Concern was raised by progressive activists and some legal scholars after it emerged Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh attended a Christmas party along with a number of prominent right-wingers, such as House Representative Matt Gaetz and Stephen Miller, formerly a senior adviser to Donald Trump.
Justice Brett Kavanaugh's attendance at a Christmas party hosted by Matt Schlapp, chair of the American Conservative Union, was a "clear and obvious...conflict of interest," according to MSNBC legal analyst Jill Wine-Banks.
The party took place Friday at the home of Schlapp and his wife Mercedes, who worked on Donald Trump's 2020 presidential election campaign. Schlapp is also the founder of chair of the American Conservative Union. Along with Stephen Miller, founder, both men have stated in the past: He said the AFLF is "committed to an unwavering defense of true equality under law, national borders and sovereignty, freedom of speech and religion, classical values and virtues, the sanctity of life and centrality of family, and our timeless legal and constitutional heritage." I KNOW, and I am damn sick of this, BUT once more a guy having the same kind of ethics and morals as Trump, is sitting on the bench of the Supreme Court, and pretending that his SHIT DON’T STINK, and if it does, TOO BAD CAUSE HE IS THE LAW OF THE LAND. I beg the Democrat Senators, while they even still have a margin in the Senate to stop talking about how much of a double standard this seems, and to actually create laws that say, one strike and you are out!
