Huh, Imperial Presidency!

 The term "imperial presidency" states that the office of President of the United States, akin to a classical ruler of an empire, is the head of state of a geographical, military and economic superpower, has broad executive power and is advised by a bureaucratic staff akin to a classical imperial court. (Wikipedia). 

When Nixon, decided that crime was the only way to remain in office and that as a President he was somehow immune from facing any consequences for committing crime, I believe the term Imperial Presidency actually took real shape and form. After Watergate and the fiasco that Nixon wrought upon the Presidency, supposedly the American Legislative Branch set in motion, a bunch of bureaucratic mumbo-jumbo to ensure that America would never have another NIXON-ESQUE. Nixon, also known as the Watergate Scandal, has established that even a President has a legal duty to provide evidence of one’s communications with his aides when the information is relevant to a criminal case./Consitution.com)  Except like most mumbo-jumbo, all you get is a bunch of blah, blah, blah and little else. Along comes TRUMP, and the term IMPERIAL PRESIDENCY, takes on a whole grander meaning, and like an octopus, the tentacles of the insidious autocrat, start to grab onto the thin threads of democracy and smother it like prey swimming innocently in the ocean. 

 

Section 2, Clause 1 describes exclusive presidential powers: namely, the Commander in Chief authority, the power to require written opinions from the heads of executive departments, and the pardon power. (Constitution.com). Here is the THING, as I see it…WHY! Why is it that the President can somehow excuse criminals by ignoring their crimes? Why is it that the President, especially when he has not been elected by a majority of Americans, hides his own criminal intentions and acts from the public? This nation has witnessed just how human a president can be, and as a human, demonstrating some of the worst traits of humanity as a narcissist maniacal, psychotic, and dangerous.

 

 

Imagine if...

 Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) criticized Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) for not meeting with President Biden while he visited the state Friday to survey hurricane damage, calling the decision “absolutely outrageous.” (The Hill)

DeSantis is a coward. DeSantis is afraid. DeSantis has no backbone. Imagine, (and I shudder profusely, to imagine this), if DeSantis became President, and he, (and I doubt he would set foot in any place where disaster happened until it had been cleaned and cleared up), BUT for argument's sake, imagine DeSantis’s complete breakdown if a Governor from that state told DeSantis don’t show up. DeSantis’ office said security concerns for an office already dealing with hurricane recovery made the meeting too burdensome. “In these rural communities, and so soon after impact, the security preparations alone that would go into setting up such a meeting would shut down ongoing recovery efforts,” DeSantis spokesman Jeremy Redfern said in a statement. Evil that men do, is intentional evil. Spite, vindictiveness, self-serving selfishness, and sewing seeds of doubt, are the machinations of human invention, and DeSantis, at least in this category ranks very proficient!

 

 

the Art of the CON

 And as each tell-all has emerged, it has been rightly noted that much of this information would have been relevant far earlier — say, when Trump was twice facing impeachment, or in the run-up to both Election Day 2020 and the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection. As I see it, the ART OF THE CON still remains in the veins of those who once served in the TRUMP White House. Why NOW, if NOT THEN, I plead? How come NOW, it is, let’s say, useful for all of you to come forward, or maybe the words I am searching for are MORE PROFITABLE.

 

Mark Esper, William P. Barr, John Bolton, Stephanie Grisham, Michael Cohen, James Comey, Chris Christi, and Sean Spicer, just to name a few, have suddenly had a ‘MEA CULPA’  (MEA culpa is a phrase originating from Latin that means my fault or my mistake and is an acknowledgment of having done wrong. The expression is used also as an admission of having made a mistake that should have been avoided.) HMMM. 

 

It seems to me that most to all of them, STILL, play most Americans as fools, the same fools while they were kissing the ass of TRUMP! The stench of supposed profits, must have made all of these CON ARTISTS, think that a shave and a shower and a little more perfume would cover up their sordid lives. NOPE!

 

More than age

 Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's alarming health episode this week has just added to a debate over age already dominating the campaign trail. Although it's not clear why the 81-year-old McConnell's appeared to freeze during a news conference -- it nevertheless prompted both candidates and voters to again ask: How old is too old to serve as an elected official -- let alone to serve in the White House? I am a Baby Boomer, at 73, I fit right smack dab in the upper end of the so-called “Baby Boomer Generation.” I understand the worry and concern younger voters, who happen to NOT BE “BABY BOOMERS,” have expressed, regarding the awareness, realities, and sensitivities of younger generations. Whatever is relevant, now, meaningful now, of importance now, may not actually be on the priority list of a generation once, twice, or three times removed from people the ages of 21 and beyond. 

 

BUT, if I may, let me disagree that AGE, is not necessarily the culprit in having a discourse regarding Politicians. DeSantis is 44, and he has demonstrated contempt for the LGBTQ community and people of color. Nikki Haley is 51 years old and has demonstrated an aversion to Women’s Reproductive Rights, and Immigrants. Matt Gaetz is 44 years old, and he has demonstrated a disregard for Law and Order. Jim Jordan is 59 years old, and he has demonstrated that if you are not TRUMP then fuck you. Tim Scott is 57 years old, and he has demonstrated his lack of morals by acting on the fringe of Politics.

 

AGE, should be addressed, but if it is a VITAL question for younger voters, how come issues like Bigotry/Racism/Homophobia/Xenophobia/Misogyny seem to be excused just because those Politicians happen to NOT BE BABY BOOMERS?

Unlike Nixon, who hid his loathing for a free democracy under the guise that as a Republican, he, NIXON, would be the PROTECTOR of AMERICA’S EXCEPTIONALISM, TRUMP, has provided us with a foreshadowing of how his AMERIKA, will neither thrive, nor survive, under his leadership, if he is elected to another term in office. TRUMP and his gaggle of GOP Goons, GOP Gestapo, GOP Insurrectionists, and Seditionists, have made it VERY clear that once TRUMP becomes President, the only justice served, will be by his command, his wishes, and his decisions. 

 

Sadly a WHOLE group of MAGA Cultists, including Republican Politicians, and the Republican Donor Base like the idea of having a Stalin/Hitler/Mao/Ayatollah/Kim Jung-Un/Putin as their newly appointed Dictator-In-Chief, thinking that by doing so, some kind of fucked up version of Freedom/Liberty and Democracy will take place. And yet, if the Pollsters are correct, there are enough self-loathing Americans to make this become reality!

Conspiracy to overthrow our election results, the invention of FAKE ELECTORS, the Majority Votes do not matter; why, BECAUSE, as I see it an archaic, and obsolete method of counting votes for the Presidency. Five times in our history, the Electoral College has elected a president who lost the national popular vote. A change of a mere 0.03% (39,000 votes) in four states – Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and Wisconsin would have elected the person trailing by a record million votes. Having a national election decided by a small number of swing states rather than the general population was problematic from the beginning. Over time it has divided states and voters into two tiers. The much-contested swing states. And the rest of the country which is taken for granted.

 

BATTLEGROUND STATES. We saw, we witnessed firsthand that, we are now prosecuting the MAGA Republicans who incite violence, we watch as a current crop of Trump-supporting Republicans still prioritize those BATTLEGROUND STATES, and yet knowing all of the negatives regarding the ELECTORAL COLLEGE, we have done nothing but enable this institutional way of thinking EXIST!
