 Deposition excerpts filed by the Jan 6. select committee — part of an effort to force former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows to appear for an interview — suggest that some of Trump’s top allies in Congress were frequently present in meetings where a handful of strategies to prevent then-President-elect Joe Biden from taking office were discussed, including efforts to replace the leadership of the Justice Department with figures who would sow doubts about the legitimacy of the election. 

Lawmakers who attended meetings, in person or by phone, included Reps. Scott Perry (R-Pa.), Louie Gohmert (R-Texas), Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) and numerous members of the House Freedom Caucus, according to Cassidy Hutchinson, an aide to Meadows who provided key testimony about the conversations and meetings Meadows had in December 2020.

The new evidence underscores the expansive cast of elected Republicans who had ultimately enlisted themselves in Trump’s last-ditch effort to cling to power. Members traded theories about ways to push then-Vice President Mike Pence to single-handedly stop Biden’s election, they parried with the White House Counsel’s Office on the boundaries of the law regarding presidential electors and they met directly with Pence’s staff to encourage him to take direct action on Jan. 6, when Congress convened to count electoral votes.  I believe it started with Miss Mac Ateer, in the seventh grade at Linden School, during the year of Social Studies class. We studied Geography, Civics, The Constitution, and American History, way back in the early 1960s. It made sense to the young me, although I might not have dwelled on the philosophical bit of it, the whole part of, taking what we know happened, separating the bad from the good, never attempting the bad, COULD make for a better outcome for tomorrow. I mean ‘DUH,” learn from the mistakes, identify the villains, and do better! When I took History classes in High School and became more aware of the world in which I lived as a Jewish Individual, I also became keenly aware of the German desire to conquer the world one Jewish life at a time, and the quote “Never Again, resonated loudly for me.

 

I have been accused by some of ALWAYS posting about the BAD THING HAPPENING, that I ALWAYS seem to perseverate on the Negative, just let it go, because you can’t change the world…Ya know what…I do, and I will, and I shall continue! THE TWENTIES

 Hard to believe, but One-Hundred and Twenty-Two years ago, the ‘Roaring Twenties’ began! It was a decade from which fables, foibles, fantasy, all colluded, and via movies, television shows, Broadway Plays, and novels, have Americans of all backgrounds, found themselves mesmerized, recounting a mysterious and magical moment of AMERICANA! 2022! Already in the second year of the Twenties, (a Hundred and Two years later), and as I see it, this particular decade might be referenced as the ‘RACIST TWENTIES’!

How far we as a nation HAVE NOT GROWN! Strides, hard-fought, to attain, blood sweat, and tears, are seemingly like the autumn leaves, brown, stale, and dead, easily abandoned and discarded when the wind of HATE huff, puffs and blows hard at FREEDOMS and JUSTICE. 

 

The ‘Roaring Twenties, was all about decadence we are told, delighting in the pleasures of jazz, self-expression, changing the norm, a carefree, cavalier attitude enjoying the pleasures of NOT THE NORM, but establishing a new NORMAL. The ‘Racist Twenties’, for me has taken such an abrupt about-face, from a decade ago, as to cause WHIPLASH, injury to the soul, and denial of any kind of consciousness! From Don’t Say Gay---Criminal laws against abortion---Voter Restrictions---Anti SEL (Social and Emotional Learning) and arduous action to deny Critical Race Theory, this nation, MY COUNTRY, has begun to traverse a path dark, dank, and dangerous!
