“The multiracial coalition that helped Donald Trump win the presidency in 2024 is unraveling. Heading into the midterms, a portion of the MAGA base appears to be increasingly hostile to ethnic and religious minorities, including the small but prosperous Indian-American community.
Earlier this month, Bo French, the Republican nominee for a Texas Railroad Commission seat, shared on social media a photo of ecstatic Indian-American students in an Austin stadium celebrating a University of Texas football victory over Ohio State. Mr. French tweeted: “I heard UT graduation this year looked like this. I didn’t believe it. The problem is now obviously far worse than anyone imagined.” (The Wall Street Journal)
Finally, the secretive backroom conversations, the innuendos, the subtle instances, which have become the blatant and intentional musings of Republicans and the politicians they support, have made it into the sunshine. Republicans and their white majority of voters hate, loathe, fear, and despise any person of color.
What surprised me was the mere fact that the people of color who actually voted for Trump or wore the Red Hate of Hate thought that somehow they were a different breed of people of color, that somehow if they loathed and despised the same as their Caucasian Republican buddies, they would be exempt from becoming the dreaded Republican Other!
Sad and pathetic demographics who somehow seem to think that it is okay to hate people who look like them, thinking that the real bigots within the Republican Party would overlook the color of their skin, the language they spoke, or their ancestors’ original country.
What goes around eventually comes around!
