GOP, ‘Mansplaining’
“You know, the left has a lot of single-issue voters,” Moreno said late last week at a town hall–style event. “Sadly, by the way, there’s a lot of suburban women, a lot of suburban women that are like, ‘Listen, abortion is it. If I can’t have an abortion in this country whenever I want, I will vote for anybody else.’ … OK. It’s a little crazy by the way, but — especially for women that are like past 50 — I’m thinking to myself, ‘I don’t think that’s an issue for you.’” Bernie Moreno/Republican candidate for Ohio Senator.
As I read his quote, all I hear is a very, very BLATANT, and LOUD dog whistle, almost as if you are a woman living in SUBURBIA, no one in your neighborhood is going to rape you because most likely you are white and wealthy. And then I hear him stating that any woman over 50 is not worth raping, as she is too old for that kind of action.
Oh yeah, this guy also acts as if he knows how women think and that somehow, as long as it is their own body that makes them safe because they live in SUBURBIA or are over 50, there is no need to worry about the common good for women.
