who are these people

Lloyd Blankfein, CEO of Goldman-Sachs and his bevy of CEO’ buds have a problem with American workers.
Blankfein's Goldman Sachs got billions from the federal government during the Wall Street bailouts, enabling him to hold a job that paid him $16.1 million in 2011, and now he wants the rest of us to take a pay cut -- now and in the future. Referring to Social Security, he told CBS "You're going to have to do something, undoubtedly, to lower people's expectations of what they're going to get." That's a second-rate vision for a first world country, and we just voted for a lot better than that. (Ethan Rome, E.D. Health Care for America Now)
Lower expectations are the resolution for this very, very wealthy CEO to solve the problems of debt in this nation. The man who received corporate handouts in the millions feels that too many others are too needy and certainly undeserving of any government support and should indeed lower their expectations to do something as simple as live their life as they grow older. Mr. Blankfein pampered and primal in his love for his fellow Americans is also a spoiled rich guy who has no idea of the needs, desires and functions of he real world. He dares to to kick his well healed heels up and down telling the rest of the non millionaire world lower those expectations cause i don’t want to increase the amount of taxes me or my corporation pay.
Blankfein is one of many Fortune 500 CEOs who joined together under the name "Fix the Debt" a campaign to cut Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid to address the federal deficit during the fiscal showdown. This group of more than 90 CEOs is pushing cuts to middle-class programs while shielding millionaires, billionaires and big corporations from tax increases. (Ethan Rome, E.D. Health Care for America Now).
Cuts to middle class programs, the kind that help feed, shelter, educate and keep healthy the middle class American population need to be cut back, some eliminated forgotten so say these individuals whose taxable contribution to this nations revenues are either nil or void. And arrogantly these men/women pooh-pooh anything  that may raise the standard of living for anyone but themselves.
We are told we may fall off the fiscal cliff, but in reality not all of US will fall to the bottom bloody and bruised. Nope, people like Mr. Blankfein and his CEO cronies will hire someone else to fall off the cliff or will have purchased  golden parachutes to keep them afloat while the rest of us careen to our death. Who are these people?

day by day

When my sister and I were very young, my Aunt Meercy, would take us to the museum in Pittsburgh. The Carnegie Museum in Pittsburgh back in the day was a combo history museum with dinosaurs and artifacts from the early days of Pennsylvania as well as a location for fine and contemporary art. Our first journeys to the museum were more like work then pleasure as Aunt Meercy insisted that we actually stop at each exhibit, study it and discuss what we just viewed. Aunt Meercy insisted that we should never ignore the moment, but enjoy the opportunity as it happened. Aunt Meercy urged my sister and I to participate in the here and now. She would add, dreams can only exist from reality. We can never find the future unless we understand why we are in the present. She would also add, the next thing can be exciting, but if you have nothing to compare it to just how exciting can it be? My little sister were too young to understand her philosophy on the here and now, but my Aunt’s actions were learning tools for the two of us to begin the process of appreciating the moment and the importance of being. The here and now, the enjoyment of the moment lessons in life that still resonate with richness and rewards.
Here it is Black Friday, which started on Thanksgiving Thursday for some at 8 pm for some at 9 pm for others at midnight. We were cautioned to warm up, get ready, eat quickly , forget the family get out stand in line and buy baby buy! The moment of celebrating the Thanksgiving Holiday, was not as important as anticipating the Christmas season and of course leaving your family and their holiday traditions behind and buy baby buy. Wal-Mart, Target, K-Mart, Toys-R-Us employees work comes before family gatherings. Crazed Americans eager to celebrate the Christmas season, not in the celebration of the birth of Christ but in the worship of materialism, let your family share the Thanksgiving meal without you. Look forward, straight ahead, don’t delay, Thanksgiving is just a roadblock an irritant for the Christmas season. But don’t be so comfortable with Christmas Day either, cause the sales on December 26 will blow your minds. Who knows but the sales may start at 8pm/9pm on the eve of Christmas Day.
When did we stop to take the time to appreciate the moment, the meaning of the holiday? When did our memories become less important then the shopping, the time away, the urgency to buy baby buy?
I don’t get it, just don’t understand it, why can’t we, like Aunt Meercy told us to do, stop look at life in front of us and grasp its meaning? Why is the next thing the best thing and the current thing just not important enough to recognize or respect?  Life lived one day at a time seems to be a life appreciated, seems to me many of us just don’t care! Happy Black Friday.

dear john

Senator Mc Cain,
What has happened to you? You came back from a hard fought war as a hero. You demonstrated the ability to endure to survive, to find principle and stick to it. Your nation welcomed you back and we thought we had a man with conscience when you returned; someone who had morals, values and scruples.
Then you ran for president, an office whose heartbeat could lead this nation, but decided to select Sarah Palin as your running mate lacking any serious vetting process, the person who could be one heart beat away from the Oval Office. Your concern for the welfare of the US disappeared and was replaced with a selfish desire to further your own career. You selected a woman with lack of knowledge, biased, ignorant of the history of this nation a person who would rather divide then unite. Your love of country was less then your desire to win.
Senator McCain you lost the election. A better man beat you, a man more Americans decided should run this nation. You became a belligerent, bitter loser, a man who would rather lash out then join in. Even as the newly elected president reached out to you, you tried your best to diminish his victory. You threw a tantrum acting as if the people really wanted a McCain/Palin ticket and snubbed any outreach from the president.
Senator McCain you never cease to make an ass out of yourself. You seem to have this penchant to make yourself a laughing stock. Your run for the senate of Arizona found you flip/flopping on issues you initiated. Where once you were pro on an issue you were con. Where you prided yourself in being maverick, you were on the attack. You refused to to permit your history on issues be relevant, and you happily invited divide into your own homestead.
Now, again your ‘sour grapes’, your poor loser, your inability to find a conscience is shining through and you are kicking and screaming about President Obama and the incident with our embassy staff in Benghazi. You are ranting and raving, throwing out here-say, innuendo and sound bytes to make it seem President Obama is that Kenyan Socialist your party has deemed him to be. You ask for more information, but prefer to speak to the media and miss a major closed door meeting to answer your questions. You select Susan Rice to be the scapegoat for your inability to recognize your election loss to the president. And you display your powers of hypocrisy by defending the horrible misuse of information of Condoleezza Rice, but insist that Susan Rice is a leader of some anti-American cabal. Condi Rice was part of a plan by the Republicans (your party Senator McCain) to lie to the people, and Ambassador Rice preferred he remarks by stating this is what she knew at that moment.
Senator McCain, your service to this country heralded great admiration, your current behavior only warrants admonishment of all you say. You are an angry man who normally would be left alone to pout in his own preconceived misery. But you are a Senator of the US, and your actions have grave percussions for far too many people. Go away Senator McCain, lick your wounds, sulk, bitch and moan about not being the president and just go away. You add nothing but dismal dissent to a nation trying so hard o find consensus.
Let us hold on to the hero you once were, and don’t leave us with the jerk you have become.

