They have NO time to care about morals or values, laws or justice, and God forbid the future of Democracy or the Constitution; no those are just a bunch of pains in the GOP asses that get in the way OF their PERSONAL GAIN! I realize that talking to most to many GOP Primary voters is as difficult as having the Tobacco and Oil Producers admit that they ever publish their own findings on the truth behind Cancer and Climate Change. BUT I still must not remain quiet regarding the danger of never acknowledging the facts, recalling the past, and trying to put out the raging stench of SHEER HYPOCRISY!

Pompeo, in a February 18, 2022, interview, said Putin is "very shrewd, very capable. I have enormous respect for him" and referred to the Russian president as a "elegantly sophisticated counterpart." Trump referred to Putin's strategy in Ukraine as "genius," and wished Putin's "peacekeeper" forces could be used on the United States' Southern border. (CNN News)

But here IS the thingie, that constantly bugs the shit out of me…I am so tired of saying, “IMAGINE IF YOU OR I HAD BOXES OF CLASSIFIED INFORMATION AT OUR HOUSES!” Imagine how quickly the FBI or CIA would swoop in and arrest us, no questions asked no Maranda Rights read, not a please and thank you as the SWAT Team emerged and made our home a crime scene. SCHLOK MOVIES

 During the past few weeks, during my free time, I have found myself watching the most SCHLOCK RIDDEN of bad movies whose plots involve all kinds of Apocalyptic disasters mankind could possibly encounter. I have discovered that YOUTUBE, provides the greatest D List of movies directed and produced by some really untalented people, and the actors in the movies just beg for tomatoes to be thrown. The plots range from asteroids and comets smashing onto the Earth, all kinds of viruses known to humankind wiping out whole populations, climate change has gone terribly wrong, and normal animals and fish becoming horribly evil due to chemical leaks and spills. I think I know what is going on with me…basically, I am looking to the SCHLOCKIE movies for answers as to how to cope while living in the most HEINOUS of times; knowing sooner or later THE END IS NEAR! 

No matter the topic, or the catastrophe, no matter the diversity in local, or characters, there are a few VERY, COMMON DENOMINATORS contained in each movie; and those are either a compliant government, some very affluent and powerful wealthy people, obnoxious Corporations, and of course, when disaster strikes way too many of our neighbors turn into the worst kind of enemy anyone could wish. The movies made, may be an amateur hour of bad special effects, or chalk on the board dialogue, but to their credit, each movie does try and make a statement that waiting too long, denying the obvious, hoping humankind will be KIND, are often just wishful thinking.

 

During the past few weeks and months, I have watched as the monsters still roam free, how the witch burners are still permitted to carry matches, how the lies and fiction are piled on top of one another to create a horrific bonfire where truth, values and morals will go up in flames, and how good no longer counts, and BAD has become king! Sometimes I feel there is NO escaping the ravages of this Domestic War, and suppose, watching this plethora of APOCALYPTIC movie madness, which always does end in some kind of happily ever after, I might actually find hope!

Johnny Go Wrong

Miss Marie Cyphers music teacher at Linden Elementary School, teaches the ‘Johnny Go Right’ song to her first-grade music class. I was 6 years old, and to this day, I still remember the lyrics to this song, some 66 years later. When I was in undergrad school in the School of Education, prior to student teaching, we all had to learn how to play the piano (both hands, let me add, using chords), and teach an actual song to children while at the piano (I was no Elton John). My voice was bad enough but add the gnawing effect of fingers on a chain saw, and how the hell I was able to play and sing and teach Johnny Go Right, was among the miracles on Earth! Shabbat Concert at Emma Farm, my group of Second Grade boys, presents a version of Johnny Go Right,’ receiving a standing ovation, (actually, this was camp in the ’70s, and everyone received standing ovations). At the age of four, at the Columbus JCC, my now 44-year-old son, decides, to stand in front of the entire Pre School and sing he and his dad’s (ME) favorite song, ‘Johnny Go Right’ (so many infinite ways to love being a parent, and this is among the eons of memories for me). Simple versed song written in the 1950’s Johnny Go Right’, because back then we all walked to the right in straight lines, the same lines we were told to keep our crayons placed as we drew. Go left and you will inherit trouble, stay right and your life will be good as gold.

 

It was a sunny day outside, an early morning chill of 22, but the sun pretended that the temperature did not matter, as in I am in the sky, be happy and wear shorts, (kind of like the February’s in Pittsburgh as I was growing up.) Reluctantly I read the News of the Day, like the itch of a mosquito bite, once you begin scratching it, until the damn thing bleeds you cannot stop. At first, I muttered to no one but myself WTF, is being wrong the new being right for the RIGHT WING! Is it only possible to be a proud Republican, is to hate Democracy, hate People of Color, hate any American who is not you, hate so much that even if that hate hurts you, YOU STILL MUST HATE? And then, out of the blue the song ‘Johnny Go Right, blasted inside my head. The pain of the News was still aching in my gut, but my lips created a smile, and the hurt in my gut avoided pain in my heart for about 15 minutes as I reminisced… Why has the GOP even ruined the whole idea of remaining right!

