This should disturb all of us that suddenly it is what you supposedly look like that makes you deportable. It was called “papers, please,” in Nazi Germany, when the Gestapo had the authority to stop German citizens on the street, because they looked Jewish (whatever the fuck that meant.)
How do we, the people, protect ourselves from ICE when, in fact, if they so desire, they can catch and grab us as we walk down the street because of their subjectivity?
With the Trump Dictatorship, there are fewer and fewer guardrails, preventing the members of ICE from arresting citizens without any due process or based on any substantial reasoning except what people are perceived to look like, and that what they look like is now considered an Enemy of the State.