The scary thing so it seems is that even though the GOP, FOX News and the other under the rock critters like Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity made up the facts regarding truth and honest, they have also fallen for their own charades forgetting real from fiction. We are told that liars sometimes get so caught up in the machinations of lies they forgo reality for the reality they invented. These anti-American idiots polling numbers were invented, their state-by-state organizations falsified statistics, and their account of who would vote was actually skewed not by the people voting but the misunderstanding of who either who would not vote or be restricted to vote. In other words the best laid plans by the GOP operatives were never attached to anything but a pipe dream. Their constant harangue about voting against the president did nothing to get out the vote for their candidate.

So now we have chicken littles running around as if the sky was falling, and it was they who actually told us the sky would fall. But of course when the GOP talking heads predicted the sky would fall, it was presumed the sky would only fall on the Democrats/Progressive's heads.

Most liars will never admit to their lies. They assume that if a lie is large enough room to hide will be easy for them and weaseling out of admitting the truth will come just as easy. And so when found out to be lying, another lie is hatched in its place. It wasn't us it was you. It wasn't our fault it was you offensive behavior to our lie. We had to lie to keep you from acting like the bully in the first place.  On and on the excuses will mount until the pile of BS gets so large those standing on tip will surely fall.

Holding on to the lie, Sean Hannity still uses words like Kenyan, Muslim to pronounce President Obama not a victor in the election but a fake. Donald trump still utters nonsense of birth certificates to trump the victory of President Obama. Karl Rove with his sinister synopsis of the post election events swears it was Hurricane Sandy that did he and his billionaire puppet masters in. And Pat Robertson announces from his place at the gates of hell that the Gay agenda was the sole reason for defeating Romney.

As scary as is the lying pundents and politicos of the Republican/Tea Party is the millions of Americans who through their own lack of intelligence, bigotry, greed, gluttony, bias, religious zealotry, still believe in fiction as fact. The mere idea that baloney is still being served as the main course for millions of Americans by religious leaders who place Bible over Constitution/far right wing entertainers who place
Ideology over integrity is a frightening thought. Until 'we vs they' is replaced with us, all we will hear is that the sky is falling. The Republican leadership found a friend in fiction. They caressed, cuddled, cared for it. They nurtured it hoping that fiction could eventually be found as fact. And the fact is that even to tis moment, those who speak louder for the Republican/Tea Party still embrace the lies they hatched. All of America will never heal while this cancer still lives.

young adult

Suddenly it dawns on you your children have become young adults. Not only young adults but smart, mature, caring and sensitive adults. You can remember the first day of school, the removal of training wheels from the bicycle, the soccer games, their first kiss filled with wonder and awe, and the the time teen age meant trauma, torment and torture. All of those years traveling slower than a snail at rest, now so far behind you leaving you with a your child as a young adult. Suddenly all of the past has led to your child as a young adult.

When I traveled to Pittsburgh last week, I was a guest in my daughters apartment. Dani expected me to spend the three nights of my visit staying at her place. This was my first time having the opportunity to spend the night at her place and witness my  daughter in her own home. My little girl, set up her household, established her routines, recognized her responsibilities and right in front of my eyes for four days and three nights I experienced all of it.

When did this happen, I wondered? When did my baby turn into a young woman? Where have I been when all of these maturity, maturation, milestones meandered into her life? I knew I was getting older but never realized that the movement of time affecting me was indeed finding its path to Dani’s doorsteps?

I turned 63 on October 21 and for some reason,(I have tried to contemplate and consider all the variables)I have become aware of time; however, time as it relates to me. I have great communications with my kids speaking with them very often, so the news of their lives was never a surprise. But somehow while mulling over my own machinations I never realized how time has affected my kids. Time caught up with me as we stood in her kitchen preparing dinner, sat at her table enjoying our dinner, lounged on her sofa, watching zombie movies on her television, riding in her car discussing things from politics to purpose, gossip to goals. We did all this as father to daughter, adult to adult.

I amaze at how even when something is right in front of you, smack dab in the face it is hardly noticed until you walk right in front of it. I am blessed to be a parent, some blessings I am aware of, but so many more I find and never realized existed. My trip to Pittsburgh to celebrate the wondrous 85 years of life of my aunt provided me with gifts. Suddenly, out of the blue so it seems my daughter Dani is this young adult. Life can be so full of mystery and beauty.

home again

1618A Denniston had been my home for 20 years. Six Buncher’s lived in that three bedroom one bathroom house and somehow we managed to cope, get ready for school and survive without killing anyone. Denniston Avenue was filled with neighbors who for the most part added zest and character to my life. Denniston provided adventure, angst, enjoyment, excitement hope and purpose. Denniston was my core, the relativity of all that made sense, the place that when defined was home. We shoveled feet of snow from our sidewalks, had over twenty people sit around our dining room table for holiday festivals, morned the death of those we called friends and family, sat in the dark as our house turned into a spooky abode during thunderstorms. It was a place where we viewed a double dose of chiller theater cuddled for safety under a homemade afghan. It was a venue for truth, emotion, admittance of both strength and weakness. Denniston then became a place my parents greeted their grandchildren. A place where stories from the past became news and joy for the next generation of Bunchers.

One by one as is the case when the days turn into months and the months into years, we journeyed further away from Denniston until my mother was left as the only inhabitant. We grew older, and the moments of now became the priority, and the memories of then still around but fleeting and far between. 1618A Denniston became run down, a shell of what it once was and more of a burden then boom. Finally the next phase of purpose found its way into our lives and my Mother, with great reluctance moved and the house was sold. We helped her pack, picking through the last remnants of remembrance and said goodbye. 1618A Denniston the only place I had called home for the first 20 years of my life finally had the umbilical cord cut.

Last week, while traveling to Pittsburgh for my Aunt’ 95th birthday my daughter provided me with an amazing surprise. Dani, introduced my sister Francie and I to the current owners of 1618A Denniston and they invited us to walk through their home. It had been almost 15 years since I last stepped foot inside 1618A, and now I was able to step inside and grab a bunch of memories that ha been stored away in some undisclosed file. Francie and I walked slowly visiting each room, carefully touching the walls, inhaling the aromas, closing our eyes and opening up our memory bank. The house was so different yet so much the same. It was new yet retained the old, the stuff that words cannot describe but still have meaning.

