The mystery of the hanging chads in Florida, we knew there was a problem when a tiny hole punch became large enough to call in the Supreme Court to settle the results of a presidential election. We sighed and stammered, our democracy, we shallowly yelled and screamed, our American way has been tampered with and left to look like an empty shell, all of this happening in what was supposed to be the mightiest nation in the world. Time moved on and in a typical now you see it now you don’t political play, neither the Republicans or the the Democrats did much to solve the problem. The Supreme Court once again stepped into the election fray and gave birth to the Corporation, saying it was now a person. A new type of being wealthier than the average human, mightier then most, and with enough superpowers to move any piece of legislation it so desired. Not to be outdone, the Supreme Court, still a wily body of nine declared that the old days of checks and balances regarding the right to vote, were just that…OLD…these are modern times said the Court so don’t worry, EVERYONE’S right to vote will be upheld…except when it wasn’t!
So, here we are once again, with all kinds of interference and irregularities abound, acting as if this time IS the first time something as UnAmerican as THIS, has found its footing in this red, white and blue nation. Ahhh, talk is cheap so we do a lot of that. Hacking of polling machines, limited polling place locations, less days to pre-vote, ID Laws changing and rearranging who REALLY can vote. An electoral college, thinking it is just one more scam by the people who brought you Trump University. Espionage, foreign intervention, lack of concern from one political party, media making the news and not reporting the news, fraud, frenzy and the freedom of one person one vote evaporated. What to do, what to do….
Most likely, NOTHING. As great on paper as it sounds, the practical ideals of a democratic process have, like all of the newest of tech innovations, moved on moved ahead. Politics is a big money business, the business owners, the mega million dollar donors can’t trust its employees (The American public) to run the business. We the people has become, we the politicians.And we the politicians have their own agenda’s like lining their bank accounts, fulfilling their own personal needs. We will continue to be like those hanging chads, without form or function, unless we finally pull ourselves together and take back this nation, ourselves!
