of Labor

Equal is everyone getting the same thing. Fair is everyone getting what they need to be successful. We will always try to be fair, but it won't always feel equal.” – U. “Being good is easy, what is difficult is being just.” – Victor Hugo.

The May 4, 1886, rally at Haymarket Square was organized by labor radicals to protest the killing and wounding of several workers by the Chicago police during a strike the day before at the McCormick Reaper Works.

The Haymarket affair was the aftermath of a bombing that took place at a labor demonstration on May 4, 1886, at Haymarket Square in Chicago. It began as a peaceful rally in support of workers striking for an eight-hour work day, the day after police killed one and injured several workers.Employers decided that police should not be used to restore order. Employers agreed not to use strikebreakers. Employers grew more suspicious of labor unions. Employers began to strongly support labor unions.

“Equality is treating everyone the same. But equity is taking differences into account, so everyone has a chance to succeed.”-Jodi Picoult/Small Great Things Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country. On this date, President Grover Cleveland signed S. 730 into law declaring Labor Day a national holiday. Since 1882, Labor Day had been celebrated at the local and state level. When the United States began to seriously consider creating a national holiday for workers, U.S. President Grover Cleveland did not want to choose the May date because of its association with the Haymaker bombing, so instead picked the alternative day in September.

The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), the nation’s largest police union, announced it is endorsing President Trump on Friday and praised him for his calls for law and order. “Public safety will undoubtedly be a main focus for voters in this year’s election,” FOP President Patrick Yoes said in a statement. “Look at what the national discourse has focused on for the last six months. President Trump has shown time after time that he supports our law enforcement officers and understands the issues our members face every day. So here we have it, the Men and Women In Blue, overlooking all and any other crimes committed by Trump and his Swamp because those somehow were against other groups.
 The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors

“Arise, ye prisoners of starvation!
Fight for your own emancipation;
Arise, ye slaves of ev’ry nation, in One Union Grand.
Our little ones for bread are crying;
And millions are from hunger dying;
The end the means is justifying,
‘Tis the final stand.” (Workers of the World Awaken/Joe Hill)