The tour took no ore then 10 minutes but the journey to our past seemed endless. Flashes of youth, visions of family, moments of love, longing lingered caressed our souls inviting us to remember and telling us to never forget. I came to Pittsburgh to celebrate my Aunt’s 95th birthday amazed at how much time had passed in my life to find my Aunt so old. I knew it would be a moment filled with joy as well as contemplation. Where had the time gone and how did it travel by so fast? There I was standing in the living room of the house that was so important to my being, and there I was wondering how did all of that past seem so long ago.

The old adage states you can never go home again. Not sure I can accept that any longer. I did go home and in doing so, I learned that the travel back can stir visions of the future. Had it not been for 1618A Denniston parts of who I am today would have never emerged, and that would have left me a whole different kind of person I am today.

taliban

One of the reasons we felt it was necessary to go to war in Afghanistan was the inhuman treatment of women by the Taliban; a treatment grounded in the interpretation of their religion that women were not equal to men. The men of the Taliban espoused the teachings of their Bible and in parsing the phrases and chapters translated the word of the God they worshiped to state women were  unable to think for themselves. Women, the Taliban insisted needed guidance from men. There was a place and reason for a woman but none of that was to be their husbands/fathers/brothers equal. Americans were furious that such inequality could be conceived let alone enforced. Many members of this nation practicing Christianity were certain that had the Taliban not been Muslim worshipping a heathen for a God, the respect for women would be a whole lot better. The Quran we were told by these New Testament Christians was the at the root of evil for denying women their rightful place in the sun. Had those Muslims been practicing Christianity instead of Islam the US would have little reason to send our Troops to this God forsaken nation. But as is often the case hypocrisy of religion triumphs and the fact that my God is better than your God reigns and reason disappears. Women of America (for the Republicans claiming to be Christian before anything else) need direction and guidance from men. Women are created from Adam’s rib as is stated in Genesis and must be led like lemmings. Paul Ryan is a co-sponsor of the Personhood Amendment providing an embryo with 14th Amendment rights. Paul Ryan co-sponsored a bill with Todd Akin defining rape as anything but a criminal act dividing it into legitimate rape or just a means to get an abortion. Richard Mourdoch has spoken to God and God told him women who get raped should be content because God just gave them lemons and now they make their baby into lemonade. Mitt Romney will cut funding to Planned Parenthood and he still has to contemplate the Lilly Ledbetter Act requiring equal pay for equal work. All of these men are Christian, each of these men are fervent anti Taliban crusaders saying that state run religion is a dangerous thing, that is if that state run religion is Islam. How come when we have Taliban fighters in this nation who pray to Jesus their restrictions on women’s rights is not too worry about?  When these MEN are deciders of women’s rights and deniers of women’s equality and espouse the New Testament this nations core values are not harmed or hindered? So, you are a female, or a lover of women or a brother or a father or a husband or a son and still voting Romney/Ryan/Republican? 2012 could be the year of the Christian Taliban coming to America!

demon seed

If we have learned anything from horror movies it is that when a demon enters your life it can manifest into a plethora of personalities. Many times it starts out as something similar, something sweet so we can trust it thinking nothing bad is happening here. Then when the demon has settled into our souls it begins to be more pushy, more in command. And before we know it the demon has manifested into something evil, something that no longer lets us recognize the bodies of the people it has possessed.
At last nights debate an entity calling himself Mitt Romney appeared it seemed similar to the Mitt we knew but then became unrecognizable. This demon was canny using the sweet mothers voice as in did in the movie the Exorcist you know the disembodied voice that said “Dami, Dami, I am you mother.” It lulled Damien the Priest to come closer to lean in to trust. And as the priest bought the malarkey splurging out from the demon Damien almost lost his life and his freedoms. We have seen in the most horrible of cinema how cunning, how tempting, how easily trust is achieved and how much quicker it is betrayed. Th victim is lied to, promised to then possessed and left without a choice of chance. Once again Mitt Romney showed up as someone else he  had once been before, before he felt it was not necessary to be that way in the first place. Wham bam out of the blue he changed positions on a myriad of issues and without a slight demonstration of conscience, morals or honor looked at America and said I have always been this way. Once again, Mitt Romney pandered and patronized not demonstrating backbone or strength but promoting self serving weakness. Mitt Romney cares less about this nation and most of the people living in it. He will say or do or promise or lie about any topic any time just to advance HIS agenda, his life his fame. Like a demon he has convinced the poor souls who think that their own life sucks and by inviting the demon in to their life that life will get better. Romney will cajole, connive, create conflict and chaos and fool the shit from the foolish. With Mr Romney what you see is not what you get, because like a demon you really never the creature until it has ruined your life and it is too late to reclaim it.

my civil rights

Mitt Romney wants you to know that allowing same-sex couples to visit each other in the hospital is a benefit — not a civil right — and he will let states take away that “benefit” if they want to. Two years ago, President Obama mandated that all hospitals treat same-sex couples the same way they treat heterosexual couples, including visitation rights. (That’s also included, separately, in Obamacare.)(Huff Post). Loving your partner is a benefit if you are GAY. Caring for your partner is a benefit if you are GAY. A benefit one must earn or beg the state legislature to provide for you, according to Mitt Romney. This election is about MY civil rights it IS about a bevy of bogus bias based on nothing else but ignorance laced with religious bigotry. Who are you Mr Romney or your henchmen and women to consider my visitation, care, concern as benefits? If being a member of the Latter Day Saints has prejudiced your moral character then you have no right to be the president of this nation? If catering to the self victimizing lunatics who who only learned how to hate from their families or  churches has capsulized your opinion then you are as ignorant of the Constitution as the flunkies who use it to wipe their asses. Also on the table for Mitt, filed under “states rights” and not civil rights, is adoption of children by same-sex couples, and, presumably, single gay people.(Huff Post) Amazing, Mitt how you state your religious values guide you and how proud you are of your work in the church. What does your church say about the thousands of abandoned kids left in abuse, poverty, without love by heterosexual couples? What does your church say about the heterosexual parents who have little use for their offspring, who don’t want that awful burden of raising them? Does you church insist these kids live in foster care, that they rot on vine because they just didn’t ripen good enough. You are a callous man Mr. Romney to think that love is not shared by all adults and that love can also be abused by all adults. A man of honor would look at the qualities of the individual Mr. Romney, but then you have NOT demonstrated any honor from the day you announced you candidacy. You are an advocate of states rights Mitt, you brag about it. States rights instead of civil rights caused the states of the South to secede from the Union because some states thought slavery was cool. States rights instead of civil rights permitted some states to provide separate drinking fountains, segregated schools and riding in the back of the bus. States rights instead of civil rights allowed certain neighborhoods to post signs saying NO JEWS, CATHOLICS, NEGROS or DOGS. This election IS ABOUT my rights as a man who is constantly reminded by homophobes like Mitt Romney that being Gay is nit equal. That being Gay does not make you a real American. And if you support Romney/Ryan you must agree. It is a sad statement that MY Civil rights don’t count by Romney/Ryan and the anyone who casts a ballot for them.

