Wanted: Teachers. No training necessary.
As schools struggle to find educators, some no longer require college degrees driven in part by low teacher pay, cuts to school spending and less interest in the teaching profession. The moves to address those problems today come as right-wing politicians paint schools and universities as bastions of liberal ideology. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), who had previously called a college degree “a magic piece of paper which likely would have cost too much anyway,” (Washington Post)
My head has exploded! Honestly, reading this article, was the final stick of TNT inserted into my head, and I am writing this as BAND-AIDS is keeping my brain from falling onto my computer! I usually try to have a point in mind in a direction when I BLOG, but somehow THIS article has completely disrupted an alignment of thought.
A few things, of course, I start with the sheer HYPOCRISY of people like DeSantis whose education includes Naval Justice School, Harvard Law, and Yale University. Had he a bunch of average Floridians in his elementary and high school, acting as teachers, DeSantis would be, well just one more or less, DeSantis! Then I float to the words “right-wing politicians paint schools and universities as bastions of liberal ideology…” Facts, History, Truth, and Education itself, suddenly are dangerous and anti-American… Many of these right-wing-wing-nuts, had limited education and feared smart people, OR, like DeSantis, had a great education and understand that smart people are more difficult to lead off a cliff!
And then FINALLY, as for today's RANT… Putin may be losing the war in Ukraine, but HE is certainly winning a war in the United States under his General Trump and his ARMY of CULTISTS, who have successfully opened a rift in this nation. From “THE BIG LIE/JANUARY 6TH/ELECTION DENIERS/A REPUBLICAN PARTY more interested in their careers than Democracy/RACISM/ANTI-SEMATISM/MISOGYNY openly being expressed and desired to a SUPREME COURT tearing down the WALLS BETWEEN CHURCH AND STATE, the United States is teetering and almost imploding.
