why bother. You might even say it is what it is. But none of this stuff happens in a vacuum, and none of this stuff is isolated. And all of this stuff can, does and will affect all of us.

So often we in America act so bewildered as to how difficult, dire circumstances find their way into our lives, we seem amazed that something bad has happened. We run then find we ran on empty. We feed then find we are weighed down with the food in our belly. We hoard and find that there is no room to move. We look ahead and pause to even consider the here and now.

I am so tired of double, loose and no standards. It seems like silly stuff, small stuff, useless stuff at first, but somehow all of it accumulates and becomes big stuff, smothering stuff stuff that smells like a large pile of POO. I am so tired of stepping in POO others just drop off and take no responsibility in creating. No more POO. please!