war ann, war

Mitt Romney spent the Vietnam War driving about the French countryside and his sons won’t be serving in the wars he wants to start/continue because they are serving him, which is the same thing as serving our country according to Mitt Romney. Ann Romney thinks that sending her sons off to serve “their mission” is the same thing as sending your sons and daughters off to Iraq or Afghanistan. She sent them away as boys and they came back as men. War is sometimes necessary or sometimes a result looking for a cause. History has proven that the might of men can be justified but the mission of men without reason or rhyme results in endless chaos resolving very little but ego. I have never fought in a war. I don’t know the first hand accounts of doing so, but being 62 years old have either studied, viewed from the safety of television, or spoken to veterans about the affects of war. I am afraid of war, learned that during the Cuban Missile Crisis and the treatment of Viet Nam Vets. I see the ravishes of war from the faces of the Troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with physical, mental and emotional scars. I see the punishment of war on the empty faces of mothers/fathers/wives/husbands who are handed an American flag and a coffin. A nation, we are told must at times exert force on another group of people to keep humanity safe we are told. Left unchecked the evil of a few men and women may ruin the lives of many. I understand all of that and because of that understanding realize that as desirous fighting a war may be it is ten times as dangerous. Ann Romney was on the “View” Whoopi Goldberg: What I read about your husband, what I read, and maybe you can correct this, is that the reason that he didn’t serve in Vietnam was because it was against the religion. Ann Romney: He was serving his mission. (Explaining that none of her sons have served in the military) My five sons have also served (on) missions. We find different ways of serving… I sent them away boys and they came back men. Mr Romney and Ryan backed by a majority of Neo-Cons who had served in the Bush/Cheney administration have spoken about war as if it is a necessity not worthy of a debate or conversation. Both men bathe in the red, white, blue of the flag and pronounce that the greatness of America is our ability to wage war and win. Neither man has served in a war and neither men come from families where mother or dad has enlisted. Mr. Romney considers his sons going to battle for the (Romney’s) presidential aspirations similar to serving this country on the front line. Mrs Romney thinks sending her sons to Europe to proselytize is similar to  facing the Taliban or Al Qaida.  There is a major disconnect, a major one! There is also an arrogance and ignorance. It IS NOT just about the economy, it is abiut life and we all lives it healthy safely and equally!

record straight

Just to set the record straight...
God does not hate FAGS, he despises those who call them that.
Self proclaimed Religious and Capitalists sometimes worship a vengeful and false God.
When the President Obama acts more like an uppity black man he kicks your bigoted ass.
The President does care about Israel but would prefer to use all of his collateral in words first then the lives of Americans to prove it.
Patronizing and Pandering are par for the course of a man with weak character and a waning conscience.
Mr. Romney you are right people just don’t die in their apartments, they die in their homes, on the streets in back alleys because wherever they live they still don’t have adequate health insurance.
Just to set the record straight...
Who exactly will you be protecting when you decide to spend billions on Defense while deducting millions on the line items like food, shelter and health care?
Mr. Ryan, washing dishes after they have been cleaned and those who fed off of them have eaten only makes you a condescending cocky son of a bitch and not a caring Catholic.
Todd Akin is still the same religious bigot, anti feminist, ignorant fool he was when he stated there is such a thing as legitimate rape, so how come people like Karl Rove and the Koch Brothers are once again supporting him?
It is difficult to debate a liar because all he does is recite the same fiction and folly never once admitting he is anything but real.
Just to set the record straight...
It took 8 years for a Republican President and Congress to deepen the debt, widen the divide between the have and nots, ignore any restrictions for the Finance and banking Industry and four years for a Democrat President to begin to turn it around.
Backing a candidate but doing it anonymously is being a coward. Off shore accounts are a shady practice if you want to be the president of the United States. Using your religious practice to proselytize as an excuse for you not to fight a war you deemed as the right war to fight is bogus. Stating you are proud of your record but never letting anyone else ask you about it is arrogant.
Just for the record...
If you believe in your policies share them and with a backbone and clear conscience say so, don’t tell us we have to wait and see.
If you just discovered at the age of 57 when you were governor that there ae qualified women in the US, what the hell were you doing before that. And speaking of before that while at Bain you hadn’t discovered talented and educated women.
If you are a female and still consider Mitt the man I suppose you care less about your elf esteem then the hatred for the President.
If you are a member of the LGBT community and find Romney/Ryan resonate for you, then I suppose the equity in your savings account means a whole lot more then the equality of your life.
If you are a member of the Jewish Community and have bought into the Hussein part of Obama or that the president hates Israel then you have fallen into the propaganda of Evangelicals only care about the existence of the Jewish State so the damn Rapture can begin already.
If you watch FOX news then you have no idea that others don’t hate, scapegoat, bully, that the Constitution is not the same thing as the Bible, and that democracy IS about fair and equal.
Just to set the record...
There is a major choice between Obama/Biden and Romney/Ryan and if you don’t choose correctly we will revert to the years of Bush/Cheney tens time worse.