Yes we have No Bananas

 Back in the day, when those days were a part of the 1950s, early in the morning, as my sisters and I reluctantly got ready for school, my mother would, as many mothers had, sensed the mood of the kitchen and its occupants, and in doing so tried to quell any rumblings that might erupt. I was not a fan of waking up early, and from third grade and beyond, the entire idea of school starting any earlier than 10:00 am seemed absurd (albeit I did not use absurd in my usual vocabulary). To try and make the mood less of a confrontation, my mother would sing a song called, ‘Yes We Have No Bananas’…There's a fruit store on our street, It's run by a Greek. And he keeps good things to eat, But you should hear him speak! When you ask him anything, he never answers "no". He just "yes"es you to death, and as he takes your dough. He tells you, "Yes, we have no bananas, We have-a no bananas today. (Yes We Have No Bananas Today/Frank Silver)

To be honest, for as much as the Republicans in Congress suck, they at least suck as a unit.  Not a great lesson about morals and values, fair and honest, but a lesson for the HARD TIMES, that Democrats should acknowledge, and from which should learn! I Remember

 Lots of life lived, and hopefully plenty more. In 72 years, I have become a bit rough and rusted as I find myself facing or is it avoiding even more unexplained and sadly unexpected events. My new phrase it seems is, “I can’t wait until this is behind me. I can’t wait for the time to say, how the hell did I ever endure that!”

 

October 16, 1962, THE CUBAN MISSILE CRISIS- I was sitting in the living room, with my entire family. Walter Cronkite was speaking to us as if he was sitting among my family. It was the first time I saw my father cry------November 22, 1963, JFK ASSASSINATION- Gym class at Linden School, Mr. Pittman our Gym Teacher, blew his whistle demanded we all immediately sit down, Miss Paterson chimed a long hard bell over the loudspeaker system, crying, she informed us that our President was murdered------April 4, 1968, MLK ASSASSINATION, Hillman Library of the University of Pittsburgh. Friends and I were in one of the study rooms, radio station KQV on his transistor radio, stopped the music, and a bellowing voice said Martin Luther King was shot and killed----June 6, 1968, RFK ASSASSINATION, Frick Park, walking around amazed that spring had finally made an appearance in Pittsburgh, even though summer was not too far away. A group of kids started shouting, no, not again, what the fuck. Like a giant swell of wind word spread, that Robert Kennedy was killed------April 20, 1999, COLUMBINE HIGH SCHOOL MASSACRE. Working at the Houston JCC, watching our Pre-School students laughing and singing, enjoying their innocent lives. Two staff people ran into our lobby and told staff, we needed to get all of the members back into rooms in the building away from the front doors NOW. ------September 11, 2001, 9/11! Costa Mesa California. As Executive Director, I was on a hotline if and when something of consequence might come into our community. Something terrible happened on the east coast, and it was a good chance it would hit California, lock down the JCC immediately!

 

It is 2022, February, and once again, twice again, three, four, five seemingly dozens of times again, I find myself in the middle of history acting as a wrecking ball. As history almost taking on a human form and saying, “HAVE YOU NOT PAID ANY ATTENTION TO ME!”  I know exactly where I am as the Supreme Court a court of CONSERVATIVE POLITICIANS, wreak havoc and chaos in this American Democracy. Remember where you were as ROE V WADE, VOTING RIGHTS disappear. Recall what you were doing when FASCISM IN THE FORM OF TRUMP AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY took hold and invaded our nation as might ROT! Remind yourself, of the exact date, lawlessness was applauded, lies liberated, and fact became an opinion!

“…I’ll sit by the fire with all my new friends…” In 1968, there was a Camp called Emma Farm. It was located in a town called Harmony. I was a Senior Counselor, readying for my next step in life to become a teacher or a social worker. But from the beginning of June until Labor Day, while I was working at Emma Farm Resident Camp, I would be as magical, mysterious, inventive, inspirational, and ALIVE as possible. And the POSSIBILITIES to learn, linger, and live, were there for the asking and then the taking. Harmony was located close to another town called Freedom; and in the summer of 1968, as a 19-year-old, all I had to do was inhale the freedoms and harmony, that life in America offered.

 

“…A million tomorrows will never erase…” There was a Ballfield, an active place during the day, a gathering place for Mass Programs, Color Wars, it was the hub of the camp, but after camper curfew, the allure of the seemingly open space was a great place for summer romances to take root, blossom and at times evolve into let’s just be friends, or oops I forgot to mention I have a girlfriend or boyfriend at home. The Ballfield, late at night, those spooky early morning hours when either aliens from space could arrive, or creatures of the night might appear, led to some introspective moments when one might wonder about how BIG we were in the universe, or exactly how SMALL we might be. If it was not romance on the blades of grass, or smoking some blades of grass, conversations about life emerged as did the distant stars always shining in the sky, but never seen due to, too much light and noise all around us. 

