At a training session last week, a school administrator with Carroll ISD in Southlake, Texas, tried to advise elementary school teachers on how to follow new district guidelines for the vetting of books. The guidelines were issued in an attempt to align with a controversial law in Texas that seeks to restrict discussion of race and history in schools.
The training session was first reported by NBC News. After teachers expressed frustration and confusion over the new guidelines, Gina Peddy -- executive director of curriculum and instruction for the district -- invoked the Holocaust as an example of a historic event that would require a teacher to keep on hand other books with "opposing" views. Ever since the days when a Congressman named Delay invoked a GERRYMANDERED system of redistricting carving up natural boundaries into Republican-dominated areas, and up until recently when Christian Nationalism became the official state religion, and Racism Is Good, the officials state motto, all the Republican-led Texas Legislature has done is to try and make the US Constitution NUL and VOID. Healthy debate is considered Communism/the study of science and medicine an act of Socialism/and Common-Sense anti-Trump, as I SEE IT!
Be afraid AMERICA, be very afraid, because somehow within the past almost five years of our nation's 245 years of existence, we are witnessing a scenario, I believe, as ugly and awful as the days and months leading to the American Civil War. And, for me, the real FEAR, IS that none of this is HAPPENSTANCE, but direct intentional rendered mayhem in hopes of enhancing the careers of men and women, more pleasured with AUTHORITARIANISM and POLITICAL POWER. The BIGOT, THE BIAS, THE BOGUS of course have always been around, but what makes this AFFRONT TO DEMOCRACY even more frightening, for me, is that one particular political party has EMBRACED the idea of INSURRECTION!