social what

Here we go, the Republicans say a word define it with their skewed dictionary of bias and bogus and suddenly the word is a BAD word. Socialism, socialists, so we are told are the ugly side of humanity. These two words create a world of evil; a place that denies freedoms and personal choice. Run, run fast when you see a socialist flee, flee far from a nation that promotes socialism. Our forefathers would be turning over in their graves if they had any indication that words like socialism and socialist were being muttered in this nation of ours.
But then, the Great Depression happened upon our shores and Americans were starving. homeless, destitute and the Government felt an obligation to take care of “its tired and its poor.” The government wanted to assist its citizens in finding their “pursuit of happiness.” So the government created jobs, opportunities for people to become employed earn a wage feed their families and find shelter. The government looked closely at its elderly those who worked so hard in their youth. Now they were slowing down and the government thought, these people helped make America great we must do something in return and give back that greatness. Social security was created a means by which getting old, getting sick did not lead to despair, dread or doom or death but instead provided the means to live a filler life. The government became a bit socialistic in its philosophy in response to the needs of its citizenry. And democracy did not die it thrived.
Like so many hypocrites those who want to pinpoint their own bigotry will highlight some of the words in the Bible and ignore the rest. Homosexuality is a sin according to Christians who base this phobia on Leviticus. But somehow all the other passages of sin stemming from Leviticus like only marrying a virgin to not getting tattoos eating shell fish are never mentioned. Socialism is bad we are told because the government wants to impose its own standard of morals and values. But then socialism is OKAY when these same zealots wish to have the government impose their standards relating to women’s reproductive rights, same-sex marriage.
Until the Affordable Care Act became law little was done by the free market to assure a majority of Americans access to health care other then a rip to the Emergency Room or to make a priority as to paying for food, shelter or health. All Americans having the same opportunity to live a healthy life became a hue and cry for that terrible demon of destruction SOCIALISM. Suddenly death panels loomed large, bureaucrats bullying you into what kind of health care is best, elected officials sitting in your doctors office all of this would happen we were warned because SOCIALISTS are handling your health insurance. And as the free market ran rampant in handling our health insurance we had pre-conditions, high premiums, lack of coverage, too expensive to operate, and no health coverage whatsoever.
Like lemmings afraid of their own shadow, some will not take the initiative to investigate their road ahead. They will follow the fool in front of them afraid to read a map and perhaps not fall off the cliff a mile ahead. They will not question for fear that those who say they are closer to God or the Constitution, or Thomas Jefferson, George Washington will call upon those higher powers and deny the lemming  access to to prosperity. They will let others use the word socialism, socialist as BAD words and have no idea how pieces of both words will benefit all Americans.
The Republican leadership has done a good, good job on keeping the dumb dumber, the fearful more afraid and the ignorant unaware.
Such a shame that the road the lemming chooses is off a cliff when with one smart question, one smarter answer the road ahead leads to a rainbow.

who is this man

We’ve given people all they need to know.” Ann Romney wife of Mitt Romney and potential First Lady. As if the American public should be restricted in any knowledge about the people running for the office of president. When has the truth been so hard to be told. Maybe when the facts behind the truth are so wobbly and rank that once the truth is told that foundation will crumble. We're not going let our campaign be dictated by fact-checkers,” Neil Newhouse, the Romney campaign's pollster. Facts that don’t count, truth that is irrelevant, honesty as a pain in the ass, is that who want to be president? In a country run by dictators facts were a fancy of the informed, in a nation where facts mean nothing it becomes the folly of the fool.“We want to get it done”, Paul Ryan Romney’s VP nominee, the response to why neither he or Romney have mentioned any details about their proposed tax loopholes. Once again the real reasons, the actual policies, the news Americans need to know will not be spoken until, it is perhaps too late once the men have obtained the power. If the real seems too uncomfortable, and you still want to squeeze into the pants without losing the fat all that will happen is that the pants will rip apart.”Voter fraud is rampant in urban areas”, Gary Bauer, President, American Values. Code words are so essential when you are really worried about being called a racist, hater, bigot. Voter fraud has not existed in this nation but the accusation in innuendo that it might or could and only because of the minorities is one way to win an election anything but democratic. Find the scapegoat, scare the ignorant and prove your point without ever having to prove a point.  The overwhelming majority of voters who back President Barack Obama do so because they are "dependent on government" and "believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing...I don’t care about their vote.” Mitt Romney, presidential nominee. According to Mr. Romney 47% of Americans are lazy, useless and losers. They are poor because of their own doing, they are uneducated because they are dumb, they are unemployed because they lack any motivation to earn their own way. Mitt does not want to be their president, this group of people won’t understand the value of tax cuts for the very rich, because hey envy the wealthy.  All of these people are surrogates for Mitt Romney they cannot share ideas or ideals unless he in fact agrees. Mitt Romney, speaking for himself has stated his lack of concern for the American people.  And this is the man some still want to elect as president. Why? What is it about hate, disdain, distrust, animosity, divide exclusion excites you to elect a man like Romney to lead this nation?

respect...yourself

If you disrespect anybody
That you run in to
How in the world do you think
Anybody's s'posed to respect you(“Respect Yourself”, Staple Singers)
First it was Bachmann, then it was Perry, then it was, Gingrich, then it was Santorum, and now it is Obama, seems Mitt loves to disrespect anyone who gets in his way, not by saying how good Mitt can be or is but how bad the other guy was,and is.

If you don't give a heck 'bout the man
With the Bible in his hand
Just get out the way
And let the gentleman do his thing(“Respect Yourself”, Staple Singers)
You say you are a religious man, a devout man, a man of God, yet you enjoy deceiving, using lies as truth, saying Gods name but living to his will to help the poor, the elderly, the downtrodden. Mitt, your actions make me wonder if being a Mormon is more about being selfish then selfless.

You the kind of gentleman
That want everything your way
Take the sheet off your face, boy
It's a brand new day(“Respect Yourself”, Staple Singers)
You want to brag about Bain as long as we don’t mention everything you did there like sending jobs off shore, firing people, closing plants. You say you are ready to discuss the hard questions, but any question about your taxes is too hard answer.

Respect yourself, respect yourself
If you don't respect yourself
Ain't nobody gonna give a good cahoot, na na na na
Respect yourself, respect yourself(“Respect Yourself”, Staple Singers)
You belittle people needing food stamps as welfare queens, the unemployed as lazy and you had no idea Gays have a family. Mitt, you cater to the ‘birthers’, the bigoted and the bogus. You disregard minorities and the rights of women to make a choice for their reproductive rights.

If you're walking 'round
Think'n that the world
Owes you something
'Cause you're here(“RespectYourself”, Staple Singers)
Mitt you want to be president of this country because of all things you and Ann declared its your turn. You have little in announcing why you want be president, but constantly scream about why others should not be the president. We are supposed to trust, so you say, but things like facts and fact checkers are of no importance to you and your campaign.

You goin' out
The world backwards
Like you did
When you first come here(“Respect Yourself”, Staple Singers)
The use of negative ads, the misuse of facts, the innuendo, the lack of substance, all of this give the feel of a candidate being ass backwards. Your arrogance that the American public should have access to your life is frustrating. Mitt you are running for president and not the new monarchy.

Keep talkin' 'bout the president
Won't stop evolution
Put your hand on your mouth
When you cough, that'll help the solution(“Respect Yourself”, Staple Singers)
You hide behind your surrogates who accuse the president of being a socialist, a Muslim, a Kenyan. You pretend to have no idea about your negative ads. You seem to think you can govern this country not on your merits but on a made up negative record of the president. Mitt, this election should be about your qualities not your abilities to weasel out of stating anything that sounds like the truth.

