Protest Songs

I was a young man of the 60’s. I always thought when there was turmoil, and the testing of the American resolve, protest was a necessary accessory for a truly democratic nation. During the 60’s, we were lucky enough to find the voices/talents/and will for positive change via singer/songwriters. I am an older man in the midst of the 21st Century, and the world, let alone MY country is suffering from the lack of truth/honesty/conviction. Where are the PROTEST SONGS, the songs to encourage a fair, equal and just WAY forward. So with my author’s license, (if such a thing exists for me) I have borrowed the music from Neil Young and Buffalo Springfield to sing my protest song. I am not a lyricist, so perhaps if you know the melodies, try your best with my words. No one should remain SILENT!

Steve Bannon and Trump are coming, Jeff Sessions is on his way, I hear the Racists calling, this moment its so appalling, dem-o-cracy has died today!
Got to get down to it, Republicans cutting us out. Should, have stopped it long ago. When it becomes YOU, your freedoms dead on the ground. Hard to avoid when you know.
Na, Na, Na, Putins winning, Na, Na, Na and Trumps his chump, Na, Na, Na, Bannon’s scheming, upon this nation they take a dump. (sung to ‘Ohio’, by, Neil Young)

There’s something happening here, for most of us we’re exactly clear. There’s a liar, screaming BEWARE. His prose is smothered only with fear.
It know its time we stop, people, be-fore we drown, we all know whats going down.

Trump’s battle lines have all been drawn. Insisting he’s right, demanding we’re always wrong. People trying to speak their minds, getting such resistance, from a Party line.
Its time, we stop , people or evil wins , we all know about HIS sins.

What a field day for the creeps. Need thousands of people in the streets.
Shouting resist and resign, giving us momentum, now’s our time.
Xenophobia strikes deeps, into your, minds it will seep. You step out of line Trump will take you away. Dem-o-cracy will pay.

Stop, people, take a stand, stop people, its our land, stop people make a choice, stop people raise your voice. (sung to “For What It’s Worth”, Buffalo Springfield)
