and she history with words

“HISTORY repeats itself, first as a tragedy, second as a farce.”/Karl Marx

“Today I have stood where Jefferson Davis stood and took an oath to my people. It is very appropriate then that from this Cradle of the Confederacy, this very heart of the great Anglo-Saxon Southland, that today we sound the drum for freedom. . . . In the name of the greatest people that have ever trod this earth, I draw the line in the dust and toss the gauntlet before the feet of tyranny. And I say, Segregation now! Segregation tomorrow! Segregation forever!” (George Wallace/Announcing his candidacy for President)-------- “You have seen the breakdown of law and order in your own state. And according to the decisions of the Supreme Court, if you go--if you go into the streets tonight and are attacked and a policeman knocks the person in the head, he'll be let out of jail before you get into the hospital and then they go and try the policeman about it.” (George Wallace/Toledo Ohio)-------- Wallace, then, took up the cause of common citizens who had been estranged from their government. His campaign centered mainly around the issues of segregation, law, and order, and patriotism. He also spoke about federal interference in local schools, including busing and racial balance; the liberal Supreme Court; federal restrictions over the sale of private homes; and heavy federal taxation (Commentary from Billington/The Political South)

“We cannot solve our problems with the same things we used to create them.”/Albert Einstein

With a defense of Confederate flags and a false accusation against a Black NASCAR driver, Bubba Wallace, President Trump is focusing on racial and cultural flashpoints to appeal to his base. On Monday, he also tweeted his displeasure with sports teams that are reviewing the appropriateness of nicknames that are offensive to Native Americans, seeking to curry favor with Americans who believe political correctness has gone too far. He has invoked fear of crime with tweets about sanctuary cities and crime rates in New York and Chicago and has spoken of preserving “our heritage,” picking up the language of those who want to honor the Confederacy. TRUTH: It’s the new hate speech! “During times of unusual deceits, telling the truth becomes and revolutionary act.”/George Orwell

And then this! “Right-wing figures eager to downplay the coronavirus pandemic outbreak have hit on a new idea: filming quiet hospital parking lots. Over the weekend, a growing number of pro-Trump personalities decided that the way to prove that the media was overhyping the pandemic was to film places where cars and ambulances show up to drop patients off.” (April 1,2020-------- The mayors of Houston and Austin — two of the largest cities in Texas — have issued nearly identical, urgent warnings about the trajectory of the coronavirus outbreak in their state. If the virus isn't brought under control, hospitals will be overwhelmed within two weeks, they said. Texas is experiencing one of the worst resurgences of COVID-19 in the US, with a 30% increase in cases last week. The state has seen more than 200,000 cases in total. (Business Insider)