Oh, you cuss around women
And you don't even know their names
And you dumb enough to think
That'll make you a big ol man (“Respect Yourself”, Staple Singers)
Your wife says she loves women but when it comes to questions of their equal pay for equal work, their abilities to decide the health of their bodies you cop out of granting the freedoms they deserve. You still have difficulty with the definition of rape and want to dismantle Planned Parenthood. Mitt women are not chattel.

Respect yourself, respect yourself
If you don't respect yourself
Ain't nobody gonna give a good cahoot, na na na na
Respect yourself, respect yourself
Respect yourself, respect yourself(“Respect Yourself”, Staple Singers)
I hear you are a good family man, a religious man, a businessman and yet your behavior in the public arena has demonstrated none of that. Your demeaning diatribes about Gays, Poor, Elderly, Immigrants, Muslims, Women demonstrate no respect for the people for whom you wish to be president. Your etch-a sketch never taking a stand, being for it before you are against then being for again is sick. Your attitude that your life is your business is bogus. Mitt as I see it and I hope and pray millions of Americans see it you will be a cohost on some stupid faux newscast on FOX. You can join the ranks of Mike Huckabee, and Sarah Palin two other politicians with no respect for the American people, and no respect for themselves!

not again

Here we go AGAIN, President Obama apologizes way too much. According to the moralist and man of values Romney, our presidents foreign policy plan is based on two words apology tour. Somehow, the world according to Romney, the puppet for puppet masters like Karl Rove, Rush Limbaugh and anything FOX, is trying out the adage, this Muslin/Kenyan is  not one of us, not an American, you know because he is black.

I am amazed that smart people still support Mitt Romney. Here is a man who has no use for fact checks, insists we should trust his decisions before electing him to office, and feels that his background as a CEO, Mormon, Entrepreneur, Governor and taxes paid or not paid are none of the business for most Americans. Here is a man who doesn’t say vote for me because I can do it, but vote for me because the other guy, well, the other guy “ain’t one of us”, you know white.

One more inexcusable speech from a man who ignores his past comments, refuses to admit any video or audio of past statements saying they are fake, and is proud as hell to flip/flop and etch a sketch hoping no one really noticed in the first place. And yet there are a large group of people voting for and supporting this man.

What is it that Barack Obama has not done, that electing Mitt Romney will make better? Is it that he (Obama) says LGBT’s are human... the elderly need a safety net... young adults brought to this nation as young children deserve a chance to become citizens... all Americans should have the right to affordable health care...we are choking the environment...women are smart enough to make their own reproductive choices??????

We had 8 years of Republican government and the rich got richer, but too many foundations supporting every one else began to collapse, wars were waged never budgeted for, housing market devastated, retirement funds emptied, unemployment rising at outrageous rates, division of wealth distribution, and more “we vs they” greater then the Civil War and the days of segregation.

And  Mitt, if elected wants us to return to those days when only a handful of individuals could boast about their successes, and a few have risen to the top of society while others sunk or are still sinking to the bottom. And PEOPLE are still in favor of this man becoming the next president of the United States. It makes no sense. What has President Obama done that is anti-US except to try to be inclusive for all of us.

And today, once again, Mitt Romney uses his code words stating that President Obama is not one of us. Well whatever Obama IS, I am exactly like him. This president speaks my language, speaks of my values, and speaks for me.

Good God

Pat Robertson Tells Man to Beat his Wife, Move to Saudi Arabia. Good ole Reverend Robertson joked and giggled that the laws in this land provide protection for spousal abuse. He then added that in some conditions, especially when the wife is a nag (and had’t read the scriptures where it says the husband is the boss and has the power) a little bit of abuse can go a long way. Robertson ended by saying the Muslims are bad people but when it comes to beating up your wife all good Christians can turn the other cheek. And then Pat (I am your direct communicator to God) Robertson asked his audience to pray and of course send in money.
Children with disabilities are God’s punishment to women who previously had abortions. VA Del, Bob Marshall. Va. Delegate Marshall is praying to a very vengeful God who will not only smote you but will also provide your kid with any myriads of disabilities. It seems not only is his God pro-life but will make that life difficult if you don’t toe the line. Mr. Marshall of course uses no science but prefers science fiction to make his inane and insane accusations. But because Mr. Marshall is a man who quotes the Bible while he is stumping too many small minded. religiously blind minions believe he is correct.

Mitt Romney suggested that President Obama has taken God out of his heart during a rally in Mansfield, Ohio on Monday, telling a crowd of manufacturing workers that unlike the current occupant of the White House, he will always be guided by the Almighty. I am not sure when I ever  heard the president say he has taken God out of his heart. In fact most of the presidents comments and action seem much more like something God would prefer (unlike Mr. Romney’s actions). God out of his heart, hmmm, saying poor people should have access to food, elderly to use social security until they pass, men loving men to wed, a woman the power to control her body, Americans access to affordable health care are not God like? As for me Mitt, my relationship with God is personal and the stronger I believe the more I care, share, concern, and have conscience in my interactions with the world around me the stronger God becomes. And Mr. Romney you may give a large percentage of your money to your church, but that is just money, how you act is the sign of a true believer!

Finally, I want to know who this GOD is that people like Pat Robertson, the Virginia Delegate, Bob Marshall and Mitt Romney pray to. I want to know the Bible they read and where it states hate first pray second. I want to understand how the GOD they are best buds with can be a purveyor of prejudice before he/she provides empowerment. I want to wrap my head around how a GOD these men worship is always voting Republican/Tea Party, on the side of bigots, racist and homophobes, and never worried about rights, freedoms and equality.

Good God!

together

Growing up on Denniston Avenue in Pittsburgh living in a row house, surrounded by four other rows of homes I thought that my universe started and ended at 1618A. There were large three story homes across the street, and albeit many of those families perhaps had more income then the row house families, but they were still a part of my universe. We all had to shovel the snow from our yards and parking spaces in the winter, sat either on our porches or front lawns in the summer, worried about falling branches and tree limbs in the spring, and raked the leaves from the sidewalk in the autumn trying to prevent spills and falls on the pavement.

When an American holiday happened, we all placed our flags on the front of our homes, assisting the older neighbors who just could not do it for themselves. When the snow was really deep the kids pitched in and made traversing on the pavement safer for all of the families. A power outage and we made sure the most frail of families to the most self reliant were safe and sound. It is what we did on Denniston.

Of course we had neighbors who were scary and mean, but this was Denniston and it was our universe, so each and all played a part in making it through the day.

