one more mean spirited bigot

Mister President, the longer it takes you to recognize the human and civil rights of the GLBT community, the more the GLBT community is going to have to put up with bigoted, hateful people, using the guise of religion, and nationalism to continue to belittle, abuse, and abandon all reason and rational in communicating with, understanding, and recognizing who people like me, an American male, father of two, tax paying individual and happens to be GAY, who we/I are/am?

Your posturing on the issue of same sex marriage, don't ask don't tell, DOMA, has entitled the less educated, the dogmatic fundamentalists, the self loathing, the hate mongers to continue to find excuses for blaming all the woes of the world, and in particular the U.S. on the horrible, demonic, evil GLBT community. Are we really that bad?

Your popularity is great. Your reputation as a man of good deeds, your ability to communicate the facts have all resulted in high performance ratings. YET...
... your awkward silence on the basic rights of a demographic population in this country has not stopped the vocal harangues from people so fearful of anyone who are not like them that will say and do anything, and saying and doing have caused many a GLBT, like me more harm than good.

An example Mister President, is Representative SALLY KERN of Oklahoma. She is asking that the state of Oklahoma pass of proclamation of morality, because along with the abortionists, the homosexuals have caused the the recession have demoralized the moral majority, and probably are responsible for any other ailment that the U.S. currently faces.

This woman says we need a "national awakening of righteousness" and we must return to "the basic Judeo-Christian value system. Ms Kern wants us to "right a wrong."

She is entitled to her opinion and free speech, but Mister President, she is-calling ME names, and blaming ME, as a GAY man for these ills. And it seems Mister President, no one can out shout this woman and defend my judgement, my values and correct the misinformation than the President of the United States. So when will you start?

How many more hateful crimes have to happen, how many more vengeful, mean spirited attacks have to take place, how many more lives have to be hurt, before you step forward and finally something like, my fellow Americans, stop this madness, we ARE all equal and I will define that equality for you.

I am waiting Mister President.

I've read a great many post that criticize President Obama for not "doing enough" for the LGBT community. I disagree strongly with most of them. This however, is a point I can not argue with. Very well put!
