The long hallway

In many a monster movie, almost with 5 minutes left till the end of the movie, we finally are viewing a scene where the absolute horrible creature seems to be beaten. The victim, bloody and bruised, with just a brief smirk of victory on his or her face, faces the camera understanding that good may have actually triumphed over evil. The camera starts moving backwards leaving us with what looks like a long stretch of hallway, the only path to the front door, the final exit from this house of horrors. The audience, many with bated breath, fearful that if even they the audience, make a sound somehow the victim WILL NOT make it down the hall and out of the doorway to freedom. Step by step, which seems an eternity, the victim sways, perhaps trips, trying to find balance and we watch as the camera pans onto the victims hand touching the door knob, the last and final obstacle to freedom…and then somehow, even burnt, or blackened with acid, battered or bruised, the monster, the creature makes one more attempt, finding life to ruin the life of the victim YET one more time. In a scary movie, I am most satisfied when the credits begin to roll, and some spooky, somber music gives way to a melody with some lighter notes. Then I know, most likely the monster is dead and good and try once again to survive.

Today’s news seems GREAT, finally some people are being found guilty of treasonous acts toward this nation and its citizens. Be it money laundering, bribery, theft of emails, collusion with a foreign government, for me it translate to anarchy, treason and try enemies of the state. But like that victim in the horror movie, there is still that long walk toward the doorway, to the door knob, to opening that door and walking out into freedom. Since the Civil War, this nation has not found itself governed by politicians who have placed self, and party before country. Truth is considered fake, there are little to few checks and balances throughout the three branches of government, and a small base of bigots or billionaires who hate this nation have more power over it governance then the real majority of Americans.

I of course and happy that the law so far has reared its head from the sand, but knowing the monsters living in the White House, and their pack of creatures supporting those monsters, my celebration is far from true delight. We still have a Republican majority in Congress, refusing to do the peoples work. We still have a bunch of wealth Republican donors who refuse to work about anyone but themselves, and we have a mentally ill person sitting in the Oval Office, who has no sense of reality. We the American people are the victim and it seems to me we still have a long walk to the front door, to the door knob to freedom!