I was raised by my mother and father telling me that I could do or be anything I wanted but along the way, I would need assistance from those around me. I could be a success but that success had some dependency on how I treated others and how others saw me. You could be alone if you wanted but loneliness was poison because it meant that you were brazen enough to think all you earned was done only by you. My parents aided me in realizing I am as good as those in my world.

And here we are in 2012 and the leadership of the Republican/Tea Party are sounding off that YOU and only YOU are what counts. Any assistance from others is a mere distraction. And in fact many who have less then you are either jealous of your success or want to tear it down. For men like Romney/Ryan and their cohort of supporters poor is bad and is the fault of the lazy. If you are successful, it is because you did it, and did it without the help of the loser who only wants to drain your blood.

I lived on Denniston Avenue almost fifty decades ago, but the spirit of community still lingers large in my heart and soul. The idea that others are unimportant or just a side bar is foreign to me. I had teachers who motivated me, I had neighbors who supported me, I had role models who guided me, I had friends who believed in me and I had family who loved me. I could not be the man I am NOW if it was not for EVERYONE else from my past.

Sorry Mitt and Paul, my America is one of inclusion, not exclusion.

found something

When our Founding Father’s created the Constitution they began a framework of ideas and ideals for a new nation. They tried hard to remove the restrictions of tyranny and torment delivered by an uncaring royalty. Our Founding Fathers realized that many of the laws created by the royals of Britain were more restrictive then resounding. They were set to limit the quality of life for the peasant, and prolong the quantities of life for the privileged.

Many of the amendments in the Constitution written at the time of our Founding Fathers were interpretations of the status quo of the day. They were treaties of the times illuminating the ebb and flow of the society of the day. Some had far reaching articles added with the understanding that the moment can change and a few moments from now may beg a slight bit different approach. The Constitution was a new document meant to to set a foundation, but the Founding Fathers realized how foundations can shift and change and some elasticity is essential to keep the foundation standing.

In decades since the Founding Fathers established this land of free and equal, society had discovered that free and equal was not benefiting all of the citizens of this great nation. And rational men and women like our Founding Fathers have found consensus in the fact that the “pursuit of happiness” can be pursued only if happiness is provided to the many and not the few. So women became more then chattel, minorities more then slaves, workers becoming valued assets, and so on and so forth. It was common knowledge that the Constitution was the parameter by which America survived but that foundation could expand and should expand when the lives of its citizenry become less then or not equal to.

And now we have a new brand of Republicans being led by anarchists calling themselves the Tea Party who love to exclude, eliminate and deny rights to the Constitution. They are at the ready to recall the rights and liberties thriving in the Constitution and replacing them with a version of Americana more like fascism and fanaticism then democracy. And this group of bigots/racists/ homophobes/sexists set about their redefinition of the Constitution insisting they are doing the continued work of the Founding Fathers. And the many who learn about current events from Fox News, science from their Evangelical preachers, exclusion from their biased families seem to think the denial of rights, freedoms and justice is how and why this nation of ours was created.

And the Republican/Tea Party seems to be enjoined by others who think the president is a Muslim, should not be the president because he is black, not going to defend Israel because he would first like to try a peaceful track, likes the poor by not providing the wealthy with even more tax breaks, hates America because he shows respect to the other nations of the world. We watch as the Romney/Ryan team want to tear down the rights in our Constitution and witness the Republican/Tea Party continue to lie about facts or hide the truths.

Our Founding Fathers did NOT create the Constitution so one day false prophets could redefine their values based on their own bias, bigotry and ignorance. And yet we are being sold a bill of goods based on bogus.

founding fathers

"I don't want anybody to persecute any religion including Islam, but we have a duty as Americans to understand that they intend to take us over and compel us to become Islamic,"  Lee Douglas says. (Huffington Post)
The Governor of Tennessee hired a staff person who among other things happens to be a Muslim. It seems that for those living in Tennessee no matter your birthright, if your religion does not fit into the parameters of anything Protestant, you “ain’t got no rights to work for the state of Tennessee, so says Lee Douglas, a dentist just south of Nashville and an anti-Shariah activist. He adds The First Amendment may provide the freedom to practice all religions, but, according to Douglas, the "government is showing a deference and is accommodating one single religion — Islam, Shariah," (Huffington Post).
Mr. Douglas is not a lone voice nor the only loony voice coming from Tennessee when it comes to racist rant. He has a grassroots organization infecting all of the counties in Tennessee. Mr. Douglas adds, deference should be shown to the religion of the country's Founding Fathers.(Huffington Post).
If we follow Mr. Douglas’s illogic thought process, one might wonder how the Jews in America get away following their religion as not a single Founding Father was Jewish. And one might wonder how the hell Mitt Romney could even run for president since there was not a Mormon listed as a Founding Father. If we pay close attention to Mr. Douglas and his gaggle of goons we would notice this man has NO IDEA what our Founding Fathers wanted to found in the first place.
This new brand of Republican/Tea Party person is crawling from the netherworld built on hate, misinformation fermented by fear and loathing. He has been given a boost by the urging of the success of the new Republican/Tea Party to go big on bigotry and bias. The new brand of Republican/Tea Party loser, bases all fact on the interpretation of their Bible assuming it trumps anything written in the US Constitution. And no one in the leadership role of the Republican/Tea Party seems to have found the balls or backbone to stop, immediately in their dirty tracks, this brand of hooligan from seeding more of their own madness.  “You ain’t like me”, so it seems so I don’t want you in my America!
For me, a word from Romney/Ryan and their band of boys and girls acting as surrogates should reply dramatically to the low life like Mr. Dennis and say, STOP, this is not the America we see the Republican/Tea Party living. We should hear corrections whenever racist, homophobic rhetoric is bandied about. Instead however we either get silence or the comment, this is a state rights issue and I do not want to infringe on their rights. Or we get innuendo and code from the candidates slyly saying the same thing but less obvious.
This incident from Tennessee  IS NOT a fluke. Nope it is all a part of the plan to scare, separate and seclude certain people from participating fairly and freely in American democracy.
When you vote Republican/Tea Party in November you empower a whole of people like Mr. Dennis. And if you find that okay then suddenly your conscience must have faded to nothing of importance at all.

labor day weekend

It was 7:58pm and the sun was on its way to the other side of the Earth. I heard the sound of the night critters begin at 8:02 pm. Talk of Bowl games moved from a whisper to loud chatter, the 2013 autos were being introduced and at my favorite farmers market the peach and apricot stands were replaced with apples, pears and other boring fruit of Autumn. Advertisement for the MDS telethon played, minus Jerry Lewis's name, and back to school sales were in full force. No matter what Mother Earth had to say, summer had exited, and fall was standing in front of the line. And before I realized it, Labor Day weekend was here.

