In Pakistan the devastating floods have wrecked the lives, livelihood and living conditions of hundreds of thousands of people. Those who already were trying to eek out a life from poverty have now been thrown back into the pit. And with the very little they had, it was gone (vanishing with the flash floods), are homeless and helpless. The Government in Pakistan was slow to react to the devastation, maybe because those in trouble were poor, or maybe because the greed and selfish behavior of the politicians got in the way of anything altruistic.
Adding to the misery of the many in Pakistan the Taliban and other sundry groups of self serving so called religious militia have now declared war on any international aid worker who has tried to come to Pakistan to comfort or care for the downtrodden. The Taliban has stated that any outside help is interference anti Islam and for those uneducated, fearful and needy the lack of assistance is perceived as the Government not caring or helping. Fill the masses with lies, mislead the ignorant, build a case on no facts that the Government is in fact an enemy of the people, and revolution Taliban style is well on its way.
During the debate on Health Care Sister Sarah and her band of Tea Bagger politicians decided that death panels, and Big Brother would pass as examples as why not to want universal health care. They preyed upon the fearful, downtrodden, hopeless, self victimizing souls of this nation and declared war on the Government. They stopped any progress in health care reform stating that outside interference in the lives of the average American (outside interference being the Federal Government) were truly the enemies whose goal was not to help but to hurt.
Using religious tomes and harangues the American Christian Rightwing Tea bag Brigade declared jihad on any health program that might benefit the average citizen. It was vile and venomous to provide equal care to the citizen if it would hurt the shareholders and corporations. The soldiers of the Tea Bag Brigade led by General Palin waged war to protect their bottom lines and the health of their bank accounts versus the health of you and me.
The devastation caused by Katrina in New Orleans five years ago, left that cities population suffering, desperate and many dead. The Bush/Cheney Republican led administration waited and watched before making any attempt to rescue and save. They finally sent in assistance after the poor, the minority, and the elderly those who had little resources were caught on camera pleading for mercy. Barbara Bush, the Presidents mother even made the comment that those trying to survive in the Super Dome must be happier there because by all means it was a better place than the squalor and crappy homes they left.
During the remaining years of the Bush/Cheney dictatorship promise on promise was made to help make New Orleans whole, but little was ever done. Let the villagers lie in the murk after all many of them voted Democratic. A little jihad against a bunch of people who claimed to be Americans but in reality were draining the coffers and patience of the corporations and lobbyist led politicians who found them useless.
In this year of mid-year election primaries, candidates from the Republican/ Tea Bag Brigade political party such as Rand Paul of Kentucky Sharon Angle of Nevada, Marco Rubio of Florida, Joe Miller of Alaska, John McCain of Arizona have declared a jihad against anything Obama, anything Democrat, anything democratic, anything Constitutional and anything that might hurt the corporations and help the citizen.
They have pledged to eliminate useless amendments to the Constitution that might provide equal instead of separate but equal. They have waged war against unions because a decent wage for the average worker would cost big business big bucks and the CEO’s one less million in bonus. They resist rules and regulations for any corporation stating that self regulation works as it did in the BP debacle the salmonella egg distribution recall and the collapse of the financial markets and institutions. They want to disband or dismantle social security, the Department of Education, and the Americans with Disability Act (ADA).
Like the Taliban of Pakistan, this so called ‘grass roots’ organization, funded by some of the wealthiest business giants in our country’s history, prey on the ignorant, the fearful, the helpless, the uneducated, the religious zealots, the stupid, the homophobe, the anti Semite, the racist and claim that hate is good and the more you hate the more American you become. Like the Nazi’s in Germany, and like the Taliban in Pakistan the virus of a poor economy, the fear of people different, the zest of xenophobia make the clusters of these jihadist grow and prosper. We can not make it better till we rid this country of the devil. We define the devil and you do the dirty work. Since the devil is in the details we will provide you with made up facts.
Nothing it seems in this world is any longer new. History repeats itself and we face the future without any regard to our past. We permit deranged, deprived self proclaimed prophets to promote bias and bigotry and never look inward for resolve but outward for blame. We face our own form of jihad in this country, but because most of it is coming from those who define themselves as Christians, we give little consideration, worry or wonder to being a causality of this war against us. Sad, huh?! Yep, very!!!!