 

“…The fun and the joy of our summer place…” In 1968, the news was not around 24/7, and truly any outside communication was not relevant. We were isolated from the wear and tear of the world, at least for the summer, knowing that for the moments at Emma Farm, all seemed safe. But then the news came that the Russians were going to invade Czechoslovakia, and rumor began to spread that this would be the beginning of a Third World War. And I remember that night, sitting on the wet dew strewn carpet of grass, with a friend who told me she and I would remain spiritual lovers for eternity, even as the world might end. The Russians invaded Czechoslovakia, the final sessions of camp ended, there was no war…but for me, it seemed the end of total innocence, the demise of hoping that the adults of the world would actually BEHAVE. Last night, January 8, 2022, the stars, in the Massachusetts sky glittered and danced as they did when I was in Harmony, and I looked up wanting to find a sense of peace and security, but a pit began to murmur and run amuck in my gut, and my mind raced as it did back in 1968, worrying and wondering, is this another beginning of the end?

Republican Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri graduated from Stanford and Yale. Republican Senator Ted Cruz of Texas graduated from Princeton and Harvard. Republican Ron DeSantis of Florida graduated from Yale and Princeton. An impressive list of schools, many people would assert, and the consideration that parrots the same assumption would naturally be that those graduating from these Ivy League Universities are at least on the high end of an IQ chart. All three men, as I see it are smart enough to understand the pitfalls of the PLETHORA of PEONS suffering from the Dunning-Kruger effect, and smart enough to take advantage of the racist, bigoted, head up your own ass machinations caused by dangerously low INTELLECT, and low MORAL and CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. Which for me makes all three of these men even more dangerous than TRUMP. TRUMP I believe is a true example of the Dunning-Kruger effect gone terribly bad!

People close to him were charged, and some served prison time. ---Harding, Harding, Harding died in office before he was ever impeached, charged, or even directly connected to his administration's scandals. Some people close to him, known as the "Ohio Gang," were imprisoned for crimes committed while Harding was president. ---Grant, Grant was the first president to appoint a special prosecutor, who he later fired. He also testified on behalf of a defendant in the Whiskey Ring scandal, in which he was never implicated. ---Johnson, Johnson was the first president to be impeached. We have learned about way too many examples of a power grab by TRUMP and his associated Seditionists. Term limits because Americans should not have one person in power almost his entire lifetime. Well, it seems the CREATURES at FOX Noise, have done the kind of about-face, that we had previously only believed was possible by GODZILLA/MOTHRA/THE ALIEN/THE PREDATOR and KING KONG, and they have turned on DEMOCRACY, and have embraced the evil EMPIRE OF PUTIN and his PRIZED PUPPET TRUMP! Now CREATURES like Tucker Carlson, and some of the less INFAMOUS brood of debauchers over at FOX, is telling the People who live under the rocks, or reside deep inside their own anal openings, that somehow Putin is Good, Ukraine is bad, and American Democracy is worse. Yeppers, and Indeed. And if you hear through any grapevine, from the roving douchebags identifying as American Militias about America wanting to intervene in saving a free nation from invasion, then you will somehow also HEAR that in doing so BIDEN is also a bad guy!

 

OY, what a dilemma for the Trump Cadre of Court Jesters calling themselves Republican Senators. I am back to blogging. I HAD to take a few days off because I realized that all of my ANGST, created AGONY, the AGONY pure ANXIETY, which led to a daily dose of ANGUISH! I had to try and discover why, the CRAZINESS of DENIAL, the INSANITY of STUPID, and the sheer DENIAL of FACT had become the PREVALENT form of REALITY; for some, and for way too many!

 

Your experience of the world is unique to you. So is your interpretation of it, which depends on your prior beliefs, yearnings, and aversions, and on what matters to you. No wonder we often disagree vehemently, violently, on what has happened and what it means. (Scientific American)

 

I must admit that I am far from a knowledgeable individual regarding PHYSICS, or the MATHEMATICS OF LIFE. I struggled with Algebra 1, almost had spontaneous human combustion in my Geometry Class, and when I took Chemistry I was seated in the first row (the dummy row) by my Chemistry teacher! But as my world grew into decades, I have tried to understand, the absolute FUCKED -UP-NESS, all around me.

 

 A newish interpretation of quantum mechanics called QBism (pronounced “Cubism,” like the art movement) makes subjective experience the bedrock of knowledge and reality itself. David Mermin, a prominent theorist, says QBism can dispel the “confusion at the foundations of quantum mechanics.” You just have to accept that all knowledge begins with “individual personal experience.” According to QBism, each of us constructs a set of beliefs about the world, based on our interactions with it. We constantly, implicitly, update our beliefs when we interact with relatives who refuse to get vaccinated or sensors tracking the swerve of an electron. The big reality in which we all live emerges from the collisions of all our subjective mini-realities. (Scientific American).

 

Scientific American is not easy reading for me. Too often I will really try to read an entire article, only to find my brain imitating Homer Simpson’s brain when after a few seconds all he hears is “BEER!” I don’t say “BEER,” BUT, I begin to feel a cramping sensation at my cortex, and immediately say, “FOR YOUR MENTAL HEALTH AND WELFARE, JUST STOP READING!” But maybe, just maybe there is some SCIENTIFIC method to the madness of the MINDLESS…or maybe NOT!
