My Grandma Buncher was a very pragmatic individual. Born in America in the late 1800’s she felt that her family history provided her with the insight to understand the practicalities of life, and to not sweat the little things, or as she stated, “If your intention is to do things that are always right, understand that there are just as many people out there whose intention is to do things that are wrong. Do not let them deter you from your efforts”, she would add, “but please never act so stupid as to think your path forward will not be thwarted by the way too many who only see what it is they want.” Grandma Buncher, never drank alcohol, but did make her own homemade soda, with seltzer and ginger, and usually after providing her grandchildren with a bit of her philosophy about life, she would take a very large gulp of the homemade “POP,” (Pittsburghese for soda), and emitting a teeny tiny burp (which my siblings and I had to pretend we never heard), would finish her thoughts saying, “Sadly I see what people do and say, but I can never understand most of the bad that follows them!”
The Republicans almost man to man, woman to woman are still eschewing Trump’s too numerous and dangerous machinations of rebellion, coup, sedition, and treason. As if history provided no proof of guilt, the GOP seems in lock step to STILL praise and adore Trump. They as a unit stand behind this MONSTER. The Dems on the other hand are once again in a tizzy, pretending that Biden is too senile, too incompetent. The Dems as usual are in-fighting and acting as if the current president somehow is not good for a nation reeling from a wanna-be authoritarian!
Republican, Adam Kinzinger, one of the handfuls brave enough to place country over politics, has played way too numerous accounts of death threats to his family let alone himself. Yet the Republican Party who claim the moral high road, who insist they truly understand the quality of life, have remained quiet, not condemning the death threats, not telling their GOP Base how evil and immoral this is, almost in their silence, the GOP Politicians seem to condone this vicious rhetoric!
To quote my Grandma Buncher (May she rest in peace) “Sadly I see what people do and say, but I can never understand most of the bad that follows them!”
