Dear America,
As I write this, it is October 3, 2018, 9:29 pm Pacific Coast Time. I sit cozily in my LA home, having watched and read the various accounts regarding the next steps in reducing, ridiculing and removing most if any bits of democracy, still existing.
On his FOX television hour or State Run Propaganda, Tucker Carlson a very white man made the remarks to his audience that simply stated, the reason there is any doubt being placed regarding the Kavanaugh nomination is mere because THEY are going after people like us. People like us, like Tucker Carlson, Orrin Hatch, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Donald Trump…
It seems that the Republican Party has established a standard of rules and regulations, which THEY and only THEY can follow or dismantle as THEY see fit. America, it seems is useless for the Republican leadership if in fact it is an inclusive, open society, with principles, and includes the pursuit of happiness for ALL, not just THEY. We have been told that the next thing that happens will be the line of demarcation, cross it and we are in a Constitutional Crisis, it is passed and a new line is drawn, ignored, erased, and Trump becomes more and more an Authoritarian Banana Republic Dictator, freedoms diminished, Putin placated, and anyone considered THEY punished.
Today, a Senator, Senator Collins, thinking she has no obligation as a public servant to speak to the public, had Capitol Police escort her in the halls of the Senate, not from an armed terrorist, but from reporters who wanted a straightforward answer from her, or will you support the nomination off Brett Kavanaugh or won’t you. Today, October 3, 2018, another Senator, Mitch McConnell, a public servant, decided that the public has no right to learn of additional information regarding Brett Kavanaugh, or in fact just how much further investigation had been permitted to be provided in the first place. Today, October 3, 2018, another Senator was interviewed and renounced an accuser of Brett Kavanaugh as trailer trash. Yesterday, October 2, 2018, Trump, elevated to the Oval Office under so many dangerous and questionable tactics, (another public servant), insisted that it was the male who has been the victim because part of being a man is to ignore any woman’s right to say no.
I will be trying my best to find some sleep, America, but the past few nights, NOT worrying about the future of this nation has haunted me, and all I can think of was the rise of Adolph Hitler, who pretended that THEY were either with him or that THEY were the enemy. Dear America, perhaps we have met the water's edge, and as the saying goes, we will now sink or swim. I am not sure, how Thursday, October 4, 2018, will turn out…I think about the lyrics “…the day the music died…
