There is a void, a vast, voluminous emptiness which has begun to smother this nation, and its power is so intense that most Americans can hardly breathe. Truth no longer has value, honesty a sign a weakness permitting the most insecure of people to become the new Zombie and infect those of us hoping for at least a bit of humanity and humility to survive.
Be it the Orphaned children, the caged children…the 800,000 plus Federal employees out of work, running out of money, the silos of food not only rotting but the ruination of family farms…Be it the Talking Heads of the Right Wing, whose lives are NOT at all impacted by the freedoms and equality they so desire to remove from the rest of this nation…the wealthy donor class, who own politicians as Southerner’s once owned slaves…or be it the Covington Catholic Boys, all smug and stupid offending, and trying to intimidate a native American…it seems, just like, the days when Germans wore a swastika on their arm, or the bigots were draped in their white hood and robes, or the White Nationalists decorate themselves and almost everything they own in the symbols of the Confederacy…the MAGA hat has become as lethal a weapon of hate as any gun or assault rifle.
We listen as the Laura Ingraham’s the Rush Limbaugh’s the Sean Hannity’s the Ann Coulter’s of the world brag that they and only they understand what America wants and needs, and because the man, compromised and most likely a Russian ASSET sits in the White House, listen to their beckon calls, they can and do permit the worst kinds of bigotry and hatred to thrive in this nation.
There are not two sides to the GOVERNMENT SHUTDOWN, to argue that fact, in my esteem is to spit into the wind, and wonder why your face just got wet. People are hurting, and have been hurting, even before Trump, but EVEN more and EVEN worse since he was hacked into office…I DON’T want to hear one more moronic flip flop from Rudy, I can’t stand when anyone on Cable News says the Dems should compromise, when all Comrade Mitch CAN do is OVER-RIDE what he fears might be a Trump veto. Each day, for me, grows scarier and morbid…This is my country, this is the country for my children…this is the country whose Vets have died for while trying to salvage any vestige of democracy…I just can’t look the other way…
A wise-ass kid, wearing a MAGA hat stands in front of a Native American, trying his best to BEST the Native American…there are Good Nazi’s…the Vice President’s wife works for a school that discriminates against the LGBTQ community…Trump threatens publicly the family of Michael Cohen…The GOP Senate have relinquished their responsibility of checks and balances…chaos will soon erupt…This is all so much, all too much…
Once while playing Gin Rummy with my Grandma Braff (who I think cheated at times), she said, as she reapplied her red lipstick to her lips, dabbing a little on her cheeks (she said no matter where a woman should always look good)…my Grandma Braff, placing her lipstick on the table, and her cards facing down on her lap…some people think to worry is a waste of time, they believe that not acknowledging the present will make the future come that much sooner…but Gerry, that is foolish. She then paused leaned to me and continued, if you do not make today worthwhile then there is little use for tomorrow. She then took her Kleenex tissue dabbed her lips, picked up her cards and said GIN!
