Deevers made an appearance on 'The Sword and The Trowel' recently to discuss his campaign and outline his plans for bringing all facets of society and governance under the rule of Jesus Christ should he win. Subsequently, on the show, Deevers rejected the idea of separating church and state, stating that since Christ is "the ruler of all the kings of the Earth" and that civil government must always function on "the presupposition is Christ is Lord," per the Right Wing Watch website. At first glance after reading this article, one might, in a snarky voice, roll their eyes, sigh, and then add, sarcastically, well, what do you expect? After all, it's OKLAHOMA! At a second glance, after actually trying to absorb the information of this article, one might tsk, tsk, inhale a much larger chunk of breath and, slowly let all of that oxygen out, add this guy is an idiot. And at a third glance, one, if they have actually stopped pretending that the “HANDMAIDS TALE” is not real, alive and well in the US, state empathically, WHAT THE FUCK, WHAT THE HOLY FUCK!
Whoever the fuck this Dusty Deevers is matters very little; what matters, at least for me, is that this Christian Nationalist Fascist now feels empowered to state out loud, what had been, in the past a taboo, an anti-Democratic ideal of a Christian America, based not on the Constitution, but based on the biases, bogus, and bull shit of one person’s religious beliefs, and the complete removal of the Constitutions statement demanding that there be a STRONG DIVIDE between Church and State.
Let’s remember, folks, that too often Misogyny, Homophobia, transphobia, anti-Semitism, Racism, Xenophobia, Treason, Insurrection, and Anti-Abortion begin at a state level and are relished and rewarded by Republicans, leading them to spread these viruses to other states,, who in turn, turn to Congress or worse, the Supreme Court who in turn invents one more discriminatory law, for the Nation. This Cancer will not lie dormant or die in Oklahoma if the rest of us do nothing to stop it!