As a child, it was a wonderful forever period of time from the last day of school to the last day of summer. Time meandered lazily allowing you to linger playing with the kids on your block until 11:00 at night, no need for the rules and regulations of a school night. Days lasted longer with more adventures to discover and even more secrets to unwrap and eventually share. The time between Memorial Day to the Fourth was filled with picnics, fireworks drive-in movies, scary stories, the biggest thunderstorms ever and all the kids on the block playing outside. The months of July and August took forever to transpire as each day seemed to last at least 14 hours. The days were filled with adventures that only needed a ball or chalk or one other kid to mesmerize and amuse. The nights trumpeted in the tinny sounds of transistor radios showcasing the voices of baseball announcers describing in great detail the details of the game. Lightening bugs erupted from the dark and the ice cream trucks blared their horns followed by the pleas and cries of kids shouting 'Mommy please can I have a quarter.

It is Labor Day weekend, and this year like too many from my recent past it has arrived way too soon and way too fast. What happened to June and July let alone August? I just got used to wearing tank tops and shorts, I don't want to know anything about sweaters and jackets. I want to imagine that Christmas is still 8 months away and that the only shopping I need to do is to buy sun screen. But here it is, Labor Day weekend as if it just happened, well a year ago.

I am lucky, as this year I am spending this end of the summer holiday in a place that has no time limitations. But damn, where did the year go, and why does it seem to travel faster each year I get older.

who you are

Dear Mitt,

America was promised that the RNC Convention would tell us who the “real Mitt Romney” was and is. The people who were responsible for producing this event assured us that the “real Mitt” would be showcased and any doubt or question we held in the past would be whisked away. I am not a fan of yours but hoped at least I could warrant my distaste for you and find myself correct in my negative feelings for you or have that moment of how did I miss that and find you actually had both a soul and conscience.

The RNC Convention provided a cadre of speakers proclaiming allegiance toward you but few actually pronounced in clear terms your merits to be president, instead shouting loud and proud why Obama should not be the man in the White House. Many of the manicured Republican/Tea Party maven managed the microphone well enough to spew the Party propaganda but few looked into the cameras to tell me Mitt is the man. Again, repeating myself Mitt, more time was spent on why the President should not be president and very little about why you should.

Then it happened, finally a wee part of your history was revealed. Your reluctance to mention that you are a member of the Church of Latter Day Saints while on the political stump was mentioned at the Convention and to coin a phrase I am sure makes you shudder, your religious beliefs came out of the closet for at least a teeny bit. And we learned how your religion is a keystone in your life. By disclosing this information, Mitt I had a few questions. (Isn’t  part of getting to know you, the ability to then sit around drinking soda pop and asking questions). How can you be a man of all the people when in fact your religion discriminates toward a segment of All the people who happen to be Gay? How will you respect your Bible but also respect the Constitution?

We heard Ann gush about the great husband you have been, what a terrific and devoted son you were, and of course how you could win the Father of the Year Award if in fact one was to be given out. All commendable Mitt, but then a few more questions arise.(Don’t you hate that part about running for Prez and not CEO that your peons, err I mean public gets to ask questions.) With all your family “stuff” being so important to you, why do you insist that loving families not created of  one heterosexual man and women should not experience all the wonderment you have enjoyed. Why do you propose that Gays shouldn’t marry, should not adopt kids, are second class and deserve none of the blessings Ann, your kids and friends have clamored are so important and integral to you being, Mitt Romney. How can family be so vital as to define you as the man you are when you in turn are so selfish in sharing that joy that gift?

In fact Mitt your PR team your team of Mad Men helped define you, at least in my eyes. And what I saw Mitt confirmed the hypocrite you really have been and are. You have a fooled  bunch of people into supporting you, but not because  of you more so because of hate for the other. The thing Mitt after learning more about you I see there is not other side to you and you remain a scary, scary man.

roger williams

Enforced uniformity confounds civil and religious liberty and denies the principles of Christianity and civility. No man shall be required to worship or maintain a worship against his will. (Roger Williams)
One of Williams’ beliefs had caused particular grief among the authorities. He argued that an individual Christian would know when he was saved, but could not know about the salvation of others. Therefore, it was senseless to require a religious qualification for voting. In essence, Williams was calling for the complete separation of church and state, a position that undercut the authority of the church and civic leaders.
Roger Williams founded the state of Rhode Island.
If you get past the pomp and circumstance of the televised version of the RNC convention. If you get beyond the made for television production filled with red, white and blue. You will get the the platform of the RNC. You will see the close and closer attachment, the cozy relationship the Republicans with the aid of their puppet masters the Tea Party have with religion. And then you may be shocked to discover that Christianity, Evangelical Christianity ‘do as I say, not as I do’ Christianity is ready to become the law of the land.
MARRIAGE: The platform affirms the rights of states and the federal government not to recognize same-sex marriage. It backs a constitutional amendment defining marriage as the union of one man and one woman.
ABORTION:The party states that "the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which cannot be infringed." It opposes using public revenues to promote or perform abortion or to fund organizations that perform or advocate abortions. It says the party will not fund or subsidize health care that includes abortion coverage.
The RNC is all about small government, but loves being big about bossing you about regarding personal freedoms. The fact that we even have had discussion about what type of rape is real rape, the conclusion that the institution of marriage is doomed due to same-sex-marriage should worry us all. Arizona has joined five other states declaring that it is the American way to offer a Bible class (just the Old and New Testaments of course) in our public high schools. Go to school in Louisiana and Texas and you can find that creationism is  a part of the curriculum.
Ask Rick Santorum who spoke at the RNC Convention, and the slew of delegates voting for the next Republican nominee and they will explain to you that the Founding Fathers never really ever wanted a divide between church and state. It is a made up fact, made up by who else Liberals.
This new brand of Republicans dressed in tri-cornered hats, with tea bags draped next to their guns want an America that reads like chapter and verse in their own hypocritical Bible. They want a country filled with people like them and if there are any dissenting folk the choice for them is easy assimilate or break a law and go to hell, err I mean jail. They will tell you Jesus authored the Bill of Rights.
Roger Williams was correct when he said, “Enforced uniformity confounds civil and religious liberty and denies the principles of Christianity and civility. No man shall be required to worship or maintain a worship against his will.” This election may seem to be about the economy, but when so much time is spent on forcing God into the conversation and then trying to act as that God there is more on the line then he economy.
How foolish to think the speeches spoken on television during the Convention have any meaning. With most of this new breed of Republican politician forget the word and beware of their dirty deceiving deeds.
